1. TALKING TO YOUR COMPANIONS. PLEASE, bring back the option of randomly shooting the breeze with your companions. I missed how in Origins, I could spend an hour in camp reloading just to see what else Sten would say in response to different questions. I liked how in Awakening, you could interact with certain objects of interest to trigger convos. Like Nathaniel and the painting of his mother. But, the fact that this was the only way to talk to your companions (besides gifts and them triggering it at the keep) kind of sucked. If there was a mixture of both in three, I'd LOVE that.
2.SINGLE-PLAYER! I am seriously hoping the game can stay single player and co-op just be there for whenever you feel like touching it. I really don't want to be forced to play online. It's really sad that a single-player, immersive story is slowly dying with games.
3. CASUAL RELATIONSHIPS. Bring back casual relationships! I didn't like how relationships could only be started at a certain point in DA2 or you missed them forever (unless you had an earlier save). EX: I knew Fenris had problems, I didn't want to just drop this heavy relationship on him all at once at this critical point in his life. It was unrealistic, I wanted to be his actual friend first without having to drop flirts every single conversation. It was cringe-worthy. Every conversation he's talking about being abused by some pervert and you're like, "hayy
4. THE DIALOGUE WHEEL.
a. I loved it, I like having a talking protag almost as much as a silent one. However, I'd also like the little icons to go away or something.. It's boring that there's always just three options.
b. No more FORCED FLIRTING. I didn't want to flirt with Anders. I also didn't want to constantly ****** off the bipolar creep because I didn't want him.
c. I want the little snippets on the wheel to actually represent what is being said, because many times it was way off. It barely caught the jist.
5. CUSTOMIZATION. I already read that this is going to be a big deal, but here's my two cents. HAIRSTYLES. The DA2 hairstyles were just recycled from the previous games. Okay, that's cool But can we get some more? Instead of 10 hairstyles for each gender, make like 30 unisex. If a guy wants pigtails or a bun, let 'em have em! If a girl wants cornrolls (I did) let 'em have 'em! That's for the benefit of us console users lol.
6. WARDEN CAMEO. I want to see my warden (NOT AS PC) or atleast hear about her. She's an important political figure, TOO important to just become a cipher in the Mage-Templar thing. Yes, Wardens don't get involved in politics but she is the Warden Commander, she's a elven mage that burned down Amaranthine (which in itself caused trouble for the simple fact she is an elf and nobles thought it was an act of "revenge"), she's Alistair's mage-grey-warden-chancellor-mistress and basically runs Ferelden when Alistair is away, she's the reason Anders even was around to blow up the chantry (he is also a mage warden *gasp*) , she killed a Templar lieutenant (Rylock, I think. She was walking with the King. She's obviously important!). My Warden is the embodiment of everything that is going wrong, not to mention some people already think the Grey are a bunch of liars that worship and summon Archdemons. This alllll seems like a big reason for her to get lynched in DA3 and make the situation even more volatile. I can see the now free mages wanting her to lead them, or using her as inspiration simply for being a mage that defeated the Archdemon. This brings me to my next point..
7. MORE CONSEQUENCES FOR OUR ACTIONS.
8. REVAMPED BATTLE.
a. Fighting was tedious in DA2 whereas it wasn't in Origins! Make the combat attractive but also more strategy based. The same button mashing over...and over... I'm playing an RPG, I'm not looking for God of War Style fighting. But since I guess it's here to stay, there should be more moves added to the main X attack combo as you level, or spend points on it, that would be great.
b. No more enemies randomly falling out of the sky, please! Just make the enemies hard again. I'd rather die from some OP boss than get overwhelmed by BS randomly falling out of the sky. I can understand Qunari jumping from rafters, or Spiders coming down on silk.. But templars in their big burly armor and skirts flipping out of the sky from a cliff? Nah.
c. IMPROVE BOSS BATTLES. The boss battles were much more inclusive in DA2. Not just pounding away, watching your health and guzzling potions like in Origins. Or atleast, y'all tried to make it that way. EX: I liked how in the Rock Wraith battle, you had to move you characters out of the way or get hurt badly. But since the battle was sooo long and there were no changes to the exact same routine, it got boring. Same with fighting Danarius, I actually made him glitch because I ran into the upstairs hall and he was only meant to disappear/reappear in two key locations.
Thanks for reading!

This isn't a huge deal and it's not something that will make me get mad over but if we could have just that bit more I'd be happy.
2) Character development. I'd love to see and discover my companions in my time at my own pace, i don't want to be locked into doing it like in DA2. I want the freedom of being able to talk to my companions, or to recruit them, whenever I want. (Obviously not right before the climax of the story but you know)
I'd like some in-depth characters that have interesting backstories that can either be tragic and dark OR happy and light-hearted. I don't always want a character who broods about how hard their life is and how they feel like giving up all the time. Once in a while, yes, I mean that's normal. But I don't want every second sentence of theirs to be about how they're oppressed tortured souls. 'Specially when my character can't bring up their past.
I'd also like to see a cameo of a few old companions - not necessarily bringing them back as companions again. I want a set of new companions, but seeing the old ones as well will be fun.
3) Specializations. I'd like to see specializations such as Arcane Warrior, Shapeshifter, Ranger, etc come back. And seeing the consequences for being a certain class would add more... realism, I guess? I don't want to walk around as a mage, with robes and a staff, only to have the mage-oppressors tolerate me because I'm a noble or because I'm helping.
I mean, it's probably strange to request that I want to be looked down upon from being a mage - but I find that if I don't it just means my PC is pretty much immune to the universal laws of Thedas. I'd like people to be skeptical over me if I'm a rogue, and stereotype me as a thief. I'd like people to dislike/hate me for being a mage. I'd like people to be weary of me if I'm a warrior, thinking i'm some kind of half-wit brute.
If the people in Thedas are anything like the people in real life, some will probably think like this.
4) More places to go and unique designs. I picture Orlais as a beautiful, rich, vibrant country filled with beautiful, rich, vibrant citizens to match. Kirkwall seemed very basic and dull to me. I'd love to see some more variables in the environments. Don't get me wrong, I don't picture Orlais as perfect, there could be many places that are dull and dark and filthy where the homeless and the elves live.
Hopefully with the Frostbite engine, we'll get that.
5) No more bending the rules. No more ignoring me if I'm a blood mage, no more having female fighters in the Qun (Tallis), no more bringing dead companions from previous games back to life. You have a great world, great history and great mythology. Don't abandon them for the sake of the game. Let us play the game how we wish to play it, don't stick us in a room and read us a book on how it should be played.
Give us freedom, and give us the consequences and responsibilities that come with that freedom.

Well, almost.
A little better thought out combat system would be preferred.
Story, narrative and theme. Don't swap themes 10 mins towards the end.
Companions.
Don't need a whole stable of them, but by god, make them more than just one/two dimensional.
Full range of endings that made sense without too many plot holes or "the rule of cool" trumping common sense.
After ME3, I am not expecting miracles.
But I am expecting at least a story and game that I won't look back and regret playing.

I love DAO and still play it. It is the most re-playable game I own (and I many, including The Elder Scrolls, Guild Wars games, Mass Effect series, and many other RPGs) and, until I saw it, I was really looking forwards to a DA2.
I hate DA2. If I had been on that team I would have been fired for making a public apology for it's existence. It fell into every trap I had been praying that it wouldn't and others to boot. I played the trial for a few hours and ditched it as worse than dead.
I have high hopes for DA3. I have no idea how far along this game has already come and I know that many of my suggestions have been considered extremely radical by other gaming communities. None the less, the technology to create a worthwhile game has existed for a good long time (many years) now and no-one has come even close to what I've been hoping for.
So; for the five most important things in any RPG, with a Dragon Age twist:
1) Total Character Customization.
DAO had a fair degree of customisation but not nearly enough. Multiple race options are a staple of modern RPGs so, obviously; as many races as possible. They must be different in subtle but important ways. Furthermore the race and Origin Story (DAOs were good, but too few in number) should have lasting impacts on how I am perceived by the characters. Also, after the release of Awakening I thought that you could have released Darkspawn races. Then there are the inhabitants of the Fade that could zip across the veil; it would be so cool to be able to play as a Spirit of Justice or a Desire Demon, especially because these things presented a grey-morality.
2) A world consisting of a vast variety of interconnected simulations; economic, trading, migration, reputation, criminal activity, plant growth, daily living (MUST include the oft-overlooked toilet!
For example, I sell a sword to the trader in my camp in DAO and the whole game later he still has it. How does a trader make money like this? The simulated travellers, adventurers, villagers and so forth might have bought it from him, then sold it again and so forth. If I then ask Bodan where that particular sword is all he will be able to tell me is who bought it from him. To find it I would need to find that person, who he sold it to and so on.
In this way, not only does everything done in the world automatically effect everything else on a grand, perhaps exaggerated, scale creating an endless string of self-generating stories and quests.
Why should I not be able to start a war between the Templars and Mages?
3) Grey Morality
If I think murder is good and I can convince others of it too then it is, as far as my party is concerned, good. We should be able to project our real morality as well as any arbitrary one we might imagine into the game with total flexibility.
4) Smart Baddies
One of the things I hated most in Skyrim was the Dragons. Each one had maybe a dozen possible actions and no variation of theme. If you could kill one dragon, you could kill all dragons of the same strength. The enemies that we face, as well as our allies, must have as broad a range of tactical knowledge and variability as possible. And, just because it is still the best companion control system I know, bring back DAO's pause and tactical views.
5) A Map
All games have a map. All games also split it into little places that we can explore individually. A map that, without a single additional loading point (When we have to wait for it to load), excluding fast travel, we can explore in its entirety, with a vast array of environments and cultures. Detail is paramount; as a player I want to find every single codex entry, gain every award and visit every place. I spend my time on DAO searching the same towns and places over and over again. Make exploration difficult, rewarding, and totally free.
And a better skills system, something about ten times as large, complex and interconnected.

I also loved how many sidequests there were in Dragon Age 2.
I missed being able to talk to my characters anywhere, and I liked the romancing in DAO better.
However, there is one dialogue in Dragon Age Origins that annoyed me.
When you break up with Alistair and he says "Can I ask why?"
It gives you a few different choices, however his response is the same no matter what you chose.Don't do this.It just annoyed me , I mean I would think he would be more hurt when you say "There's someone else" compared to "This just isn't working out".

2. Alistair/Anders/Fenris
3. More creativity with the dungeons/maps
4. Multiplayer aspect
5. A storyline that isn't all over the place and can draw me in as much as the storyline of DA:O did

2. (Seems to be a favorite on this thread) Choices that matter in-game and callback on choices you made in previous games. Some can be subtle that you may never really notice it as an effect. (Example: Saving that guy's shop from Jarvias people when he was about to be shook down would allow his business to expand for some reason and you see it in DA:3, only an example)
3.More solutions to each situation you come across, in DA:2 and a lot of DA:O It was either Fight or Persuade, the most basic right? But to branch off from that to have the situation to end in a variety of ways that may be class specific like if you are a blood mage and you come across a slaver and you wish to see the slaves freed but if you did start a fight they would kill the slaves, have your mage take control of him to free them or something as such.
4. A nice wrap-up epilogue that DA:O offered and not the type in DA:2 that really didnt include any of the choices you made just the final choice and your romance. Or at least a DLC That could build off of the ending to give you insight of what happened after the ending.
5. PC building. My favorite thing is that (Your origin may help with this) The choices in what you say or how you handle things builds how your character reacts to different things and how we talks (Kind of like the dominant tone in DA:2) Because Id love it to have my guy start off as nice and over time the events kind of change him and he becomes all bad-ass and hard-hearted. Like in the beginning (If he were a mage) he would restrain his powers as to not hurt people around him and he would try to coerce the situation first and try to be polite but if you make him be harder as time goes when he has a chance to persuade he would just be like "You have one chance" And if they still stay hostile to the situation your guy just kind of... Burns them on the spot.

ME2 and ME3 both have DLC for that interactive comic book. I love that idea and really wish something like that had been introduced for DA2 instead of that annoying very scripted and pre-determined choices we had. I now have 2 full playthroughs of DA2 done but the honest fact is I would love to have a bunch of different possibilities for what happened in DA2 to choose from for this next iteration.
So, have an interactive comic book like ME2 and ME3 had at launch. And include it with the bloody game at no extra cost. Seriously, I have to pay 320 MS points for a comic book thing that allows me to choose past decisions from two other games? Admittedly I own both games but I would rather not have to do a run through on both JUST to get a different history for my run through on ME3 (or in this case DA:I)

2) My Warden being playable.
3) Option to play as either Warden, Hawke or "new" character.
4) Plenty of variety in the places we can visit. Please, no duplicated map areas.
5) More consideration for the RPG roots of the game.

2) More caracter devellopement from the companions
3) Dungeons, not one reused but a lot. It's ok reusing assets, everyone do it, but the dungeon were blands and at one point you just run from objectives hoping it's done fast, even randomly generated dungeon are better than what was done.
4) The "awsome button", only available for looting corpse, because clicking on each corpse can get pretty boring and I'm lazy. But in fights deactivate the functionnality
5) No waves of ennemies that appears out of thin air... In fact I prefer less but stronger ennemies with a real AI to mindless lemmings just jumping on your blade.

Oh, and the Dialogue wheel (if the atrocity must stay) doesn't have to be 'GOOD' 'FUNNY' 'DOUCHE', it can be 'TOP OPTION - BRANCH 1' 'MIDDLE OPTION- BRANCH 2' and 'LOWER OPTION - BRANCH 3' for, say, kind evil options, happy nice options, neutral options, sarcastic ones, basically the amount of Origins dialogue options but condensed into a wheel. If this was implemented to my ever perfect and absolutely undeniable specifications, I'd even spring for more (though silent protagonists are the best option in my, and likely the minority's opinion)
And whatever you do, do not explain the Black City/make the realm beyond the fade and Morrigan's potential child be Catalyst 2.0/Give all people in Thedas magic or remove all magic/etc, honestly I'd rather the Qunari just jump all of us and convert everyone to the Qun than any of that come to pass
I won't hide it, I loved damn near everything about DA:O and only mildly liked some points about DA2 and I say more than likely DA:I will be a great dissapointment to the series, but for the sake of the game story I've come to appreciate I hope I'm wrong

2. a multiplayer co op mode like ME3's except you use your created single player character.
3. more in depth class specialization (warriors and rogues should both be able to use melee and ranged weaponry)
4. more in depth AI conversation ( like Da 1 where you could talk to anyone at anytime and they talk amongst themselves when travelling)
5. co op feature so you can have 4 of your friends bring thier created characters to accompany you on your quest.

we should be able to ride on ships
we should also have air ships .
more sarcastic comedy da 2 seemed to gives a obiwan sarcastic response that we don't tend to get in most games. I want more of this.
The ability to change outfits and such. I didn't like how da 2 didn't let you change outfits for other characters. don't get me wrong the outfits where cool but ...

What are the top 5 things you are hoping to see in DA3
For me it has to be:
1. Returning characters, particularly Morrigan and Isabela
2. Improved combat tactics mechanics - Its very frustrating when tactics end up broken, I love the tactical element so I'd like to see them get this right first time
3. A Multi-player mode that does not affect the single player campagin
4. Choices that matter - Lets see consequences to choices from both DA3 and even DAO and DA2
5. In depth characters - Bioware always do a great job with characters, but I'd really like to see more interaction with companions, not just a "Isabela wants to speak to you type thing"
Thoughts ?

More in depth relationships, more conversations, the little things ya know? Talk of family with your LI, maybe your mabari has a litter of puppies, say you overhear someone quizzing your LI for the juicy details and you can either eavesdrop or bust into the conversation and if you eavesdrop, you can ask your LI about it later like, "So...I'm that good huh?," just random events that bring you closer to your companions. More of that.
2. Customization:
I want to be able to customize my clothing...girlish I know but But BUT I wasn't fond of the party clothes in MotA and I liked the estate clothes in DA2 but I would have liked to have the option of changing them if I choose to. Not just set outfits either, I want something like, top 1, with pants 4 and shoes 3. Also more hair choices (I would have killed for default lady Hawke's hair), maybe makeup styles, scars even would be cool and maybe even a body tattoo feature? like in the sims.
I just might want a griffon stamped on my arse.
3. Origins:
We definitely know that we are human and that we get to pick an origin, like in ME. I want it to greatly impact the story, say I was a bard who fell in love with a target and something went wrong and lover boy died...or so I thought! There he is, causing trouble with you and your LI but it turns out lover boy just wants revenge...dramatic huh? no, just a bit cheesy. I end up in a dungeon and my LI has to bust me out, thus bringing us closer together as we drive a knife through lover boy's heart...literally. I guess this just might fall back to companions.
4. Explanations:
WHAT IS FLEMETH? WHAT IS SANDAL? WHAT IS COLE?
TELL ME. LEMME KNOW, COME ON I GOTTA KNOW. TELL ME.
WHERE IS MY WARDEN? IS HE OK? IS SHE OK? WTF DID MORRIGAN DO? WHAT'S SHE DOING? WHERE IS MY BABY? DID HE GET MY DASHING GOOD LOOKS? WHAT'S FLEMETH DOING? DID STEN EVER OVERCOME HIS COOKIE ADDICTION? HAS HE CONQUERD HIS HABIT OF BULLYING FAT KIDS?
5. Important Events/ Random Events:
Orlesion Ball. Customizable dress. Dancing. Make it happen.
Drinking game with companions.
Cards.
Being hit on by undesirables. "You heart worm you."
etc. I can't really come up with anything else right now.
Everything else that could ask for Bioware has already pretty much promised. I'm heavily looking forward to DA3 and especially E3 news.

Laidlaw also confirmed the ability for players to import their save files from the first two games into Dragon Age III to "shore up world consistency." Mark Darrah later stated that BioWare is looking into creating ways to include choices made in previous titles without the need for a Save File transfer system.
is that for real of the save file aint gonna get imported then we gonna be stuck with only core/pre-built typo options to choose from....so the choices i make (which makes my warden/hawke not extremely bad/good but mixed or certain such choices that...u know...are generally left to the player to choose and arent otherwise mandatory to be chosen in the a specific manor) will not at all matter in that case...wouldnt it make me playing dragon age origins/awakening/DA2 waste of time in a certain sense?!

if im not wrong of what that means thats gonna be pretty darn bad for the game...i mean i would wanna hear my character say the dialogue i choose and not just sometimes move the eyebrows or do some very limited action with hands when i click the dialogue....i mean then it was fine esp coz of the gr8 story of doa otherwise then too the game would have fallen a little coza no voice...and if we want that to happen now (more so as most/all games now-a-days have main character with voice) well DA3 would be undergoing a very bad experience...

2) Better character creator cause I really hated the one in DA2 it took me forever to get my Hawke to look decent (thank god for the Black Emporium dlc) mainly cause the way Hawke looked in the cc and then in actual gameplay was really different
3) CHOICES THAT MATTER!!! Both from previous games and during DA3 itself, thats one of my biggest problems with both Mass Effect and Dragon Age is that I spent ages agonising over certain choices only for it to make absolutely no difference anyway, it will really increase the replay value as well. I also liked how some choices seemed like the "right" thing to do but in the end maybe weren't, for example Harrowmont vs Bhelen for king, I chose Harrowmont cause he seemed like the better option (and because after playing through the Dwarf Noble Origin....well enough said) but there were aspects of his rule/values that weren't in line with my view e.g. the surfacer issue, so more morally dubious choices would be nice for me at least
4) Some references to Hawke and my Warden the choices they made and the companions too
5) NO REUSED ENVIRONMENTS!! i.e. caves and mansions etc. cause in DA2 they were all exactly the same and by the end of the game I was severly bored after geing through the same cave fighting the same spiders in the same place for the hundreth time
6) Seeing more of the world, maybe going to different countries that we've heard so much about, I wanna see what Antiva or Orlais is like for example

Retour en haut
