LOL. A big problem is Bioware listening too much. Considering most of their fanbase, which is more concerned about which characters (and whatever else) they'll be able to screw 10 different ways. rather than actual gameplay, encounter design and proper rpg mechanics.

About five minutes ago, across the first two pages of the DA3 forum I counted twelve topics about romance/LI's. I really don't understand the mindset where asking a character questions, agreeing with them and then doing a quest for them just to see them get naked is more important than the other 20+ hours of the game. I dread to think what listening to that feedback will bring.

In general, I think romances have become overly emphasized and need to go. With BG2 and KotOR they felt new and presented us with new ways of approaching interactive narrative. But nothing else has been done with the concept, especially since Bioware has become more concerned with providing more and more love interests recently (DA:O and Mass Effect). If Love Interests are to remain, I'd prefer something more in the style of KotOR 2 with its more serious tone.

It may sound weird, but Metacritic mostly represents my opinion on games. And IGN, PC Games and others will give DA3 20\\10 no matter what.

The romances weren't even that good in Dragon Age 2. They felt extremely railroaded with the time skips and the lack of dialogue. In Origins you could romance companions at any point in the game. I could recall on one character where he had Leliana fully romanced before I even finished the first treaty quest. They felt like my character's lover and was even sad to hear that they may get separated at the end. In the second game you could only open the option at certain points, bed with them by the end of act 2, then have them move into your house by act 3. That was it, really. They felt more like a short fling and never really had connection with my Hawke.

Oh come on! Everyone wants a living statue for the house...much better than a gargoyle...yes?

But yes, I agree. In DA2 even just trying to be best pals with the companions...seemed liked they only wanted to talk about personal quest or endless rant about pet peeve. Could never get to "know" them as people. So to speak.

The exception maybe was Varric. I think everyone liked him.

While it ripped out my heart and stomped on it a bit, I really liked the Aveline romance writing quite a lot. And her humor along with Varric made for refreshing times on the various quests.

Well the Inquistion forums already seem inhospitable to me.

DA2 was released early 2011, so late next year makes it over 2.5 years.

Two and a half whole   years?

Thats enough time for two awesome buttons!

If I press two awesome buttons simultaneously,  what happens?  Does the universe cease to exist in the face of so much awesomeness?

No. A blackhole formed with in a transdimensional paradox of awesomeness spawns a seemingly endless button frenzy of mediocrity.  Read the EA small print.

Did they announce this just to distract from the grave news of the founders retiring? Is BioWare now what Valve would be if Gabe Newell retired and Valve was part of Activision?

This is signature-worthy.
