A Mass Effect Style armor customization screen with color options would be pretty boss.

  • A world that feels alive with atmosphere. I want to see birds chirping in the
distance, trees flowing, ambient noises, flowing leafs, people moving
around in their daily lives, day/night cycles where the sun pierces rooftops in the morning, Templars assembling in the morning hours to do their daily routes. Easiest examples of what I'm talking about? Witcher 2 and Skyrim.
  • Better level design. It needs to be opened up more and Bioware seems to be
addressing this. Less "funnel down a tunnel" level design. I want to see
open landscapes and epic sprawling ruins. The DA world is so amazing,
why not express it more? I want to walk around a corner and just stop to look over the landscape and just go "wow, that's epic".
  • Customization, customization, and more customization! What better way to play a fantasy RPG than having loads of different ways to play? I want to dye that armor? You can do that. Want a robust crafting system? We have that too! The more options available to the player, the better.
  • More control over my personality and tone. If I want to speak in a sad or angry tone, I should have more choice. Certain situations should require more emotional tones. Companion dies? Bring the sad and angry emotional tones up. You shouldn't have a basic sarcastic, aggressive, or polite tone in every situation. It's awkward.
  • Morality and more interactions from companions. I want companions to jump into conversations more. I want them to show their personality more. When I make a decision, I want them to tell me how they feel about it. Surely they can't agree with everything I do? Maybe take it a step further with an approval bar. At certain points in the game, they reach a "breaking point". If they like you enough, you can confront them and talk them down. If they don't like you, perhaps it will lead to an inevitable conclusion of you locking swords with them. All companions have unique personalities. They should express them more instead of standing around like zombies in a conversation. If I randomly decide to cut some poor elf's throat, is Aveline going to approve of this? No. And she should express her feelings and immediately confront me about it. How it ends, depends on the player and how he handles the situation...

First of all thank you to everyone for adding to this thread, secondly thank you to Bioware for contributing.

If we can lets keep this to 5 constructive points per post (on the 5 pts) and lets get a constructive discussion going here

 1. Tattoo's that aren't exclusive to the face would be GREAT (if you join an organization you could and that tattoo as an option: such as inquisition, crows, grey wardens, templars etc)

2.

I want there to be a feast where its all different colored food of red, blues and greens and someone comments that they all taste the same. Can have it as some magic used by a mage or something :P

Oh and MORRIGANS DAMN QUEST LINE FINISHED.

Multiple endings BASED ON CHOICES.  Not done the same way as ME3 since that blew chunks.

Suicide mission like ME2 based on previous choices.

Lois McMaster Bujold once said about her writing "first I try to create a character that is interesting to the reader, then I ask 'what is the worst thing I can do to them?'. I really liked Hellboy because I was ready to cheer when Rasputin came to a sticky end. On the other hand I never got interested in anybody in Hellboy 2. More than anything else it's the story and connecting with the characters that will keep me interested. The other thing in a game is the environment. DA:O was huge and fun to explore. DA:2 was at times repetitive and seemed smaller.

1. Customization. Customization. Customization. Make the experience feel as much our own personal one as you can. Do this for story, for combat, for appearance, for the ending, for our camp/house/whatever, for whatever you can. Make as many little noticeable things that will make our experience as much ours as you can. If we choose the pieces to our puzzle, it will feel like its our own creation.

2. Variation. This sort of applies to customization, but expands to more than just it. The more varied things are, the more expansive our customization and overall world feels. Stuff like the repeated dungeons in DA2 hurt this a ton. One important thing for variation is combat variation in tactics, which includes stuff like stealth.

3. Origins. People loved this. I loved this. Everyone loved this. If you really do want to win people back onto the Bioware and Dragon Age brand, spending the extra bucks to ensure that such an innovative and well received feature comes back would be a great move.

4. I agree on the hats. Make a toggle if the artists can't be bothers to make appealing hat designs at the very least.

5. Sound design. Make the world feel like it lives. Even if its small and subtle, background noises can do wonders to making it feel like the world is not devoid of life.

Some other, less crucial things to note...

Black Emporium = Great idea and great idea to make a place that shows up in every Dragon Age game.

Expansion of romance possibilities like in Mass Effect 3 where it went past your party to many other would be good. Just make sure all the personalities are very varied so people have someone they like to romance.

The Arcane Warrior and Dual Wielding should return to at least DA:O's style.

If you do multiplayer, maybe you could do something in the vain of Demons' Souls?

1. Toolset. See Neverwinter Nights
2. Multiplayer for Custom modules only (fan made modules, see Neverwinter Nights)
3. Persistent World Support, at least in a minimal sence.
4. More different classes than just warrior/thief/mage, make it more complex with base classes made out of the Bard, Ranger and different types of mages
5. class editor (see Toolset) to any type of class can be made by a Modder
6. Console has focus on story/companions/dlc, PC has focus on Toolset, Steam Workshop and Custom modules (see Skyrim, Steam workshop for Skyrim and above all, nwn toolset, again.)

but above all.. Toolset, and a Modulair design.

I agree, duel weilding would be great. Maybe this would be a way to amp up the warrior class! (cuz I think that upping the warrior class woul be much better than dumbing down rouge and mage to make it look better. But not that I assume you guys are thinking that.)

1) Patch 1.06 for DAorigin now!
2) Combine classes, eg Berserker + Reaver = Overlord, or whatever you call and more classes
3) that the events can be changed if you've done something important before, not as what happens Hawke's mother
4) If you give voice to the protagonist that you can choose your personality at the beginning of the game and after a major event, because Refuse a mission has to be aggressive? Refuse a mission can diplomatically or sarcastically
5) Being able to play as the Warden

Sorry, the google translator'm not very good speaking English and no Spanish forum

regards

Saludos

1. No fetch quests please! I'm talking about those where you find something on the floor and miraculously knows where to deliver it.
2. More companion side quests! As you get to know them, they'll give you different side quests you can complete that will develop that character's personality.
3. If a new combat system is coming, make it similar to DA:O.
4. Let me choose my companions' armor.
5. Pets!

And Cullen! He's HAWT! hehehehe :D

1. Female Dwarves. Preferably including a Sigrun cameo.
2. Moar Varric.
(These two also include my standing request for a Dwarf romance, but yeah at the very least don't cut out a whole gender this time.)

3. Reduce the restriction on armour and weapons, I would love to have my dual axe wielding rogue back for example. Playing GW2 is a good example of how effective this can be.

4. Different racial options for the player character. I never found the voice thing a problem with SWTOR, and I just can't see the benefits of being Human only outweighing having the variety of different races to choose from. I think the latter aspect is subjective though, as being able to focus on one race definitely has it's advantages.

5. Have your specialisation mean something. My character wants to train as an Assassin? Why must that be a detached stat allocation when it could involve a small or substantial quest chain. Having it affect dialogue, dialogue options, and non combat skills, as well as having repercussions in general, would be extremely welcome.

Personally I would even be happy for character's to only be able to specialise once (but have several options still) if this were the case.

1) The ability to MOD the PC game. I loved the DA toolkit in dragon age 1. i was not happy with the lack of modding support for DA2.

2) More races. humans are fine and all, but give me dwarves and elves back. or even Qunari.

3) A good length. DAO style. i love the fact that the story lasted over 60 hours.

4) I know you guys mentioned it but please dont reuse maps for fights and be lazy. and keep the waves out of the fight. After beating a easy group of bandits in the city, i dont want to get another wave of easy bandits in the city. give me a better thinking mob , notice that is singular, that will give me a challenge.

5 ) I want my choices to matter. I dont have to bring up the past 2 bioware games for you to understand the reason why i say this. hint hint.

1. Races (Yes I mean different species, no potato sacks or tying my legs to a companions legs... although that too holds appeal.)

2. Awesome kick ass elf Companions! Preferably Bi, preferably male! (or you know, Fenris or Zevran... though then I'll need my Warden or Hawke back... complications!)

3. Gideon Emrys voice, I mean, I just need it now... sorry, you really only have yourselves to blame.

4. More importance with our protagonist, like in Origins. I kinda felt like telling Kirkwall to clean up their own damn night time streets.

5. More Romance-y bits, Cause I am self admittedly lame, I need my squee moments.

1: Playable origin stories.

2: Playable races.

3: Voiced PC.

4: Better combat system. I didn't really like combat in either DA game. DA:O's felt too slow and like I didn't really have any imput on what was going on. Too much relying on stats and dice rolls. DA2's was better, it played a bit like an MMO, but the cooldowns on attack were too long and they used up too much stamina/mana, which meant a lot of standing around auto attacking or mindlessly clicking to make my character attack. Also, like DA:O and MMOs in general, it felt a bit too reliant on stats and dice rolls. I don't expect a complete revamp where they make the game play like Skyrim of Fable or something, but I'd at least like a few different options for how to play the game. Maybe a tactical option for those who want the game to play like DA:O and then an action option where the game can play something like Guild Wars 2 and the encounters and enemy difficulty change based on what mode you've got the game set to.

5: Better and more interesting classes with more abilities for advanced classes. classes have felt poorly handled to me in both DA games. In DA:O, a lot of advance classes were really boring because they only gave you 4 new abilites. There was also a huge lack of selection. Mages had it worst. If you just wanted to play a standard mage who filled a dps role you had no options. Spirit healer was a healer spec, Arcane warrior turned you into a melee class and made you a tank, shapeshifter turned you into a melee dps and made you into an animal (which is something not everyone enjoys playing as)  and blood mage changed how the class was played too much by making your spells cost health. There was no option just to give you a more powerful fireball or something. In DA2, it didn't even feel like advanced classes existed, and that was a bit boring too. In both games, some playstyles didn't feel like they were supported at all, like archers. This is not to mention the story surrounding classes. Running around as a blood mage and having no one call you out on it just did not make sense.

I'm hoping in DA3 classes and advanced classes will make more sense from a story perspective and that there will be more options and playstyles supported. I want an archer class or advanced class that gives me a bunch of cool different arrows to fire (and not traps or pets, I don't want to play a hunter, I want to play an archer). I want a mage advance class that gives me huge fireballs to throw and lets me call on amazing arcane power to directly damage my enemies.

And while still on classes, I don't want companions to be restricted to certain advanced classes. I hated that you were forced to take some companions over others because you needed a tank or healer and the companion you wanted to bring either couldn't fulfil that role either because they were the wrong class or because they didn't have access to a certain talent tree (like Merrill not being able to heal). All companions should have a tank, heal and dps advanced class or talent tree and it's up to you to decide what role they fill and build your party how you want instead of being forced to go with certain companions.
