Cassandra interrogating Varric happens after Asunder and this is what Mike was talking about. It seem to means that DAI start after Cassandra and Varric traveled from Kirkwall to somewhere else.

I'm not terribly excited about him either, mostly because he's got some heavy baggage that bothered me from the past games, especially DA2.  But I'm going to trust the writers, if they think they can do something with him.  I'm hoping he's got some kind of serious redemption arc going on, otherwise I'm going to be gritting my teeth every time he's around, like I was the last two games.  Cullen fans are welcome to their happiness though, I don't begrudge them that. 

 

I'm not fond of characters from previous games returning as companions in later games as a whole, I prefer getting new characters I know nothing about before playing the new game. I wasn't entirely happy about Varric returning either despite the fact that I love him as a character.

 

I don't begrudge the Cullenites their happiness because whether they're happy or not doesn't really factor in to it for me. Yeah, that sounds a little selfish but I don't pick a game or get excited for one based on what makes other people happy or not. I don't shake my fist in anger, it's more of a resigned sigh. It's in the game, can't do anything about that. I just have to hope that the second male LI is more to my liking.

Me too, which is a problem in some of these large sandbox games.

Me either but I'm thinking I might have to re-evaluate my completionist play style in DA:I or else risk insanity and endless frustration.

Could even turn out that you like DA:I Cullen over previous Cullens. Anders is a very different character between his appearances (albeit it fits imo) and you could surprisingly find yourself enjoying his new form as it were. Might work in reverse

On one hand my gay DA dream comes true. On the other hand it's effin Cassandra.

congrats to all cassandra and cullen fans. I'm still waiting for a worthy LI to be revealed. These female characters that we know about and what little info we have on them are interesting characters, yes, but none of them currently hold any LI status in my books.

I wish they would have told us which genders could romance the confirmed LIs. I could see Cullen ending up a straight romance, so I'm reluctant to be excited about it. It's a bit disappointing that this wasn't clear.

I don't mind old character returning as companions as long as they weren't explored much. I was never a fan of Isabella or Anders returning, though Merrill bore so little resemblance to her DAO self I basically saw her as a new character. Varric, I can live with because I feel he has a rich past we never really dug into in DA2. Cullen, I don't really feel like there's much more to him for us to look at.

That's actually really disappointing, to me. I wish they would have just held off announcing them until they could let EVERYONE know if these LIs would be available to them.

Well, it makes sense to reveal some now and some a little later. They may even leave the others for the players to discover.

Well, they didn't reveal the other companions yet despite their confirmation by a few magazines ( and there are a few characters in the concept art not even confirmed by magazines ). While Cullen didn't appear yet either, he's still a returning character, everyone knows him unlike Solas, Sera, Iron bull, etc. So I suppose that would be a bit useless right now to reveal the other Lis since nobody knows them. They'll talk probably a bit more about them first before, or they might even wait the release lol.
