I was freaked out enough by the pony-sized spiders, and then they came along with house-sized spiders.

Is it possible for them to get any bigger?? And with enhanced graphics too...

Larger spiders in games never felt scary to me. After human-sized they just keep getting dumber, imo. The giant spider in the deep roads in DA2 just made me laugh, really.

I know having arachnophobia can be a pain, but just try to think about the weaknesses larger spiders have, compared to the smaller ones. What is it you're so afraid if when it comes to spiders? That they'll climb on you? House-sized spiders can't do that. That they'll poison you? A general trend for many insectoid creatures is that the larger they are, the less poisonous they are. Those giant spiders are probably so large their poison couldn't hurt a fly, and that's very ironic.

Having spiders burst out from crates does sound very unpleasant, though. More from the shock value than from there being an actual spider in my case, but I do feel sorry for you and everyone else who'll be having trouble with the spiders in this game. :(

Just try to find things about the spiders (and any other creature that scares you) that you can find funny instead of focusing on the things that makes you scared!

*Grumbels* better keep that ice mage ready ;) ....and spiders that will jump scare you from crates sounds weird and terrifying at the same time :S. What's next, spiders with wings?.. :o...oh no, i didn't say ANYTHING!

I'm just gonna leave this here...  ;)

From Chris Priestly:
As an arachnophobe there is something about the eyes, legs & palps that always gives me the jibblies when we put giant spiders in our games.

And this game, there is something even worse.

For me it's the movement, which is why I'm oddly ok with big pet tarantulas who move slow but not the smaller faster moving buggers 0_o

You'll have to get past the defenses (which includes bees... )

Is the zombie kitten army still in place? Though at this point I'd think there would be no plate glass windows left... Anyone own a hang glider?

Spiders in video games don't bother me...In real life however I am reduced to a screaming, wibbling baby. Well, just about any bug for that matter.

If i have to react to it, if it's IRL or in a game where i'm in control of a character, and i need to dodge and try to kill it, it won't matter, it's gonna be kinda intense ^^ :). i'm happy we got the gravity we got IRL though so they don't grow to MEGA size :P

On a side note, please stop with those damned crawling, multiple eyes, furry nightmares :/

It's mostly that if the house-sized ones get too close, they literally take up the entire screen on my TV. It happened a couple of times in DA2 when I ran off to a high ledge/through a door and left my party to deal with it. Then they all died and I had to deal with the spider (for some reason it wouldn't let me hit it from up on a ledge with magic). So it was back down to the spider and -bam- giant spider face in my face. Perhaps with the overview camera being available on consoles now, I'll be able to zoom out sufficiently to avoid that.

I think I will avoid all crates! Or maybe send a companion to go deal with it!

Hehe, as long as it doesn't hinder you from experiencing everything the game has to offer, I suppose it's not too much of a problem! Besides, by fearing the spiders in the game you might actually become even more immersed in it than people like me who doesn't really fear monsters in games like dragon age, so in that way you might actually get an even greater gameplay experience than others!

...What? I'm just trying to find the positive effects from having arachnophobia! :D

Hey, I've got three skids of big-ass spiders here to unload. You want me to stack them up on the wall over here?

Seriously, **** spiders.

Just started a new playthrough of Origins in preparation for Inquisition. Tried doing the magi origin spider cellar quest and when the first spider dropped from the ceiling I literally fell backwards out of my chair.

Yeah, good luck with those things Ms. Senior Enchanter.

You know I never understood the video game fear of spiders.

Especially like in Skyrim where people got a mod to replace them with GRIZZLY BEARS.

I mean it is just a spider...that is not as scary as a grizzly bear.

A spider the size of a grizzly bear, on the other hand...

They've been recording. I don't know how much of it, but they have been. Earlier comment I overheard "thank goodness we're not recording this panel!"

I had to play most of Origins' caves with my eyes closed.

it got that bad. The spiders falling from the ceiling on top of me was just too much to deal with. I could almost handle watching it through my fingers with the sound down, but never knowing when they'd take up most of the screen was infuriating and pretty scary.

So, yeah. Spiders suck. I wish developers would stop putting them in games, and I definitely wish they'd stop using spiders as a shock tactic. If they explode out of random crates in DA:I I'm going to have a hard time playing the game.
