This is giving me a 1,000 different kind of "yikes" feelings.

Do you think perhaps he is allowed to release this because this month they'll reveal him on Follower Friday and thus won't be secret anymore?
I was thinking this too. If he wasn't, he might be now...

The rush of unbridled female attention is enough to make any man say things he shouldn't. Stronger men have fallen to our nefarious and charming ways.
Don't forget the guys as well.

My main concern is that he was allowed to say some stuff, but then, well, blabbed a bit too much. I am a worrier, though.
Well I mean really, what are they gonna do? Fire him? At worst he gets his twitter taken away and we get a few Laidlaw or Darrah tweets spinning his words around so we don't think they mean what we thought they meant anymore all while saying how they meant it all to happen exactly this way.

After all he never showed any interest in the male mage warden.

That's what I am thinking. A casual "oh yeah Cullen is a companion and LI!" reveal on twitter feels a little awkward.

It's generally bad to break NDA's for legal reasons where they can sue you pretty heavily and it also builds you a bad reputation if you're one to just reveal stuff people will be less likely to hire you for that reason.

It's the LI confirmation that trips me up. Thus far we've been shown companions but the LI stuff has been kept secret. To have both in one shot before we had any sort of hint or character kit of Cullen is VERY surprising.

Then again Dragon Age: Inquisition itself was first announced via Twitter.

He didn't confirm it specifically. It was a vague confirmation.

I guess... if you consider this a hugely significant revelation. Doesn't seem highly unexpected. Also, one guy being sort-of-not-really confirmed as a party member in a fantasy video game is hardly worthy of a board meeting.

Yep, and Emily Wong awkwardly committed suicide on Twitter.

I can see it now:
Bioware Employee: "Sir, bad news. Greg Ellis just blabbed about Cullen."
Bioware Manager: "That's unfortunate." *gets on loudspeaker* "Alright everyone, delete anything involving Cullen immediately."

Oh no, I feel you on that. What I mean is whatever damage is done is done, and they can't take that back, only spin it so it suits them better. And they would never out Greg Ellis publicly on the forums if he broke his NDA. If there is any legal issues or bad blood, we won't know anything about it. I expect Bioware to be more exasperated parent than iron fisted dictator though.

"YES" doesn't seem very vague. Unless he was talking about something else. It was kind of hard to tell!

Well I mean this isn't that big of a surprise in all honesty, he was in the leaked Survey and someone looking almost just like him is in concept art.
