the way things are going I feel I have to say
1) the ability to play the game on a console without ever connecting to the internet
2) for the game to feel complete (in story and balance) without dlc or multiplayer
3) for "importing" into the game not depend on an internet connection

4) for choices to have significant in-game consequences
5) for choices to have been thought through properly so as to not feel at odds with the rest of the game (i.e. make it not like the Mass Effect 3 ending)

Well, then, there's a lot of big general things on this thread, I'll list a couple small things I think would be cool to see.

1. Kal-Sharok and the Tevinter Dwarves...Also Golems. I love golems, I think they're one of the coolest concepts in game. I feel as though a lot of their plot line was kinda of covered in DA:O, but there's still more out there, and I think there's potential there for a story.

2. Qunari technologies/cities. Apparently the Qunari actually have quite a few technological achievements not known to the residents of Thedas, I'd like to see them in action.

3. Bombs, poison and traps, bring them back. I love crafting systems in games, and I really enjoyed having my rogue in DA:O being the tinkering, mixing sort who made use of his craft to make clever, tactical weapons and traps under the cover of shadows. I know there was a system like that in DA:II, but it didn't feel quite as intuitive using them. I think it would be really interesting to have a build based around these clever tools.

4. More on the Tranquil, particularly in relation to perhaps finding a cure, seeing as how I think tranquility has a lot of potential as a major plot point next game. It'd also be interesting to learn more about the procedure that gave Fenris his lyrium tattoos as well.

5. Griffons...Merrill and I agree wholeheartedly on this subject, there should be Griffons, and I should be able to ride one.

1. My Warden with Morrigan and the Child. Maybe my Hawke too.
2. Moddable with the Nexus.
3. No repeated places.
4. Choices that matter.
5. A LONG GAME ! Longer than DA2, longer than DAO !

1) MORE-IGAN (see what I did there)
2) Epic battles (like the final push in DO:A...just amazing)
3) Supernatural antagonist I don't just want Mage Vs. Templar
4) A killer story w/ great relationships
5) Choices that matter.

I've already said what I wanted on this but after seeing the trailer for the gazillionth time i'll add in something else

PLEASE DONT MAKE ANOTHER ME3. i mean, i know there were lots of things wrong with ME3 (and that the devs on DA and ME are completely different teams) but the thing that got me down the most was how dark it was. millions of people dying, former squadmates dying, Shepard stressing the motherf*ck out, Liara losing her home, fighting an impossible battle, etc. etc.

It was all just so depressing, even before i finished the game i was heartbroken at how dark everything had gotten. i know that the world is at stake in DA:I as well but I'm hoping they can tone down just how rapid the danger is spreading so that it can still be funny and happy without seeming shallow.

i mean sure toss in a few dark moments (one of those moments better not kill Varric off, i will cry) here and there as the story goes on. But please, please give us the ability to immerse ourselves into the story WITHOUT making us broken, sobbing wrecks.

i know you like fan-tears bioware but jeez. i dont think i'd be able to take it.

Cheers to that...I was just talking about this in another thread, balance, balance, balance. At the same time, I think maybe the "open world" will counteract that, it implies we're gonna see a lot of different places, some of which will have to be at least somewhat intact in order to differentiate them, otherwise all the war-torn piles of rubble are gonna start looking awfully samey, something I'm pretty sure the devs are trying to avoid this time around after the complaints from DA2.

Ehh, some people can handle that much drama, so people can't. I say 40 hours is a rather long time to be stuck in such a very bleak environment, I like earthy, grey tones as much as the next guy, but some brighter colors would be nice too.

Also ME3 is a very different environment, you've been building up to ME3 with the same characters and the same worlds for several games. You already have the right relationship with them to make their deaths/destructions that much more dramatic.

Dragon Age however, keeps showing you different parts of the world, and is constantly dragging new characters and cultures into the games. We already know it's going to taking place in Orlais, an area we're largely unfamiliar with, and we're likely to have a lot of new companions as well. It'll need to be at least a little bit lighter at some points in order to give us time to adjust to, learn about, and start caring about the new stuff before it's all destroyed, otherwise the darkness won't have the right impact, we'll see some building get blown up and go "intellectually I know I should care, but I haven't had the time to develope and emotional connection with this yet."

What I would like to see is a more interactive environment. I think I wrote down this somewhere but I'll just type it again. In DA2 we had the opportunity to buy a mine. That's it. Just to buy it and nothing else. Before buying we could defend it a few times up to the point when everyone got eaten. When becoming the champion we only got some gold. I didn't rly feel like I was important or I could do anything special and influential. So I guess I would be happy if the world reacted to what I chose to do. If I bought a farm I would get say money for the crops, had to scare of bandits and such.

Another thing I would like to see is a dual wield warrior. I loved my Gray Warden Elf with two blades.

I would really like to see some of our old friends return. They don' even have to be companions but being able to talk to them and have a few meaningful conversations is what BioWare is rly good at (GJ there guys). My list:
Zevran
Isabella
Oghren
Sten
Liliana (but I gues she will be there at some point)
Anders (without the character change)
Alistair
Aveline (would love to see her before anything else happens -Asunder)

Another thing would be to have some kind of good crafting system. Not only potions and runes but armours and weapons. It's a magical world so there is bound to be something out there that can be turned into a powerful item right? It can even be a longer quest (that is always nice) On a side note I liked the smith from Origins.

Ohh and I heard we might get to use a castle and maybe even have something like a small army? If it is something like in Neverwinter 2 then I would love to customize it (armour colour, type of armour used, pick the commanders and the training personnel) Ofc that would also define how good said army would perform on the field and carrying out tasks. A nice thing would be if your character could also take part in some missions with the soldier groups that get sent somewhere.

I also want more dialogue. Like a separate option with several questions i can ask and return to the main conversation like in DA:O.

I think it would be cool to also have a good/evil system or renegade/paragon? From the trailer I feel like DA:I even hints towards being able to creat your character as a good, Law abiding leader or a Evil bastard. And also some other alignment options like chaotic good/evil, neutral. You know the good old days. Plus the environment could react to you. Like shopkeepers would have discounts or give you higher prices. A persuade/threaten system depending on the alignment?

Now BioWare I know the game is a "Action RPG" but still it is a rpg. I would just like to have fun and be able to play my character. Lately it seems like there is too little rpg-ing out there.

Combat could use some more heroism. Like combos performed by yourself and a companion with a short "cinematic" pause or something. After all you said there would be more tactics in combat so I guess that gives an opportunity for said combos. I don't really have an idea on how to make fights more heroic. If I were to point to a situation that shows what I mean it would be the ME2 DLC Arrival where you had to fight the personnel of the alliance base. I threw everything at them to my last thermal clip. Yeah that felt like a good fight. I hope some people get what I mean.
Also I liked the slow motion killing in DA:O.

This idea might be a bit stupid but how about earning the specialization through a quest? Not just lvling up to a certain lvl and you can pick it or by talking to a companion but actually doing something with some lore and stuff? There are a few factions out there after all.

Treasures! Digging! Always liked those kind of things :P But yeah that might also be non-DA material. But you guys are making a bigger world so I was thinking that something like gathering (don't know what exactly) or other things to use the environment to its full potential would be nice. You know - there is always something to do - kind of world.

That is all I have for now. Thx for reading and sorry if my ideas are bad. I like dreaming.

1. No more immature underwear dry humping romance scenes. Liara is proof Bioware knows how to make tasteful scenes.

2. More character creation options.

3. toned down enemy encounters, DA2 was ridiculous.

4. Worth-while DLC options, no nickel and dime nonsense.

5. A conclusion for the Player Character, don't leave it unfinished like Hawke after you cancelled "The Exaulted March".

1.My Warden(The handsome devil as my avatar pic)
2.Alistair is a king now, and my Cheese bro, MAKE HIS KING POWERS HAVE MORE POWER!!!!(or if you're one of the chaps that picked Queen Bit- I mean Anora then please, give SOMEONE a level of authority that I can abuse)
3.I find out what happened to My Warden, Morrigan and their Child. Last I saw he walked into a portal with Morrigan and left his dog, Biscuits, with the insecure mage and the nutty elf.
4.My Hawke to return with all companions from DA II, and for Maker's sake add something akin to the Paragon and Renegade interrupts from Mass Effect, if I enjoyed punching Admiral Han' Gerral in ME3 then I'll enjoy punching Justice out of Anders if he gets out of line and stops following my orders.
5.From what I can see they're definitely putting out the whole "Build an army to fight the big, evil, SO NOT ROBOT CTHULHU MACHINES, or dragons". So make all my choices count, I brought up 4 different armies in the first game, built up a certain level of trust with all of my companions in II(Except for Bethany unfortunately dying and Isabela running off when I asked her to return the Qunari's......artifact), won over quite a few people in both and grew attached to both of my now slightly overpowered characters. So the moral here is don't pull another Mass Effect 3.

Another small nit pick would be for them to make up their minds on how they're going to go about the combat.
In the first it was perfectly clear how to play it and the strategic/ slightly actiony prowess had something going for it, and it was clearer how to handle the situation in terms of how powerful enemies were and where to direct your attacks.
In the second, though the combat lifted Mages to a better spot and made the combat more dynamic overall, it just felt too much like "tap X tap X tap X tap X tap X, O, Square, Triangle, R2 O" on top of random enemies all of which I was unsure who to hit first since apparently I can bring down a pride Demon faster than I can a simple shade, without my companians acknowledging to use the Quick Heal just as much as me. So yeah, refine the combat from Dragon Age II along with a mix of Origins in it.

There, read that essay and then complain about the emphasis of just 5 things later.
I've got a few Darkspawn to cut up

The ability to play my character the way I've designed him, even if that's not the way BioWare expects him to be played.

That's all.  If I get that, DA3 is a triumphant return to greatness for BioWare.

This. 100%.
I don't appreciate the way Hawke and Shepard have their own predetermined personalities, whether they be good, evil or somewhere in between. I like to play a character I have designed. The fact that we have voiced PCs in modern games kind of makes this difficult, but it should still be possible. And similarly, I'd like to see dialogue options that actually mean what they say. You can't play your own unique character if they're always saying things differently to how you intended. I.e. in Bioware language, "I don't agree." translates to "YOU'RE WRONG I HATE YOU YOU'RE SUCH A JERK **** GET OUT OF MY SIGHT".
And of course, Bodahn and Sandal! I've been replaying DA2 and I just stumbled across some dialogue that seems all too much of a coincidence to be unrelated to DA3. Something along the lines of "My boy has been offered a place in Orlais working for the empress." Sounds like we can be expecting to see at least Sandal again. Bodahn mentioned he was getting old and had to start thinking about what would happen to Sandal when he wasn't around anymore, so perhaps Bioware will kill him off. :(

Then when you have found the shrubbery you must place it here beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so we get the two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

 1. Better combat. Felt like in da2 it was mostly about just pressing a button and sometimes another for skills. Perhaps some quicktime events? For all partymembers. But don't overdo it and only with the character your playing at the moment. Would get annoying otherwise. But definitly events with multiple enemies.
2. More gear. Some more basic looking gear aswell. Some of the gear (like some of the dlc-gear looked really weird, bad weird)
Now I know many people has complained that the armorlock for partymembers in da2 was bad, but for a guy who likes to "loose" himself in the story I kind of liked it. I can honestly say I only changed Morrigans robes once in dao, to the same but better ones. Compromise; Get rid of the lock but make their base gear improve with level up. That way you can keep them if you want. Do that with the dlc-gear aswell. I really hated that some of the gear became useless. (Like the fugetive mantle, which looked amazing... so I kept it anyway.)
3. No pre-set characterskin. Go back to dao! Even though you could change hawkes appearance, I didn't. Because I felt that's the skin it should be. Was the same with Mass Effect and I didn't hate it,  but disliked it.
4. Again go back to dao and don't make the character have the specializations at the begining. Make us work for it by buying books and learning it from our companions and make us do it every playthrough. (Hope I'm not the only one that wants that)
5. More choices and meaninful ones. (It has allready been confirmed but it's imporatant so...)

That's it. Not sure about the order of the list. I want it all. :P

1: Deep character customization both when it comes to skills and gear (For all your characters).
2: Engaging tactical combat (Hopefully hard combat that makes you think).
3: Lots of choice when it comes to dialog (No wheel please).
4: Gameplay streamlined for PC (I truly believe its the superior system for RPG's).
5: An epic atmosphere. (I know, this one is very hard. It is very subjective too).

In general I want full use of next gen technology, push it to the absolute limit bioware!

Now in no particular order, as I think they are all around about as important as each other.

1. Better character customization, not too fussed with character creation on the appearance side (but please keep it open ended like DA:O and less pre set like Mass Effect and DA2) because its okay at the moment in my opinion but the more options the better. I really want more in depth focus on skill and talent distribution for all classes and characters, don't just stick with the warrior needs: As much str/con as possible with a little wil, shake it up, make all the skills useful to some extent some way or another (mostly dependent on weapon preference and specialization, templars could make much more use of magic and wil)

2. Dialogue to have much more options, I was never a fan of 'wheel' based conversations, they bug me and are too vague. Keep it fully voiced if you must, I wouldn't mind, just go back to the old origins system.

3. Much improved combat, visually as well as mechanically, less over the top dashing and jumping like Dragon Age 2, more satisfying 'realistic' style combat, make attacks feel like they connect more

4. Wider range of gear and weapons to make for fun combinations, for example quick leather clad warriors or chain mail archer rogues I don't know, get creative! :)

5. Much more dynamic and consistent branching story line which will leave people coming back for more!
