I'm pretty neutral on Cullen, didn't like him in Origins but he was pretty much the only sane voice outside Sebastian in the finale part of DA2. He does provide an interesting dynamic to the group. He knows Varric, they didn't really interact directly sure but Varric was there with Hawke on at least a few occasions, meaning they could have quite a bit to say to each other about Hawke, particularly if it was a Pro-mage ending. Also while Cassandra was working directly for the divine, Dev tweets imply she's questioning her faith a bit due to her interaction with Varric. And her mentality in the demo we saw a while ago was pragmatic, the need to Keep the Inquisition strong at the cost of Crestwood.Cullen strikes me as a Compassionate Conversative type, pro-templar to be sure but one who understands their protecting the mages not just keeping them locked up. 

Sebastian was sane? He was going to bring an entire army down on a city just because Hawke (who really didn't even have all that much political power) refused to kill someone. Someone who, I might add, Hawke had known for several years and may have shared a relationship/close friendship with. True, that person had committed a terrible atrocity, and he deserved to be punished for it, but to start a war just because some guy didn't have the heart to kill a friend/lover with his own hands is hardly a sign of sanity.

Well, consider that if true this is both the announcement of a new companion character and first to be suggested to be romancable. That said I agree that there are Cullen threads for this but I get it being 20 pages since it is big news.

I bet you this is all a misunderstanding... nothing was confirmed... except that cullen is in the game and has some sexy lines... for all we know he could be talking with a desire demon and you have to intervene.

Hi, I want to ask a quick question: did any of the devs mention how big in scope and miles is DAI going to be?

I ask because of some new info I red earlier about Witcher 3:

 

2 of the 3 main areas, namely Skillage and Novigrad, take up to 84,5 square miles... to comapre - Skyrim playarea is 14,8 square miles.

2 main areas that are the smaller ones. Third, Badlands, will be the biggest area to traverse with freedom.

So I guess the game will be HUGE. Which I  hope equals to hours upon hours of good fun. What do we know about DAI in this regard? Will the new tech and "next gen" approach result in similar grand adventure that will take us palces? Will we be able to roam free the lands? How big is the game in making?

Well... so that happened.

 

Well... I didn't feel much at all for Cullen in DAO, his complete screentime was less than 5 minutes out of a very very long game. I guess I sort of pitied him, but that too was gone by the time the final slides rolled.

I detested him in DA2 for reason I've explained elsewhere, and really don't want to elaborate upon here (but suffice it to say that I believe the path to true evil begins with considering other people to be less human than you). But then again, he was a rather minor character, so who knows what he's really like.

 

Congratulations to all the Cullen lovers! I say that wholeheartedly and sincerely.

 

I just hope BioWare can make him more likable (to me, at least) in this game.

You know, there are some other disturbing implications of Cullen being a companion, either we have a 6:3 sausage fest or even worse - dramatic moustache guy is not a companion

Well it's not disturbing, it's annoying, still, we don't know if he'll be a companion, still placing my bets on no; not only the gender ratio would by 6/3 for the sausages, but even worse, the class ratio would be 4/X/X for the warriors, just...ugh.

Feathers has been seen with a shield and a sword on both concept art and gameplay, as for Iron bull, the giant BFS he's holding screams warrior to me.

 

Of course, nothing is set in stone, but as it stands now, Cullen companion is a meh situation as far as I'm concerned.

Not necessarily. At the moment we know about Varric, Solas and Iron Bull and can assume the Grey Warden is a companion too. Cullen makes five. Meanwhile we have Cassandra, Vivienne and Sera on the other side of the scales.

Okay, so Feathers is definetely a warrior but Iron bull can be a rogue and still dual wield great swords, he is qunari after all and i dont see him using daggers that are shorter than his fingers

 

Edit: also, the Arishok dual wielded a great sword and an axe

So yes, the two chaps still in the running have significantly more chances that someone totally unknown, given that they were considered companions at some point.

Given that (if Cullen really is in the party, not just in the game) at least one of them has been cut, I'm not willing to assume that either of them are in. I think the gender ratio makes it a bit less likely that the last companion is Cole or Dorian. It absolutely could be, but we need more information before we can say for sure.

We can't say for sure and never will , it's all a big guessing game, some characters are just more likely than others, but that's not saying much.
