As far as I remember, Bioware never said they'll give any cash prizes. The prize was getting flown to a city with one of their recording studios, they'll pay for your accommodations and you'll get your voice in Inquisition. That's it. Where does the paid work come in? Why do you think people assume there's going to be a cash prize and will be disappointed when they don't get it? Did I miss something?
Even so, can't people just be fans of a thing and want to be a part of it without getting bags of money out of it? I know I wouldn't mind lending my voice to the game because the emotional satisfaction of contribution a little piece of myself to it would be enough.
I think the posts were more directed to the ideas that professional voice actors would enter into something like this for their own personal benefits, and I'd be inclined to agree that the large term implications of this would be limited. If a professional voice actor applied for something like this, they'd possibly be disappointed if it was for any other reason than fun IMO.
