6. Significant difference in starting stats, such that it impacts your playstyle. I loved making new characters in NWN and KOTOR.

My top 5 from most important to least:
1. Effects of previous decisions carrying over. And I mean as many as possible! This also includes what happened to our main protagonists too; the warden and Hawke. I can't take another cliffhanger.

2.  More companion/player interaction. Made me feel so much more for the
companions. DAII seemed to lack conversation initiated by the player
whenever we wanted. It could only be done by visiting them wherever they were stationed.

3. Romance scenes. Not expecting something pornographic, just hoping for
more than something like arm rubbing or a hug since we put so much
effort into the romance. Origins were good; DAII seemed to skip over them
and show the aftermath. We're all adults, we can handle it.

4. Party member armor customization. Do I really need to say anything about this?

5. Character cameos. It'd be nice to see everyone we came across and how they're doing since so much time has passed.

I have high hopes for Inquisition. Please Bioware, don't let us down.

1. Hawke and Warden as team mates.
2. Free-roaming world map.
3. A "Mass Effect genesis" character creation system that lets you outline the choices of Hawke/Warden if you didn't play DA:O/ DA2.
4. Better archery.
5. Lots of cool outfits.
6(secret). Shepard cameo.

Make a fight a worthy struggle of might (or magic). What do I mean? My Rogue shouldn't look like a cheesy circus acrobat who can blow up someone in a few hits. I almost always play a dual weapon rogue in DA:O. I always get them up to two long swords (or axes a few times) and while it is suppose to be an elite fighting style, it still takes a bunch of hitting and slashing to kill and my feet do not leave the ground while doing it. The only blow that should kill someone asap is a head being cut off the body, like in DA:O ( ah I love when my rogue stabs through the chest, pulls them close and cuts off their head with other sword!) If people do "like" the more flashy, well in DA:O there is that dancing movement of spinning around and again beheading. Point is, it is realistic. I hate the anime style unrealistic fighting and huge weapons no one could ever lift and God knows could never have the energy to fight with while blowing a person to pieces with one blow! DA:O made me want to be a Warden. Made me feel like I was hefting armor and fighting for all life. DA2 was so anime in fighting, sometimes I had a hard time not laughing (WOW Carver, you just blew up a circle of darkspawn with one blow! That should be enough to make you not a jerk for 5 mins to Hawke!). I DID love DA2, I always will. It was the first real video game I ever played on the xbox and it made me want to play more. While somethings make me groan (see rogue comments above and two handed idiocy ) I love the game on a whole. I love Hawke and companions (although Sebastian and his preaching is just to much! By the end of the game when he asks Hawke about how you would feel if he had been in the chantry when it blew up, I wanted the responses of," I wish...Marker shut up for once" but the chantry irks me anyway). But as much as I loved it, once I played it a couple of times, I decided to go and try DA:O and Awakening and felt drawn in deep. Like I said, they made me want to be the warden and brutally kill Darkspawn. While loving DA2, I never felt like I was Hawke. So I hope they make the new character(s) you will play have that lure like the others. Even in ME, I always felt like I was Shep, not viewing it like it was a movie with somewhat my choices like in DA 2. I want to be drawn in again and feel the new character and feel like I am being swarmed by imposable odds and must find my own inner strength to win, like in DA:O. If you ever played on Nightmare, the battle against the Archdemon when its just you against a huge friggin horde, you know what I mean. It felt impossible and hard won at the end. It felt like you were going to fall down from exhaustion, not I'll just sneer and say F you and skip away. Bring back the hard and draining fighting for the 1st one please!!

Consequences that impact story progression. A concrete example of this would be different choices in the game would lead you down a path to different end bosses.
There are never enough vanilla character creation options, so allowing the game to be moddable is important, it's one of the reasons I prefer PC as my gaming platform.

1) Maintain the style of combat in DA2, but add in some more cross-class combos. It seems like, as a two-handed warrior, I had no way of teaming up with Archer Rogues very effectively.
2) Include more variety in the type of enemies faced. I've fought enough shades to last a lifetime. I'd like to see werewolves and sylvans again.
3) Maintain the friendship/rivalry system from DA2. It had its issues, but it generally worked better than straight "Approval" and "Disapproval."
4) Shut off sustained abilities during dialogue and exploration. That was a great change in DA2 and I hope it doesn't go away in DA3.
5) Bring back ghasts! I would like to see a summonable ghast companion similar to the mabari in DA2, just for a change of pace.

I would also like to see replacements for mabari opponents in DA3, as the wimpering of dogs as I chop them to bits hurts my soul.

1. Better, more and more complex dialogue (no wheel and three choices, voiced pc is fine if it doesnt limit dialogue)

2. More choices and choices that have consequence

3. More interaction with companions and npcs and more interesting companions and npcs in general (the arishok, loved the arishok, was the only character i thought really well written in DA2)

4. Keep the idea of making a fresh of plot from DA2, loved the politics and rise to power (biowares plots had gotten pretty stale with the same formula used since kotor) but present it better. As in not fragmented and immersion breaking.

5. Make the world more living and immersive

If i was allowed to go beyond five the next ones would be better combat and more customization regarding the pc and companions

I agree, too - only in DA3, the hair should be animated with physics, instead of being stuck to the skin. ;)

Hmm how about a lower fight systhem . I'm useed to play DA:O again and to be true a mix of DA:O an DA2 wold be perfekt.
I'd playd DA:O about 7 times and DA2 bout 6 times.... but only because in need only 2 days to play the silly storyline of DA2 ... The Story : blablabla killin 50000 bastards ( at the same time ) blablabla killin that guy , ou you mother dies ... nice ... blabla somebody that I used to know ( Anders ) blow the church up ... bla Magic Apocalypse .. END.
MAYBE that would have been better if it doasnt had playd in a small city where ya feel like forever alone . However bigger Maps , Morrigan , My warden Child and so on . I bet BioWare ,or should I say EA  , know what we want... but hell on witch thread did the read always MORE action . Please NO !
I would feel kinda weird if the guys in DA would start an atomar war O_o

Keep what works in DA 2 and DA: Origins. Don't fix what ain't broken.

Meaning, I want the big zones and hubs we had in Origins, the combat system from DA 2 (though no enemies popping out of nowhere) a dog, good lore background and at least two companions that can heal/lockpick.

Some nice stuff like chest hairs, welding, infusing and so on would be nice too.

Warden. Otherwise it feels like da:o is so dissconnected from the other games. I mean da2 sets the Templar-Mage war stage for DA:I. DA:O has no such obvious connection to DA:I The warden, if alive, could be a companion. That would be super-mega-ultra-hyper(more adjectives) awesome. I dead...? i dunno, maybe his spirit merged with that of the archdemon, giving a somewhat twisted warden power over the darkspawn (arch-warden?)

Army. I loved the build up your forces part of ME3. But if implemented, make it more than just a calculated figure in the end of the game. Make it a living being. Make it a resource. For example i could spend some manpower on a certain missions, such as quelling a riot or escorting me on dangerous journeys or besiegeing a rival or hunting darkspawn or whatever you have in mind for the plot. Maybe the missions would go well and they would walk out alive, maybe even with some new supporters. Or i would go horribly wrong and they'd all be dead. Always a risk, always a price, always a reward. Something like that.

Broader choice of companions. In all three major DA titles so far, there have been companions. But give me a broader choice. Make it a choice and not just ''sure buddy, come aboard'' like it tends to be  Spread them out over the course of the game. Maybe even throw in a few exclusive companions (like morinth in the mass effect universe: you had to give up a companion to get one, or loghain in DA:O). And if you decide to use any kind of army or garrison or whatever, make the companions matter. If i have an experienced fighter as a companion, the troops could receive training from him.

More classes. Come on. Or subclasses. Rogue, warrior, mage. Theres got to be more out there

Me being me. You did it in the second game. Lets do it again. More.
If i am, say killing a lord or a psychopath or a pineapple or whatever, whos hiding in a castle. So how do i do it? Well an assassin would sneak in, and poison his food. An archer would climb to a high tower and snipe him, before making a dashing escape. A warrior could challenge him to a duel. A berserker would launch himself over the wall with a catapult and hope for the best. A Battlemage could just blast the gate open and set the entire place on fire (damn i love mages). He/She could use sneakier magics to posess a dog and kill him with it in his sleep. Or use ghosts. or whatever. Make the class/subclass matter outside of combat. A skilled creationist could be known as a healer and use this to make friends or he/she could master magic smithing and create weapons magic weapons of epic proportions for his fellow warriors. Remember the renegade/paragon moves in ME? maybe create ''class/subclass move''. ''I will kill you then i wil kill your fa- *rogue move* (throws dagger)

am i the only one who was annoyed by the fact that my no-one oaf decided who became dwarven king and who became king of ferelden and whether the circle of ferelden was saved or destroyed?
i want to experience the mage/templar war in the next game
the pc should be an enchanter or a templar/knight-templar without much influence
i want to experience distress because of the choices made and disagree with them
i want mages to go rogue and run berserk and templars to kill innocents and so on
i want to play both of them in one playthrough... experience the good and bad
and supporting either side to be difficult
and i'd love to be forced to kill (as a mage) a character i (as a templar) grew close to

just being...creative

1. A main character that actually impacts the world around them.
2. No moral choice system, I hate having to play 100% good or evil or else be punished.
3. Mages that aren’t shoehorned into ugly robes, wearing trousers isn’t a crime.
4. Tying up some plots from the last two games (god baby and Kirkwall leadership).
5. An ending that not only makes senses but comes to a resolution.

Multi-player where players can interact and the dragon age community can come up and play a different game aside from the main story, where there wont be a limit to area or quests.more like a MMO so that wee don't have to give up on dragon age, like we had to in me 3 .. which was like a waste of everything .

If you do this, please do NOT make it a MUST (as in: let me DECLINE without the LI breaking up with me or being down because of my PC saying: "no way!")

because i myself dislike marriage (i have three shattered marriages in my family alone (close family!) - the one of my dad with my mother (because she cheated on him!), the one of my stepmother with her first husband (not my dad, they married each other as second marriage) and the one of my - birth - mother with the guy she cheated my dad with) and i dislike what it stands for (an ideal most marriages never embody anyway!) and thirdly i think marriage is bad for guys (in RL) because women almost always get the children, get payments from the guy (marriage contracts do not help as they are often declared null and void, even if they were drawn up by professional lawyers and barristers) etc.

sorry, but marriage is an - IMHO - antiquated institution, it is in no way romantic (for me) and it is there to "imprison" people with an IMHO stupid and unnecessary piece of paper!

greetings LAX
ps: note: i might see marriage overly negative, because my parents (birth-mom and my father) got a divorce when i was very young...i was about 1,5 years old (i sometimes ask myself if i am part of the reason, because i was an unplanned child that slipped by contraceptive devices) and they often argued (they tried to hide it though, by sending me out of the room when my mom was fetching me or bringing me back, as i was a lucky exception in that my dad got the child...but only because my mother was still in vocational training back then and she signed a piece of paper that she could not afford a child back then), then they tried to convince me the other was bad or had a hidden agenda etc. (also my dad was right, concerning my mom in the end, still, it hurt that they tried to use me to hurt each other!)

1) There needs to be more character appearance diversity in the game. I had a really hard time making a character that I felt like looked black, and have found that same difficulty with other non-white races. It just feels like there's a smaller breadth of options if the player wants to create a non-white PC, particularly with black hair.

I really like the braids that end in a ponytail, and I was hoping to get more stuff like that. Regular cornrows, afros of various lengths, and stuff like that. The majority of the hairstyles just don't work on PCs of color; they just don't look like hair a black person would naturally have. So I'd really, truly, deeply, love to see more hair options at the very least for non-white PCs. I'm mainly experienced with black hair, being an American black guy, so I can really only speak on natural hair (dreadlocks, cornrows, afros, twistouts, etc), but I'd just like some more love for those of us that don't grow up with straight hair.

2) Specialization classes that are somehow involved in sidequests or the story somewhere. Like how in DA1, Oghren trained the PC to be a Berserker, or you had to drink dragon's blood to become a Reaver. I really liked that, and thought it made the specializations more special. I also like NPCs having their own classes, and would like to see those classes be more unique.

3) Speaking of NPCs, I hated how NPCs in DA2 were always locked out of one ability tree. It made me feel stuck with bringing Anders places even though I hated him because Merrill couldn't cast heal spells. I don't mind if they have abilities that don't allow ability trees to be used, but let's not lock characters out of abilities anymore.

4) More opportunities to have meaningful conversations with companions. It might just be the way DA2 did it, with the journal updating and telling me who to talk to and when, but I liked it better in DA1 where I'd just go check up on my allied NPCs once in a while to see if they had something new to say. Felt more organic to me that way. It's also fun to talk to them once in a while and see if you're relationship has developed to where they'll share sensitive information.

5) Please keep the rivalry system. I like being able to say whatever I want, whenever I want, and know that I'm making progress with the character relationships, even if I'm pissing someone off. It's nice to know I don't have to make nice with some jerk character I hate.

Really hoping that this thread gets read and isn't just for folks to have a discussion in. Number 1 is seriously important to me and a lot of other gamers that I know. If nothing else in this entire thread is done, Just adding some more non-straight-hair hairstyles would be a godsend.

 1.  I'd really like to see some of the characters from the books appear [I've only read The Stolen Throne & The Calling thus far].  In particularly, Fiona, that would be awesome to see her!

2.  I would love to see some more returning characters.  Sten, Oghren, Morrigan, Fenris, Isabela, the Warden, anyone/everyone.  I love come backs ;)  I'm sure we'll be seeing Flemeth.

3.  I really liked the character interaction in the first game better than the second.  Granted, you had to work harder for someone to like you in the second game which made the game a little more fun in itself, I would prefer something similar to the first.

4.  I want the choices from both games before it to impact the game...

5.  Different landscapes, please not another repeat of DA2.  Concept art looks beautiful, by the way!

Excited for what the Bioware team as in store for us!  Thanks for great games!
