I don't know if this has been confirmed yet or not, but I'd like to see a return to DA:O style party conversation where you could talk to them in full dialogue any place (other than during combat, obviously).  I didn't like how you had to be in specific places to speak to your companions.

Also, I didn't mind the gifts from Origins that were quest-related (ie. Morrigan's Grimoire thing).  Those can stay.  I just didn't like the cheapness of the gifts you could give party members to raise their approval rating that had no real point to them.  Alistair's locket, Morrigan wanting her mom's grimoire, Sten's sword, all are fine since they're a big part of the character.  But giving someone a gold bar or a silver earring just because was a poor design choice

These:

- Finishing moves
- Romance subplots that are story relevant
- Realistic sexual preferences, not everyone you meet is Bi
- Slower, more realistic combat
- A group of companions that are actually likeable, in DA2 I hated/disliked everyone but Merrill and Bethany.

In no particular order.

- Unique/feminine animations for the female PC. DA2 did a great job on female Hawke during gameplay, but cutscenes still had her looking awkward in some cases.

- Mass Effect style armour customisation. With options to mix and match pieces collected as well as add symbols, patterns etc to make it more unique.

- Have the ability to customise PC's hub (if there is one). Would have been awesome to see your weapons, armour, and trinkets you had collected during quests on display in Hawke's estate.

- Much like the party camp in DAO, have a place where all the companions can be equipped and customised at once. Having to keep returning to the party screen to change companions in DA2 became a bit tedious.

Deeper character custumization.

More complex combat.

Impactful choices.

1) I'd rather have more story content than world exploration. Having said that, I wouldn't mind both...

2) I hated, absolutely hated, the (seemingly never-ending) deep roads in DA:O, gave me a bit of claustophobia. The caves and dungeons in DA2 were thankfully small; easy to get in, do your thing and get out again. Maybe creating three mega-dungeons and three megacaves instead of one each and then re-use them smartly (that is: not quite so obviously) might work

3) character customisation: I dread the female's hairstyles, I am a warrior/rogue/mage darnit, I don't necessarily need hairdoes that put me closer to the maker; something a bit more practical for those that want it, please (especially considering that DAIII is supposed to take place in Orlais, I shudder to think of the "possibilities" of strange hairdoes). Tattoos and scars would also be appreciated...

4) romances to me are an important part in character development, especially if the potential LI is somehow an integral part of the main plot. I did not care for "bribing" a character with gifts toward liking as in DA:O, but liked the personal gifts in DA2. Through conversation but also action can a LI form his or her opinion, but that should also work the other way around. But most important to me is the fact if people are surviving harrowing experiences a bond is forged that goes beyond words or gifts and might lead to unexpected outcomes with people one might detest initially

5) please stay true to your own lore: I found it relatively immersion-breaking that a mage could become somebody in Kirkwall, own a house, even remain free (I'd like to imagine that if production time had extended for DA2, the mage would have started part 3 from within the circle)

Such negativity! Why come here, if the game is preordained to be such an unmitigated disaster? One probably has a vast number of other things more fulfilling to occupy one's time.

1. A home base where I can interact with all my companions. Having to return to the map and travel all over kirkwall just to talk was very tiresome.
2. Characters that actually have a reason to follow you. With Origins you and your followers came together to stop the Blight. It was a simple premise, but it got the job done. In DA2 I could never wrap my head around why all these ppl who obviously despise one another would keep associating for over 7 years.
3. Development of the mythologies of all the races. I feel like the previous title set up each of the races to have something really significant occur with them. The dwarves getting in contact with Kal Sharok, the work with the Harvester, the Primeval Thaig, the notion that the dwarves of the past weren't united in supporting the Elves or the Tevinter Imperium, etc. The Elves Arlathven meeting, the activation of the Eluvians, etc. And hopefully the Qunari will take advantage of the Mage rebellion and invade Thedas once again.
4. Large, diverse environments
5. Flemeth and Morrigan. And more than just cameos

#1 Quests that you aren't forced to do. My biggest annoyance in DA2 was the fact that replay isn't much fun when you have to do certain things before being able to move on. One or two things, I can let that pass but everything? Rumors all too quickly became mandatory quests and made the game less enjoyable.

#2 I liked speaking to the barkeep and finding out that King Alistair had an elven mistress. Little references to how I played the previous game, I admit, made me smile. When I saw Zevron and Isa I was also very happy. Anders was disappointing but I liked the fact that these characters were referenced to/used. You don't always have to make brand new characters every time but you don't have to recycle all the time either.
Would be nice to see at the very least, references to past LI's including Sebastian.

#3 I didn't like how the LI's were at all.
It seemed very shallow and tagged on. Now I didn't need a full blown sex scene but three or four years after a first kiss they have a second kiss? Sebastian I can understand as he is essentially a priest but the others. . .Storywise it was terrible. I felt as if any LI in DA2 was soulless, empty, and weak. If you removed all the LI's as a feature entirely, it still wouldn't effect anything else you did plotwise. I hope what I am trying to get expressed is understood, I am not the best at times with what I mean. Here are some examples.
I liked Fenris but after a while his incessant "I'm a slave, I hate everyone especially mages!" got very tiresome.I would have liked to have seen some progression where he starts to heal and isn't so angry/complaining every time you talk to him.
Anders was similar, We had better character progression with him in Awakening. I know he feels persecuted and is multiple personalities, get the poor boy some therapy!
It just struck me as heavily one tone, personality wise.

#4 I miss playing elves, not all that a huge deal but I do miss it. I know we can't be in 3 but I felt it needed to be stated anyway.

#5 Why were the preset hair, skin, and eyes not a separate option aside from preset?

1) Less time staring at a loading screen. This is a technical issue and there's only so much you can do, but it would help quite a bit.

2) Build customization that allows for clear differences in playstyle and tactics between characters of the same class.

3) A loot system that is less about iterative upgrades and more about customizing the build. Also items that do something more interesting than +1 to damage or strength or whatever, interesting effects, like granting new abilities.

4) I enjoy seeing a game world that reacts to my decisions. I was really hoping for this in DA2, but was very disappointed in terms of seeing decisions you make in year 1 affecting what happens in the game world at later times. Perhaps your companions may treat you differently, or there may be a new line of dialogue here or there, but there wasn't much sense that what I was doing was having an impact on the city.

5) Cool stuff =)

I really hope they don't do any major development things like Kal Sharok or the Arlathven. If the PC is forced human, stick to human stuff, I'd rather have the big racial development things in a game where you can actually play the race that is involved.

1. Branching relations with companions. I know rivalry has been confirmed to not return, but perhaps we could still have different kinds of relations somehow?

2. Improved tactics. Namely, we'd need tactics to tell characters to move. For instance, perhaps some way to keep our mages to not think casting spells in the face of enemies is a good idea. The ability to script companions to try to flank enemies would be very appreciated as well. Finally, we should have some catch-all target type that includes "Self" into "Ally." Having to script "Self:Low HP -> Heal," "Ally:Low HP -> Heal" and the like for barriers and what not eats up a lot of slots. It's great to be able to differentiate between Ally and Self, but a third choice would be ideal.

3. A persuasion system where we do not gain persuasive ability from battle, preferably having multiple types of persuasion as well. Doesn't necessarily have to be the same system as in DA2, but I think DA2 took many steps in the right direction.

4. Allow us to ignore inventory management on Normal and below. Perhaps a companion's default gear would scale as they level, yet remain firmly below the best gear available from loot at all times? This way there'd be an incentive to upgrade your gear, but it's not absolutely necessary on lower difficulties.

5. If tiered items return in any form, please do not have stores respect the PC's level. It feels somewhat silly to find bad items when browsing premium wares in DAO at lower levels, yet when you've gotten further into the game even the vendors who admit to not having much carry weaponry made out of dragonbone. The Stolen Throne makes dragonbone weaponry seem very rare, as it should be.

Top 5 things I'd like to see:

1. Customizable Headquarters.
- The ability to pay dividends to upgrade the size of headquarters.
- Storage capabilities
- Options much like a dialogue wheel: Add towers, Add moat, etc...
- Ability to Opt for Research into potions or weapons

2. War (Imagine ME3 and the ability to gather people)
- Visualization of war efforts (Increased NPC traffic in headquarters)
- War Report indicating what effect my actions had ( My choice to keep an enemy alive and interrogate led to positive war efforts)
- Recruitable NPCs
- Mission-oriented NPCs (Send blah-blah to do blah-blah)

3. COMPLETE emotional story tying in areas used for sidequests.
- Please don't have me discover somewhere for a sidequest, the main plot should include all lands.
- Subtle Eastereggs
- So close, but not close enough type storyline

4. Returning Characters tied in with the storyline. (Aeris to FF7 perhaps)
- All support characters should have the unfortunate ability to die according to my actions
- The love interest may have to die heroically or tragically.

5. Optimized codex and distinguished achievements.
- If I was pivotal in a certain sidequest the codex should reflect that (IE. My first time on the battlefield and I couldn't help anyone, OR, my first time on the battlefield and I was able to save everyone)
- Different titles should be offered in honorable mention
- Codex may even be more journal-type where everything is in first person. (IE. I first visited blah-blah village in hopes to save the day, it was a strange and somehow innocent place)

6. As the previous post mentioned (see above), a persuasion system
- This would tie in great with the War effort feature
- This would also relate to DA:O and trying to win favor from the nobles

I've posted the 5 things I really wished to see in DAIII much earlier in the thread. But unfortunately I forgot to add a very very important thing.

- Mirror from Black Emporium. Please never let me play a new BioWare game without it. Love that mirror and use it many many times for each and everyone of my Hawkes.

Now that I have more time...

1. As I have already stated a few times but feel it cannot be stressed enough: Absolutely no part of SP being dependent on playing MP. No "Thedas Readiness". Please. If you really feel you must have MP in addition to SP, let each stand on their own merits. Don't make some kind of threshold in SP to force us to play MP.

2. Though I was skeptical when I read about before playing, I actually liked the 3 voices thing in DA2. I love watching my sarcastic femhawke raise an eyebrow when people are talking crazy to her, and I loved the effect when my diplomatic manhawke would dish out the occasional one-liner in a deadpan voice.

3. Bring back abilities that have to be unlocked in some way. Whether it's "playing" with a pirate in a brothel, finding a book, drinking a morally questionable concoction, or making a deal a with a dragon-worshipping Leonidas look-alike, this added to the DAO experience.

4. Many people have already mentioned being able to open squad dialogues at any time. May I also add to this: being able to access squad inventory while in home base. It was really quite annoying to have to go to the estate, grab stuff out of storage, go to the bar, swap party members and equipment, go back to the estate, drop stuff in storage.....

5. Bring back the random kill animations in regular combat. My favorite moment in DA history was watching my dual-wielding rogue decapitate Kolgrim. Just getting the occasional cutscene for a boss didn't quite cut it.

Nr 1
I would like to see more divers items even if its just vendar trash and not that junk thing in DA2 cause Hallo that was a waste.

Nr 2
pls pls pls bring back Dwarves and elves i know its hard to make it like DAO but i so pref playing a dwarven char to a human one, maybe having the option to start a dwarven surface city where u can become the king so that the dwarven ppl whont go exstinc from the endless darkspawn atacks, as a end result :o)

Nr 3
i like the 3 voice option as in ME but i Hate the way spells/abilities workt in DA2 along with the Very limitet list of spells, DAO concept was better and the combo way of using spells workt, that and we need more spells then DAO i rather have alot spells to chose from even knowing that at max lvl i cant get them all.

Nr 4
I dont know what the core story of DA3 will be But if u get a home/base/camp/castle/land one of the things i always loved in a game was the abilitie to change the way it lookt, Like if u had a camp u could order ur soldiers to build fortifikations and see ur enviroment change even if its as simpel as talking to 1 npc and voila the chopt down some trees and made treenshes along with a small wall.

Nr 5
In DAA i really liked sigrid and Varic in DA2 so maybe bring a female dwarven char companion into the game, qunari female would also be nice But we cant have a DA game without atleast 1 dwarven companion its a plain and simpel MUST HAVE.

Bioware made certain statements at PAX and whatnot. I hope they will be upheld in an adequate fashion. In addition:
1) Arcane warrior/battlemage specialization
2) I want to be able to play a good blood mage
3) Return of spell combos
4) More information/interaction with spirits/demons(I know they're basically the same, just clarifying)
5) The Grey Wardens should have a greater influence

1.Good story that does not contain a segment where you can't change the outcome no matter what you do near the end. Pretty much the chantry blowing up thing that you couldn't stop. Even though their was plenty of ammo in the story that could lead to you killing the man who was responsible for it later. That forced you into two outcomes that didn't seem to effect the general ending all that much. If the chantry situation is to be used again then it shouldn’t seem that theirs something I obviously could have done to stop it.

2. Keep the combat style from 2 just fine tune it.

3. Team member arguments and friendly chatting. This is more of a keep I guess.

4. Being Hawk again. Hawk’s story still feels like theirs a chapter that need’s to be written.

5.Desire demon squad mate and possible LI. The spectrum of different places of where this story could go is interesting. Like the evil side of what screwed up things you would chose to do to keep her around if you want to be bad, Or the possibility of convincing her she could be more then what she is. That the concept of Desire can also be positive and exploring that with you is to hard to pass up.

1. Humor, particularly the sarcastic option staying and party banter
2. Returning characters Morrigan, Tallis, Leliana, Isabella, Merril,Varric, etc.
3. More characters showing appreciation for main character particularly the love interests
4. One BIG choice that changes the rest of the game
5. Mabari dog back as a companion rather than as an ability. I miss good ol Beans

You might want to try researching the names of some of the Bioware staff that post here in the forums. They're not peons. They also do listen, here's a thread proving it. That suggested change was added in the last ME3 multiplayer dlc.

Replaying 2 and one of the things I'd like to not see in 3 is NPCs walking through battlezones like nothing is happening, jabbering away whatever line they're saying. Or NPCs standing right there, again, like nothing is happening.

1. Choices that actually matter and change things! In DA:O this was one of THE defining characteristics that set it apart from other RPGs, and then DA2 happened...

2. Romantic subplots that are actually viable for female players. I'm sorry, but the Anders and Fenris subplots were both utterly broken in DA2. Again, DA:O had two great choices in Alastair and Zevran, but DA2 dropped the ball. The only romance that really struck me as working was Merrill, actually. And I'm not talking about tragic versus happy. Half or more of the DA:O endings were tragic, but we had choices that we could make that actually mattered.

3. More map variation. The constant recycling of dungeons in DA2 got old, old, old during the first play through, to say nothing of the second.

4. Choices that matter. I know I said this in number one, but really, I cannot stress this enough.

5. The ability to customize armor and weaponry for NPCs, at LEAST to the level of ME3, for example.

yessss, to all of the above and on top of that a massive open world to explore like Skyrim (doubtfull it will happen but one can dream)
I, for one wouldn't mind to wait a couple of years for an other DA game if it meant it would be as huge and varrried as Skyrim

traveling merchants that actually travel (like the Kajiit in Skyrim) and sell some Special items that you cant find at regular merchant (and i dont mean just a better potion)

Dragons (why else is it called Dragon Age)

Huge enemies you can climb on like in Dragons Dogma (Dragon, Gollum, Orc)

More RPG and less over the top / Manga style hack and slash battles

No more characters like the hypocritical Manga  elf (whats his name again)

Sea battles with realistic looking Ships like in ACIII could be with the Qunari when they want to invade Orlais
(at least i expect they want to take advantage of the situation)

when there is a cameo it should be a lot more than just the 30 seconds and 2 lines like in DAII
in particular when it is one of the main characters from previuos game. better to make them a Temp companion for at least one or two quests

Griffons instead of a horse!!!! and while you're at it Bring back the Grey Wardens

More usefull loot and less garbage

and last but not least an immersive Story that draws you in and doesnt let go with a cohesive ending ,
(no red white blue or whatnot ending)

1. NO multiplayer (this steals development time from the single player)

2. More RPG elements - attributes, perks, advantages

3. An equal good and bad side. NOT good and jerk side where good gets 10x more quests and jerk just gets to be a jerk.  We should be allowed to play as evil and have the same amount of reward - both xp and loot.

4. A ton more customization options

5. Sandal
