No, I would say the chain grab is essentially using an ability from ME3, that being lash (I can't remember if it is in the single player game or in multiplayer) These games have shared things like abilities and animations so it is easier to essnetially adapt an exisiting ability and tweak it.
Going for Dragon Effect just shows lack of imagination.

Is it strange that different parts of the same company gets inspiration from one another? The chain pull is a concept that works for many, and no one is forcing you to use it. In fact, you get a talent point to spend on any other spell that might suit your fancy instead.

Personally, I loved the chain ability in the gameplay video. I'm hoping there'll be some interesting tactical uses for it... like pulling enemies down from ramparts or snagging them through closed gates...

Now you're thinking with
PortalsQA Tactics.
I think the gameplay video shows the inquisitor use the chain pull to yank shields from enemies aswell, similar to how pull could rob cerberus guardians of their shields in ME3.

Can i replace a chain with a whip? Pretty please? At least that would be easier to justify, than carrying a thick metal chain in addition to full armor and weapon(s).

Dryads in DAI?
We have the lore that mention that they are some in the Arbor Wilds...
I'm mostly interested by the fact that the Lady of the Forest is confirmed to be one though. That tell us exactly what dryad are and without surprise a spirit is involved.

That chain grab is blatant Mortal Combat rip off and totally stupid idea. Just another awesome button feature. One more thing to show us how deeply DA has wondered into Awesome Lands.
Yeah, and the game also has trees, grass, buildings and fire, ******* BioWare that rip off things instead of invent them.
...
The BioWare hate and nitpicking has gotten ridiculous.

When I first saw the chain pull ability in the PAX video, I laughed and shouted, "GET OVER HERE!" It was a great moment, I loved it. It was one more thing that got me pumped and excited for the game.
It reminded me of an outtake from the anime Berserk with the whole line "CHARLOTTE!!? *demonic voice* Get Over here!!"

But ... but that would be ripping off Legend of Zelda, clearly nothing like the hook shot has been done before!

I imagine they were looking through them before all submissions were in. If they are going to get through all 2000+, I suspect they already had a large pile of 'Definitely Not' entries.About takeyourplace , do you think they're really going to go through the whole 2000+ submissions before Monday? It just seems like so much 0_o. I'd like to believe they will want to see all the entries and not choose from the first few hundred that were sent in.

No problem, no problem... I would be willing to shoulder that burden.
When it comes up, Bioware could just point and say... "Hrungr made me do it!"

Reminds me of why I could never watch dubbed anime. It's so bad it hurts.
