1) rivalry and friendship. Very much enjoyed this system with having two ways to move forward with my companions. Great for replays
2) different tone of voice. This was also something that I played around with quite a lot. Please keep it
3) less reuse of areas. But it sounds like you have already thought of it, so I am not worried
4) Let there be some way to access material, something that affects the story, which cannot be seen on a single playthrough. A different origin get's specific material, siding with a different party perhaps. This makes replays more enjoyable. Origins has the plus that I then hope to see little differences throughout the game
5) If you do friendship-rivalry please include more gifts to affect your companions appreciation in the direction that you want it to go. A bit more than what was seen in DAIII at least. This would have made playing my Hawkes a little bit easier, less scouting the internet looking for the quests in which that specific companion had the correct opinion. Not making the choices made in the game irrelevant, but a little bit more like SWTOR, that you can help it along.

1.) A game that looks and plays exactly like a prettier version of Dragon Age: Origins. I disliked every single change in design that was added in DA2 and would love to see a return to form. It looks like that's not going to happen so bellow are some more specific requests/constructive criticism along those lines:

2 .)I want combat animations that look like realistic medieval combat instead of over-the-top anime fights. Please get rid of the dance-fighting-hurlocks and faceless mooks, the flipping rogues, the massive impractical swords that get swung like wiffle bats, the mooks exploding in a shower of blood when they get stabbed by a knife, just all of it. Underneath the stupid animations and waves and waves of mooks DA2 may have even had an okay combat system and skill trees, but I couldn't see it for all the bright flying blood and anime characters flipping around.

3 .) I want a dialogue tree instead of the Mass Effect dialog wheel. Sadly this isn't going to happen but could you folks at least give us more diverse or nuanced dialogue options than saying the same thing in a paragon, smug or renegade tone. In Origins there were places where your character could act stoic, naive, righteous, racist (when you're an elf especially,) or you could even play as a sniveling coward. I missed that in DA2, where you just create a character by selecting one of three personality types and making a decision every couple of hours.

4.) A large, ALL NEW cast of characters. A lot of people really want their pet characters from the first two games to return but I think the game would be better served by avoiding that. Bringing old characters back and finding a convoluted excuse for them to be in another country for a brief and shallow cameo adds nothing to the game and makes it feel like a soap opera instead of an epic heroic fantasy story. Epic fantasies have large casts and sprawling settings. And of course I'd rather see the old fan favorite characters retire in peace then get the sort of treatment Anders got: completely switching personalities between games to fit the plot.

5.) Whenever you fight enemies there should be a plot relevant reason for it. That was easy for Dragon Age: Origins where you're fighting a chaotic evil hoard of rampaging not-orcs and not-goblins for most of the game. Then the game was spiced up by the occasional human troops sent to assassinate you for plot-relevant reasons or demon encounter. That all fell apart in DA2. Walking down the street at night and being attacked by armies of parachuting ninjas who explode after a few jabs from your daggers was the silliest thing. Ditto for most of the quests in DA2 where you would go through some caves looking for a dwarf or a plot item or something and would be attacked by hoard of faceless mercenaries who happen to live in that cave and attack you on site.

I swear, there were so many times in DA2 where I was fighting my way through that-one-cave for the fifteenth time and thought to myself: "Why am I even fighting these guys? Why are they attacking me? Why does every petty criminal outfit in Kirkwall have an army of ten-thousand disposable ninjas? What's even going on?"

The gist of what I'm saying is: Please, please please put more thought into encounter design for this game. Make it fun from a gameplay perspective and logical from a story perspective.

1. Panache
2. Panache
3. Pluck
4. Swashbuckling
5. Panache

What every video game has lacked is the sort of panache exemplified by Cyrano de Bergerac in the Rostand play of the same name. Give us a hero that will retrieve a scarf for another person's love. Give a fencer who can recite a ballade extempore whilst fighting. Give us Errol Flynn and Tyrone Powers and Maureen O'Hara all rolled up into one magnificent package. And then squeeze the Scarlet Pimpernel in there for good measure.

A huge helping of derring-do would not go astray.

Make Captain Mal exclaim "There go big damn heroes!" in a voice of awe and respect.

1. Party Banter
2. Sexy female elf (cross on Merril and Isabelle) with romance
3. Elvish uprising (City Elves and Dalish elves revolt over treatment)
4.Better looking elves. The big eyes slender design from DA2 I liked but less beaten with a shovel look.
5. Less cringe worth Voice Acting for the elves. If the plan was to insult the welsh and Irish with that voice work you succeed. Use proper welsh and Irish next time. Merril was the exception.

PS I like Elves.

1. A political story without necessarily a BIG BAD. Complex grey humans like Loghain etc are infinitely more interesting than an evil abomination from the Fade.
2. Branching narrative. (Read Below)
3. Choices and consequences is the CREAM of RPGs. Making our decisions matter beyond what we were given in Mass Effect 3 where everything was just designated into some lame number asset. Let us see the consequences.of our actions in both gameplay and cutscenes. Do this and I'm in.
4. Tactical camera - Either this or find a better alternative
5. Party Banter - This is not as high due to the fact that I saw the result of TOO much banter in ME3. The game it had more dialogue than in ME1 and ME2 and yet it still felt lacking. Why? Mainly because the ME3 team forgot that this was the cream of the cake rather than the cake itself. Therefore while I would love more party banter, BALANCE it with a strong plot.

While I mentioned my top already, I was reading and thought of one more thing I really really hope they do. Close up fighting Mages. In DA:O and Awakening, my Mage wore heavy armor and fought with Spellweaver and had a staff as her alternate weapon. She kicked butt. One of my biggest disappointment in DA:2 was seeing the trailer and seeing a Male Hawke fight up close with a staff with a sword on it and using it like a sword too, then I play and other then clubbing someone with it, there is no actual sword fighting for a Mage at all. To insult more, the Mage clothing sucks a**. Thankfully, if you due DLC, weapon armor packs and recently now updated armor, you can still have a decent looking warrior Mage, but it is a far cry from before. I hate playing a Mage in DA:2 due to its lack of feeling like a warrior and more like some party member who is thrown to the side and is suppose to look good or something. I want an in your face, slice your gut open Mage like I had before. Heck even when I played a rogue, I made Morrigan an Arcane Warrior and gave her Spellweaver and she whooped butt too. While the flow from sword to magic was a bit choppy in DA:O and in Awakening, its better then the joke you are in DA:2. We have already seen in games like KoA that the use of waepon to magic fighting more smoothly is possible and heck even in the ME games, you can have a weapon in hand and still use biotics ( which I love, space age magic, kudo's bioware ). I want to see something like that for the Mages in DA:3.

And while I am on a role, get rid of the horribly stupid Rogue jumping BS. I LOVE my warrior styled rogues in DA:O and Awakening. Its all I ever play now. I open my own chest and spec them to become lock picking warriors. But in DA:2 its sickening. IF I play a rogue, I am a bowman, which I hate, only because the stupid jumping bs drives me insane. The only rogues I use are Varric and Sebastien, only because they stay on the dang ground and fight right. I miss my dual sword wielding Rogue, please please bring them back!! Make rogues true warriors again, not some circus performing freak show.

Since I heard something along the lines of revamping friendship/ rivalry:

The problem with the DA2 system was confusion about rivalry, thinking rivalry was bad (like being in the negative in Origins, the red color and the symbol didn't help) when it actually was supposed to represent philosophical disagreements, so you could act consistently how you wanted to (like consistently support one side of a conflict) without switching out party members, or spamming them with gifts and being nice to make up for a disagreeable decision.

But being mean earned rivalry points as well....so, confusion ensues, especially when you can be verbally abusive to an LI and still romance them.

Someone had a great idea, and it should be implemented (and someone said devs read this thread for ideas).

http://social.biowar...5644/4#14655988

********

Two Meter System:

Instead of a one-way bar like in DA:O, or the polarized bar like in DA2, I suggest we simply have two bars. Each would be on a scale of 0-100, and would start at around 30.

Bar One: Affection
Affection measures how much the companion likes you. Not whether or not they agree with your goals and philosophies, but how much they enjoy your company and care about you.

Bar Two: Respect (or Allegiance/Loyalty/that concept)
Respect measures how much the companion agrees with your viewpoints, goals, and leadership. This does not necessarily mean they care about you, just that their goals align with yours.

********

Example in Action:
A mage is starving and penniless in the streets, hiding from the Templar. Anders is in your party. Your choices are, and their affect on Anders's approval:
1. "Here, my friend. Take this money, and use it to get yourself to safety." (+Affection, + Respect)
2. "Alright you blasted beggar, take some money. But you are a sorry excuse for a mage, you bumbling fool." (-Affection, +Respect)
3. "I am so sorry. I sympathize with your plight, but I simply can't help you now." (+Affection, -Respect)
4. "Filthy mage! I'm turning you in to the Templar!" (-Affection, -Respect)

********

You can end up in one of four unique positions:

High Affection, High Respect: You both align in both personal and professional matters. Inseperable, best buds, always in agreement. Loving romance possible, likely to last a lifetime.

High Affection, Low Respect: You care about one another, and have fun together, but disagree on fundamental principals. "That guy's great, but man, don't get him started on politics. He turns into a jerk." Romance possible, in a rival-mance style. Likely to end badly as the important philosophical differences divide you.

Low Affection, High Respect: Like a tough sergeant. The companion respects your leadership, and would follow you into battle, but would love to just lay a punch across your smug face. No Romance.

Low Affection, Low Respect: Agree on nothing. Hate each other. Likely they will leave the party or just outright attack you.

I like to see DA3 return to its DAO roots, no, I don't mean the gameplay, the achievement tiles!!!

DA2 achievement tiles looks horrible, I want to see the original art style back. ME series get to keep its the same throughout, why change DA series?

What are the top 5 things you are hoping to see in DA3

For me it has to be:

1. Returning characters, particularly Morrigan and Isabela

2. Improved combat tactics mechanics - Its very frustrating when tactics end up broken, I love the tactical element so I'd like to see them get this right first time

3. A Multi-player mode that does not affect the single player campagin

4. Choices that matter - Lets see consequences to choices from both DA3 and even DAO and DA2

5. In depth characters - Bioware always do a great job with characters, but I'd really like to see more interaction with companions, not just a "Isabela wants to speak to you type thing"

Thoughts ?

1. I would so love for Tactics to work correctly so I can play without pausing, the main problems I always have is in DA2 my party members won't attack elite opponents like I want them to.
Example: Hawke uses mark of death on low level opponents instead of elite mages or varric uses bursting arrow on a far away target but Hawke is standing in line of fire so he gets hit with it, I wish he would just move to another location and use it....maybe we need an in depth tutorial on the tactics if we aren't using them correctly?

2. Adjustable isometric camera view from DA:O please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. I would like a mode beyond nightmare or a toggle in options, with instead of pausing when you press space bar you get 1/2 speed combat or 1/3 so when you pause you still have to strategize quickly, this would make the combat flow much faster and make you literally **** bricks on nightmare.

4. No more reused areas for quests and combat locations.

5. I would love more strategic locations for combat, multiple choke points, houses and cliffs that enemies can rappel from or crawl up from....and more heighth in combat locations like how you did in Mass Effect 3, I loved the improved level design.

6. USE FROSTBITE ENGINE TO FULL EXTENT. I've played BF3 so I keep thinking about how you guys are gonna use the engine. I was imagining spells breaking down walls and chipping stone in the environment....I would also love to see flame spells burn paper or cloth in the environment, or Ice spells freeze things in the environment and then when they hit the ground they shatter!

7. Make 2 handed weapons plausible and more aesthetic (smaller)....they way the are now I don't like to use them, I feel like I'm using an ogre's weapon.

8. Slower but more powerful weapon speed for 2H weapons. Weapon speed was pretty crazy in DA2, I really enjoyed it for rogues and sword and shield, but not for 2H, it did seem very anime and it wasn't pleasing to the eyes. I would like it to be fast and efficient just not that fast but BALANCED to other weapons.

9. 2-4 player campaign coop....but if it can't be done right, don't do it...you can't risk any of the story!!!!!!!

That's all I got i just want a lot of customization for party members and even better ablitlies than DA2...I loved the ablities in DA2....love love loved them.

I loved both DA Origins/Awakenings and DA2. Of course, DA:O/A I preferred because of the option of races and I felt I had a bigger impact on my decisions made.

I really think that the DA Team noticed what worked for DA2 and what didn't. They changed things up a bit and only DA3 will show how they've learned from the response of the fans/customers.

I guess the top 5 things I'd like to see for DA3 is:

1. Customize options. I like being able to create a character that is unique and suits my taste. Also nice to use specific gears on your followers. From what I've read it seems they're going in that direction.

2. Storyline. Nothing hits home like a great story to follow. Of course you want it to change to your choices, but still, you want the overall story to feel like a great experience that you remember.

3.New/old followers. I definately prefer new followers if I have to start with a new char. I wouldn't mind some of the old crew, but I can appreciate cameos. I still don't know what timeline we're dealing with though.

4. Grey Wardens. I would love to be a Grey Warden again. It would be even cooler if I had the option to be or not to be. Many don't agree with me, but I love the Grey Warden role and it's the core of DA for me. If not, I'd like to see them play a bigger role in DA3, perhaps being an ex-Warden? hehe.

5. Choices that "really" matter. I'd like to see being able to go a good or bad route. I prefer good, but it's nice to have that option. I'd like to see consequences of choices made. It really makes the game personal when you feel like you're in control of it all.

I have faith in the DA Team. I'm sure DA3 will be sweet. I can't wait!

1.Emphasis on player class where your class can influence story, Companion attitude towards you and so on.
2.Harem option in romance, and even more romance(wanna romance Cassandra =))
3.I liked the upgrades for Companion armor, find thing or buy, and they got upgrate, prety easy, not need think about what keep for yourself, or fo companion, only think about youself.
4.In DA 2 not much liked home base only because you can't here look on status of Companions like in DAO in camp (aprroval, rival, friendship, armor, weapons and so) and be very interestin upgrade home base like in awakening or something like ugrade of Normandy from ME2 on account of Companions.
5.Well of course like many wanna get control of my warden from DAO and hawke from DA2 even for a while.
And wanna more situation where availability of some object or
amount of objects can give your more choices in quests ( like in mark of assassin with dogs, with
Baiting a Wyvern 2 or 5 bait to use or with avelin if you sell or have in inventary  Ser Wesley's Shield ) .
6.Always wanted change face of hawke which stayed default(where blood on his nose) get him tattoo or change color of hair but it can't be done if you not going create new face:?
7.Blood magic  in dialoge like convince with blood magic some orlesian to jump froom roof (example DA2-
 Enemies Among Us - Idunna).:wizard:
8. More deals with demon's. Demon companion( maybe someone(woman:P) possessed Desire)

And thanks for yours works and hello from Russia, keep working and give us even more interesting storys. My english not really good :(

*best story (the story no like DA2), the story must be going on DA ORIGINS
*Morrigan and his baby. I have finished DAO 6 times for Morrigan. Morrigan should playable character but for this we lets go different tasks and this task must not be easy. For ex. make two tasks and Morrigan your companions this must not be. We must be strive for morrigan make companions.
*more different class (elf, dwarf, human not enough)
*bigger than map
*Travel from countyr to country (like from orlais to ferelden, ferelden to antiva)
*politicy,intrigue,game of thrones
*sexual content more Witcher 2 but must not be bisexual content specially men to men.

1. All equipment should be stat-limited, not class or character limited.

2. The combat mechanics should be symmetrical. The same rules should govern all creatures, PCs and NPCs and monsters alike.

3. The player shouldn't ever have his ideas about why his character is doing something contradicted by the game. You can test this in QA by imagining a variety of possible reasons any given dialogue option would have been selected, and then check the resulting PC behaviour against all of those reasons simultaneously to see if any of them are broken.

4. The PC should be free to travel to any location at any time, except where credible in-world obstacles exist. For example, it did make sense that the PC couldn't leave Neverwinter in NWN, because the gates were all locked due to the quarantine. It did not make sense that the PC couldn't visit Cloakwood prior to defeating Tazok's bandits. Visitable areas should not spring into existence upon the PC receiving a quest instruction to go there.

5. No abilities should be unavailable simply because the PC isn't engaged in combat. Fireballs should always be available. Stealth should always be available.

6. Movable tactical camera.

7. All enemies should exist in the world prior to the beginning of combat. If there's an ambush out there waiting for me, it should be theoretically possible to find every enemy in advance. They need to be somewhere. Nothing should ever discernably "spawn" - they should all have been there the whole time.

8. The PC should be allowed to initiate combat of his own volition. If he knows he needs to go kill some bandits, and he finds those bandits, he should be allowed to attack those bandits without having to talk to them first. This would actually offer some interesting quest options. If we're told to go kill some bandits, we can do that. but if we talk to them first, perhaps they'll make a counter-offer. Don't make us hear the counter-offer before killing them. Don't make us talk to them at all. Let us ambush our enemies.

hm...

sorry, but you like your character tainted by darkspawn-blood, forced to endure an induction that is painfull and often deadly, having bad nightmares for the rest of his/her existence and having a shortened lifespan?

sorry, but NO...i do not want to be a warden under these conditions (i - almost - hate Duncan for having conscripted me and my various wardens when i refused to comply with his request)...IMHO the grey should be an organisation of - untainted people - that keep the lore of the first grey wardens alive and recruit people to fight darkspawn, but only when a  blight is comming, a selected few wardens (and all prisoners in the prisons (those locked up for hard crimes like say murder, rape etc.) of the country the blight is in) should be tainted, in order to kill the archdemon!

this would be more logical, then destroying hundreds of lives in a time when there is no blight (then they grey would not need to recruit all the time either, because they would live longer!)

greetings LAX
