If I press two awesome buttons simultaneously,  what happens?  Does the universe cease to exist in the face of so much awesomeness?

^No, but the Dragon Age franchise will certainly cease to exist.

Interesting. Not much announced as of yet besides the name and a few customization tidbits, but still not bad. Once the previews and features start coming in, I'll be able to throw in objective feedback. As of now, all we seem to know is

a) The New Title
B) Many of the DA:O devs are making a re-visit here.
c) We have a new engine.

IDK. Am I the only one that feels like having a sub-title makes it feel like it's....less? Now I never played any DA game and I don't even know wtf it's about, but I always felt that just having XXXXX 2 or XXXXX 3 sounded more official. Having the sub-title makes it feel more like a side thing. But what do I know.

The first game actually had a subtitle. I don't see how it makes it feel less though. The Witcher 2 had a subtitle didn't it? I would argue that TW2 is much better than the original.

Maybe they're hoping that people will start shortening the title to Inquisition like people shorten to Skyrim. Plus the first Dragon Age had a subtitle, and that one was associated with quality. While the second didn't have a subtitle, and that one is associated with a noticeable lack of quality.

Also, DA2 was, in fact, roundly criticized in some circles for not having a subtitle. "Dragon Age 2" implying that it was a continuation of the story of Dragon Age: Origins, when it plainly was not (whether or not you think that's a good thing). Originally titled "Dragon Age: Exodus", which in addition to being a better descriptor of what the game was actually about, would have helped to emphasize the party line that the Dragon Age games are a series of games about a world, rather than about a single story.

It's kind of a nit-picky thing, but all the same. And I think naming the new iteration "Dragon Age III: Inquisition" is a bit of recognition of that, in addition to a being a compromise to people like myself who think like the above and marketing, who get their shiny "3" and brand recognition or whatever other benefits they think it confers.

We'll see soon enough how much fan feedback they listened to or not. Personally, I'm not holding my breath.

Accepting and encouraging fan feedback does not mean that BioWare is obligated to agree with it or implement it in any way. It just means that BioWare will take the feedback into consideration when planning and creating the game.

In addition to fan feedback, BioWare also considers internal feedback, how they themselves felt about the game and what they want to, can, or will change/improve. Fan feedback is ultimately non-binding, but it just makes sense that the more BioWare hears about some suggestions, the more they will be considered because it means more people are interested in that particular feature or idea. That does not mean, however, that the loudest, most obnoxious, and most frequent users will have their ideas considered more than others.

nicley stated. also not to add fuel to a possible fire but couldnt this be stated for the mass effect series as well?

I won't be getting this, unless I am absolutely blown out of the water with high quality, rich open exploration, unique and good loot, deep customization and attention to detail.

Then, if that occurs, these must occur:

-No Origin
-No forced multiplayer
-Mature themes
-unique dungeons

I have plenty to play, including at that point next year, no doubt, Skyrim ULTIMATE EDITION.

So I'll pay attention, but I'm not excited, pumped or expecting too much.

LOL. A big problem is Bioware listening too much. Considering most of their fanbase, which is more concerned about which characters (and whatever else) they'll be able to screw 10 different ways. rather than actual gameplay, encounter design and proper rpg mechanics.

About five minutes ago, across the first two pages of the DA3 forum I counted twelve topics about romance/LI's. I really don't understand the mindset where asking a character questions, agreeing with them and then doing a quest for them just to see them get naked is more important than the other 20+ hours of the game. I dread to think what listening to that feedback will bring.

Hey now if BW Doesn't have a cactus LI I'm not buying. Join with me BSN, Catus LI or Boycot, if the whole forum can demand various silly LI's then so can we, we will have the very most strangest of them all.

I loved the romances in Dragon age:Origins, but honestly could play the game without them. The Dragon Age 2 LIs' were extremely bland, while the ones in Dragon Age 3 are probably just going to end up being purely fan-serviced. (Varric, Isabella, Cullen, etc...)

I wonder when they're looking at releasing. They do seem to like March and the ME3 forums were opened 6 months before the game was released.

That's something I've never really understood with this place. What is it with the obsession with romances? They're supposed to be subplots not the main focus. Do people really like them for the "emotion" or is there some other less than reputable reason? Personally I think they should stop worrying about stuff like that and worry more about story, gameplay or things that weren't done well in DA2.

Remember when Mass Effect 2 first came out? For the first few months, the giant Tali thread made up half the posts in the ME forums alone. That was really scary.

I mean there's nothing wrong with liking a character, and wanting more out of the romance. That's justifiably part of the story and gameplay. But I do wish there was less of an emphasis on them too. Much less.

The romances weren't even that good in Dragon Age 2. They felt extremely railroaded with the time skips and the lack of dialogue. In Origins you could romance companions at any point in the game. I could recall on one character where he had Leliana fully romanced before I even finished the first treaty quest. They felt like my character's lover and was even sad to hear that they may get separated at the end. In the second game you could only open the option at certain points, bed with them by the end of act 2, then have them move into your house by act 3. That was it, really. They felt more like a short fling and never really had connection with my Hawke.
