Please bring back the dual wealding warrior :)

Or at least stop with the differentiating classes thing. I liked the idea of mages wielding armor, warriors casting spells, and rogues doing a bunch of non rogue things.

1) Voiced primary character. I was spoiled by ME, sorry. No voice, less fun for me.

2) Closer match between dialogue summary and what character actually says. Yes, I would rather have an explosive mess of text on half of my screen, than pick 'I know' and Hawke/wheover says 'You're an idiot.' That kind of breakdown is REALLY annoying.

3) If main character is new, I would like cameos of Warden and Hawke with respective love interests.

4) I liked the simplified combat of DA2, and I liked the 'reidiculous' combat gestures. I felt cool and adventurous. Please don't ramp it all the way down to DAO's minor animations.

5) I would prefer a companion system based on quality of interaction rather than 'agree or disagree'. In DAO, I just kept using gifts to make sure I could RP the conversations I wanted, and repair the affection damage afterward. In DA2, I had several companions stay neutral because my choices kept bouncing between friendship and rivalry so much they just stayed nowhere. Respectfully disagree is fine, but I don't like losing a companion because I was honest...

1. Getting to see Hawke and the Warden ! They need to have a role in this story, a real one I mean

2. A better gameplay. The current one looks too much like MMO's... and I'm fed up with MMOs (been playing for 8 years). It should be something smooth, but fast... I really like Fable and Kingdom of Amalur's gameplay, for instance... Skyrim is great, but a little bit messy, and not visually impressive... Like this :  Everything is said in this video ... great combat system and JUMPING and quick action, memorable characters, the feeling of actually doing something meaningful

3. CUSTOMIZATION ! Maybe body customization (it would be great if all the characters didn't look exactly the same...). I don't want "eyes shape"... I want to decide where the corner goes, how long my eyelashes are, how arched my eyebrows are, how high my cheekbones go... and so on !

4. Meaningful sidequests... I mean, ones that make you see how the world works ! How life is like, how people live, their culture, and that have an impact on the world and how people see you.

5. Better companions ! I loved to chat with them in Origins, getting to know them, little by little and WHENEVER I WANTED TO. Damn ! It was such a pain to have to wait through a WHOLE chapter until I could talk to my friends ! Oh, and better flirting. In DA 2 it was weird how romances went, like "Hmm... you're ssmexy slurpo ! - OH I THINK I LOVE YAW ! - MITEW ! Let's get mar... oh know wait, WE HAVE TO HAVE SEX" ... you know what I mean.

hm...

i have said some stuff way back but there is one thing i would really want:

Mage-finisher-animations (like the rogue that jumps onto the ogre to kill it etc.) it is just lame IMHO that the cooles class (for me - i love mages) has no such animation (in DA:O...i forgot if DA2 had them at all?)

Well a Toolset would be at the top of my list. If I had to pick 4 more I think they would be: A non-linear plot, Good party banter, A convenient way to quickly and easily equip companions, and better balance between classes.

1 the character we get to play is from ferelden some way, run awey peasant , knight on a mission , spy , lord , escaped convict , anything but he or she or it is form ferelden

2 character get to rule or command army , business or a castle , DA:O we get to join an army choos beatwin which people live or die , evls or werlwolvs... then we even get to choos how rules the country and play politics which was very fun ! . DA:O-A we get an entire castle and a army and get to hold court the was awesome but was to short . DA 2 you kind of go in to politics and kind of have a mine but nothing come of it ! you can't hire solder to protect your house and thing. if i had perhaps you know how would be a live .i may even have try to take Kirkwall by storm side with the mages and with my army, which i used the mine to equip the army and take over Kirkwall .BUT YOU CAN'T mine is worthless less and no guards for hire(but the mine quest and haveing a  mine was nice made me feal more power full, and the noble qoust did make me fill like i was gaining support for my rule which made it feal real)  ... but a lot of Mercenary try to kill me ... it the DA:O "me i could never be a solder i rather die" form bandit how died 6s later

3 gold that used besides weapon, runes, heath potion ... use more in bribes , armys or your house upgrades like a guard golem for 30 sovereign .i also mean like the mass effect ship upgrades (useful ones)like in DA:O-A

4 lot of controversial questions like in DA 2 slavery, Stockholm Syndrome, mental illness, feminism, post-feminism, immigration, cultural relativism, religious fanaticism, and terrorism thous ware very good

5 A long campaign and with Choices actually matter in this game and the next which is something you Bioware good at

why? - what is so interesting about this small backwater kingdom that could barely defend itself from the blight? (it would have fallen without the warden - hell orlais would not have that problem IMHO...ok, they have more wardens there, too)

other then smelling like wet dog that is :D

no, really, what is so interesting about ferelden - i mean there are tons of more interesting places from the tevinter empire to kalsharok (second of the dwarfen cities), antiva, nevarra and - if you love the wardens - the anderfels ;)

hm...something to add to the thread:

1. more witches of the wilds (maybe even some who left that heritage behind and became something else (whether this "else" is being captured and becoming a circle mage or running to tevinter to become a magister, it would make for an interesting story))

I'll buy and probably love the game regardless, but these are my immediate thoughts.

1) Returning faces from previous games and perhaps also books or comics. Leliana and Cassandra, Cullen, Anders, Shale, Rhys and Evangeline, Adrian, Fiona, Divine Justinia V, Empress Celene are all characters I think could have relevance to the plot. Varric, Alistair, Isabela, Sten, Aveline, Fenris are other characters I'd like to see. Other characters should be mentioned. The Warden and the Champion should be talked about but not seen IMO. If they are seen I'd like them to be just as they were in my imported saves, with the same abilities and faces. An alternative would be to create them at the start of the game. If this kind of detail ain't available, I'd rather not see them at all and would prefer to wait until later games.

2) More focus on exploration and discovery. Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins was great in this regard, probably because they introduced the universe the series is set in. Still, I think discovery could be introduced once again, in order to give us the feel of "WOW!" and Oh snap!".

3) Slower combat than Dragon Age 2, but faster than Dragon Age: Origins. Also, less chunks of meat flying around, it took some time getting used to. The skill trees should be similar to Dragon Age 2 IMO. Finish moves was a nice toch that should be returned.

4) A real look at the horrors the Mage-Templar War brings. I want to see a world thrown into chaos, with Orlesians embroiled in a civil war and threatening Ferelden and Nevarra, the Mages and Templar using teeth and claws to fight eachother (with Demons, Abominations, Madmen and extremists running around), the Dalish seeing opportunities in the chaos, the Dwarves not knowing who to trust, Kirkwall thrown into chaos and threatened by Starkhaven (if certain choices were made), the Darkspawn and Grey Wardensmaking sublte moves, influenced by some new threats (Corypheus), Tevinter and the Qunari squaring up for war. All of these conflicts don't have to be in the game, but they could be mentioned and set up for future games (particularily Tevinter and Qunari). Either way, I'd like to see despair, I'd like to see death, plunder, torture, madness, sadness, rage and blackness - everything that makes war so horrifying. The Fifth Blight was pretty good at this, showing how horrifying the Darkspawn were with unpleasnt things like the Broodmothers, Shrieks, Ogres, hordes of cannibalistic Hurlocks and Genlocks, the Darkspawn taint, etc.
On a side note: keep the pale skin, pale eyes and black armor for the Darkspawn, but give them the shapr teeth and filthy athmpsphere that made them so unpleasant in the first game.

5) If the main character is supposed to be an Inquisitor, then give me the option to be a ruthless bastard who imprison people on a whim, tortures people for the lulz and burns down villages just to hear the screams. Or something like that. I want to be ruthlessly singleminded and determined at least, doesn't have to evil.

Somebody made a suggestion in a different thread (and possibly here) to release a set of mod tools shortly before DA:I comes out specifically to let the community submit weapon/armor skins for use in the game. I rather like this idea, and would like it if this was implemented.

I know it would be a bit of a burden, as you'd have to have a team together specifically to sift through all of the submissions both to find those that work/fit the setting, and to make sure there are no serious issues with the ones that are. But still, I think it could be done, and would be awesome if it was.

TF2 did something similar with their community-submitted items, and that idea took off like crazy...

EDIT: Oh, and please bring back the stealthy Rogue mechanics from DA:O. I liked being able to flit around an enemy base and gut my opponents before they even knew what hit them. Assassination is fun!

I did post earlier in this thread, but i came up with some other things i would like to see. I'm not sure if it's posted before, but it's a lot of posts to go through so i take my chances :)

1. I would love to see some spears as a weapon in DA:I. I'm pretty sure that, when there are swords and shields and the like, there are spears to be found. It also could make for some interesting combat and tactical approach in the game, (especially when/if we get horses in the game). And it's something we almost never see in games (as far as i know).
And about the close quarter combat, a spear is more than just a sharp tip on a long stick, and it's length doesn't have to be like 3 meters or something ;-)

2. Investments which do actually pay out in some way at the end. In DA2 you could support the refugees, become a partner in a mining company, but it doesn't really affect the world your in. It would be nice to see some effect when investing money and/or effort in something. It doesn't have to be profitable for just you and your party, it's nice when the world your in just becomes a better place.

3. Give players the possibility to chose between different outfits when at home/base camp. It's a little bit boring when you have the same set of clothes for the duration of a couple of years (in my opinion), it's a small issue, i know, but those kind of details make games interesting for me.

4. When the main character is a mage, let the world around him or her react to the fact that she uses magic. Give different people different reactions on the PC. not just the companions, also the NPC. In a world that is probably torn apart in a war between mages and templars, this is something that should be in the game. Already everyone in Thedas knows about magic from experience or story's, and i'm sure they have an opinion about something that is so common in their daily lives. This can make your decisions more important, because if everyone knows that your a 'bad' mage for example, how are you supposed to get support or information. It's even more interesting if their opinions are influenced by the chantry, certainly now that the seekers are probably a major factor in DA:I.

5. Please keep the possibility to change/tune your characters appearance during the game, like the mirror of transformation in DA2. When the game takes place over a longer period like in DA2, i like to change the appearance of my character over the course of the game. Because when the PC goes through all the things in the game, like Hawke does, his/her appearance changes from young to, well, a little bit less young i guess ;-)

1: Non-repetetive dungeons, please dont do the copy paste dungeons of DA2
2:Keep the general visual style of DA2, the armours and weapons really look cool, especially mage staffs just look so much better than in DAO
3:Keep or improve the fighting style from DA2, its much more organic and flows more naturally also feels more immediate.
4: More exploration, random encounters and more random bits of lore.
5:Importing a save from DAO and DA2 so that we have our minor different bits.

No more class restrictions. One of the reasons I loved DAO was because I could be a great and powerful mage, but I could wear armor and use weapons like some sort of Battle Mage. Then I became an Arcane Warrior and all my dreams came true.

1) Realistic love scenes - you know maybe not being fully clothed while making love

2) Elves that are attractive - sorry but the ones in DA2 were a bit scary (kinda of anorexic hunchbacks - very weird). Doesnt most lore describe Elves as beautiful.
3) Cameos appearances are great, but it would be nice if they actually looked reasonably close to their original appearance (poor, poor Alistair)
4) Rich story lines and wonderful companions as well conceived as Alistair, Varric, Morrigan, and Isabella

5) larger world, voiced players, great story

sorry, but this dragon age not les miserables -.- (also that is quite good, too)

ps: i support "real" love scenes, because firstly:

sex is nothing to be ashamed of (even if prudish americans preach something else)

and secondly:

this game is rated for grown ups (adults!) so it can have such scenes without any problems (and it should have because it is unrealistic otherwise (the programmers should be forced to wear underware while having sex themselves, then they would remove things like that from the game pretty fast ^_^))

and what would be the story then?

balls and intrigue in orlais?

sorry, but no - and mages would still be kept like dangerous pets (only qunari mages have it worse...they have to look like pets (with the leash), too!) so, no.

no, i like mage/templar war (i hope for something ominous in the background, that gets fleshed out during the game, too though) as one of the happenings before and during the game

 1. Customization. Bioware, more customization is always a good thing, think you have enough? Throw some more in.

2. On demand companion dialogue. A lot more dialogue with companions in the camp/their place, DAO had tons of conversations with companions yet 2 had perhaps 8 with each, it was really disappointing.

3. More tactical combat. The combat in 2 was much faster paced but at the sacrifice of everything that was tactical about the original.

4. Larger areas. The confinement to one city was horrible, enough said.

5. ORIGIN STORIES.

Honestly, one of the things I'd really like to see is a skip combat button, or something like one.

On casual difficulty, and not necessarily for the first playthrough... but there. I like replaying BioWare titles to see the different story options, but my interest in the combat portion really flags on the second playthrough. In some cases - like DA2's 4-stage dragon fight if you want to finish Hubert's questline, or the bizarre goon-rain waves as you travel the streets at night - it's tedious even on the first.

Sacrilege, I'm sure. But the story doesn't progress unless all combats are won anyway and it's the story I'm most interested in. On the combat-heavy side there's already a skip-through conversation button, and the Action mode in ME3 for players who like the action more than the conversation. So what do you say, BioWare? Really commit to that promising Narrative mode. Maybe with an activated action option for casual players to skip combat and get back to the story?
