Ah, pigeon crap :( I like DLC characters... the concept at least. The delivery I've not always been a fan of. I liked Kasumi in Mass Effect 2, but I felt like her story started and ended on her loyalty mission. Shale was very enjoyable, just a constant stream of hilarity.

I kinda hated those DLC companions, not because of the characters (I really like Shale and Sebastian), but it's a bit disappointing when you get a game and it's not...'completed'. So I'm glad there won't be any of those in DA: I.

I'm totally fine with temporary companions like Tallis.

I'm content with the notion of fully integrated companions at the expense of DLC companions.

Yeah. I'm not heartbroken about this.

Edit: I should my amend to my opinion to say that I don't know enough about game development to have an opinion on this.

You would consider the game incomplete without those DLC companions? I consider them expansions on a complete game. From my understanding there's a long period after a game goes gold where the devs don't have a lot on ther plate, which gives them the oppurtunity to work on more stuff rather than twiddle their thumbs)

Which does not mean that there will be no DLCs that involve the old characters... origin stories or even base game add ons

furthermore: no new characters does also not mean that there might not be a DLC with previously known characters... or did they say "no character DLCs...period"

Im okay with that ^^ if we can learn more about our companions (new personal dialog)! What i disliked about dlc companions : example ''talis'' she was nice and fun but had barely 1 hour 30 of gameplay to learn about her and enjoy her story .. and as for sebastian he didint seem as well implented in the game then the others! on the other hand i appreciated all dlc character in origins but i can definitly live without having new dlc companions in  inquisition! Can't wait to actually learn more about them in Follower friday <3

But that's exactly BioWare's point: complete, fully integrated companions can only be done at launch, because the very depth of their integration necessitates some elements of their content to be included in the launch files.

Any companion created afterwords would have to be confined to the DLC in which he or she were introduced.

Personally I'm a bit disappointed by it. Because even though I didn't particularly like Sebastian as much as I initially thought I would, I still like my party to be filled with as many companions as possible, with as many diverse personalities as possible.

The lightning is gorgeous.

I think we saw that place in the Discover the DA world video.

(there's a bit of a problem , some strange brown line up on the right corner of the picture ^^)

I don't post here often, but this actually makes me sad. It feels a bit like people like me, who silently enjoy Bioware games and DLC (and don't mind paying or pre-order to get it) are getting punished because a few people don't like it and make noise about it.

I agree with you. :(

Yeah that's probably a rendering glitch.

Disagree about the lighting though, the chromatic aberration effect looks weird and doesn't suit DA at all. Hopefully we can turn it off in the options.

This is also part of what I loved the most about Dragon Age. Character variety means there's a greater probability of having a least one someone for each player to enjoy. There are people out there that love Zevran, Leliana, Anders, Fenris, etc., and get value from the game through them, even though I don't, and I love that, because it means more people are playing. Sebastian was the main reason I liked DA2 as much as I did (the only characters I liked were him, Varric, and, to some extent, Aveline). Everyone's got to have their favorites.

Surprisingly, the Arl of Denerim's estate, despite its long history of torture and murder. Don't remember seeing any demons there, and I've been through that place three times. And I think the Cousland estate was pretty demon-free before Arl Howe murdered everybody.

I'd already heard about no companion DLCs. At first I was excited because it is a bit annoying to have something to buy on top of the game on the first day but at the same time, like Gaider said, without it there would be no Shale. I like Shale. Hopefully the companions we do have are amazing.

No DLC characters is a bit disappointing considering Sebastian was the only reasonable person when it came down to siding with Mages vs Templars, and Javik was awesome. However considering everytime it's occured people have accused Bioware of intentionally releasing an unfinished game, I do get why they would want to avoid people throwing that around for a fifth time.
