After ME2 one of the more... overinvested... Tali fans posted a long and disturbingly detailed analysis of what quarian sweat could smell/taste like, complete with chemical breakdowns and lists of what it could possibly be made of.

It's (probably not undeservedly) become a symbol of some of the more obsessed parts of Bioware's fanbase.

That seems like it goes slightly over the line of obssesed. It kind of makes me think that it's a shadowy place Simba must never go to.

Finally picked up my Those Who Speak hardcopy... of course, I can't read it, since I'm currently playing through Origins and DA2 (and I want to get through those before spoiling the story development with more recent content from the comic and lore book).

Unless the people who were there who seem to think that it was satire or a joke are correct.

Then it's just something that some people have decided to dishonestly use to disparage the fans who participate in the character discussions.

Anything to make them look disturbed, eh?

Even if it was a joke, a certain portion of the discussion on these forums really is legitimately disturbing, just like in any other community of people. Many of the internet sites that would dishonestly use (or have used)  that to disparage BSN fans have equally unbalanced members and discussion topics, if not vastly more so.

At least in this case, people are passionate about fictional characters that (I suppose?) contributes to their enjoyment of the story and games. That's far more positive than obsessing over real people to the point of derangement, or believing you're actually an cat/whale hybrid, or the terrifying insight into human nature that is some reddit subforums.

Well, I suppose there are those people who try to justify synthesis...

Otherwise, I'm hard pressed to think of anything legitimately "disturbing" that goes on here. Granted, I never follow the character forums too closely, but I obviously have yet to see anything that would concern me enough to even remember it. Are there people who are more passionate than others about expressing themselves? Sure. But isn't that what those threads are there for? Isn't that sort of the whole point of this community?

I don't know. I think if you're going to claim there's instances of "legitimately disturbing" discourse taking place here, you need to be able to back that up with actual discussions that you think cross that line. There are unsavory people here, to be sure, and lots of vapid and ridiculous conversation, but trying to denigrate certain topics and posters by claiming that they're somehow unhinged doesn't sit right with me.

Does this mean cloak and dagger phrases before intercourse?
Or am I in serious need of medical attention for that having been my first thought...

We've been wrestling with implementing a new system in DAIII. Woke up with a new angle of attack in mind. Hooray for offline processing?

LOL! I bet you're right, it'll be something like that or dialogue that leads us on only for the companion to be like "sorry, not interested!"

I think sexy dialogue must be among the toughest things to write. Its just sooooo awkward trying to be suave and foxy without it turning to porn and/or crap.

For me, at least.

I don't know why this feels like leaks from a slumber party, with Allan posing as the banned older brother..

Ha! Someone tell him to get a cup and listen at the door next time.

Though if all he has to come back with is 'volus sweat', maybe we don't want to know...

One would think that, but who are we kidding? We'll want to know anyway...

It can get pretty cheesy if not done correctly (I'm looking at you, ME2  FemShep).  In my mind DG reads it out loud to himself, complete with funny voices.

New information about Dragon Age: Until We Sleep 3

"Willing to embrace an evil that once nearly shattered reality, Magister Aurelian Titus must be stopped. King Alistair and his allies have traveled to the realm of nightmares to do so, but if the cost of victory is to sacrifice his father, will Alistair be able to pay the price?"[/i]

Hmm... Will Alistair fail to kill this Magister and by that releasing that evil capable of shattering reality? Maybe this is part of the setting for DA3 that will release all kinds of demons in the world?

And since the release date for this comic is end of May, maybe we will know enough of DA3 background because of GDC and PAX EAST in march and the DA: World of Thedas in april...

hmm... Too much?
