-open world
-better conversations system and moral choices
-Tallis as party member and romanceable
-more strategy and not another hack n slash maybe with more build options for the fortress/castle and massive fights with multiple enemies on the battlefield.
-Leliana

Oh yes and more customization options for the main protagonist.

everything but Talis  who wants to romance a person who thinks freedom is stupid crap and non-believers should be killed/re-educated (as in brain-washed and/or drugged and worked to death)?

as for what do a i want:

scabbards etc. for weapons - no being unsheated on the back of the character (looks so bad IMHO - also there are more pressing issues)

greetings LAX

I want to know more about the Qunari homeland.
Did humans flee from the Kossith/Qunari and thus there reason for arriving in Thedas?
Did the Qunari chase them there to continue the war of conversion?
Why have the Qunari been unable to return to their homelands? Why has no one followed them? Is it because of something magical in nature and thus the source for their distrust of mages? Did a Blight occur in their homelands?

If there was a disaster of magical origins in their homelands, could it be coming to Thedas? Would it have anything to do with what Sandal said or is that for a time that will never be covered?

Do the Qunari actually know more about human history than the humans or are they simply bashing the idea of Chantry-led education?

(1) New protagonist (GW and Hawke were not interesting enough).
(2) Much better area design without too much map re-using.
(3) Possibility for the protagonist to become an Abomination (permanently) in the second half of the game but before the end.
(4) Some amount of "per contra boss fights", where you are the boss and have to defeat a bunch of annoying heroes.
(5) Complicated and very interesting skills/talents/spells system plus real time dynamic combat.

...Well, and very good story of course :)

Not five but here's three suggestions from me off the top of my head.

[1.] Do not 'play safe' with artistic and architectural design of locations we are going to visit. As I understand, a large portion of the game will take place in Orlais, so please don't make it "generic", as in, try to make it's cities, villages and general landscape truly different and visually strikingly distinguishable from locations we already saw in the previous games.

And if the story happen to take us to other locations like Antiva, Nevarra, Rivain, Tevinter etc. make them aesthetically/architecturally as 'foreign' and alien-ish as possible.

[2.] Take note at how Mass Effect 3 handled interactions between companions. Going around the Normandy after each mission and talking to squadmates or listening to them talking between themselves is probably my favorite thing about ME3. Not just aboard the Normandy but on the Citadel and during missions, the banter is absolutely brilliant. I know Dragon Age is already terrific in that department, but try to implement some kind of equivalent of that in camps, taverns or where-ever we're suppose to get together with our companions between quests.

[3.] We know that Thedas is in the state of chaos. We're probably going to see a lot of suffering and death, we'll probably gonna have to make some heart-shattering choices throughout the game, and the fates of individual people, cities and possibly entire countries and nations will depend upon our decisions at the end... But please BioWare, make at least one *optional* ending where our protagonist and his friends can survive the final showdown against whatever we'll be fighting against.

If we take our time with the game, meticulously complete all the sidequests, make friends with companions and complete their 'loyalty missions', please make them count at the very end. Not to imply Disney, rainbows and unicorns, but let the players have at least one "good" ending where the main character can survive and actually witness the result of his accomplishments and consequences of his decisions upon the world, alongside his friends and allies.
Nothing kills the mood and a replay value of the game as the ones in which our avatar is already doomed to die from the start, especially for us who like to roleplay our characters in first-person.

Good luck :)

1) More variation and detail in the locations.
2) Choices having an actual impact.
3) Returning characters (e.g. Alistair, Morrigan and Varric) - and not just cameo appearances!
4) Mages to have more choice in clothing, i.e. pants! I wore the Robes of the Notorious Pirate way past the zero star mark because they weren't a dress...
5) Decent romances for female (and male) characters. The heterosexual romances for women were terrible (obviously in my opinion) in DA:2; both Fenris and Anders were just... whiny. Then as another example, in Mass Effect 3, there was pretty much only Kaidan unless you romanced Garrus previously or had a lesbian romance; this was fine by me but other people, I assume, found it irritating.

Pinpointing 5 things was hard...

1. Free roam world
2. AI that learns from the player's game playing style and preferences
3. More complex dungeons
4. The full range of mythological races and classes for character creation and beasts
5. More random events to make the game experience unique, possible taking suggestions from the learning AI

#1. If the Inquisitor mage casts a spell in front of or in proximity to a Templar they notice or there is a damn good reason that they don't care.

Nathaniel Howe.
Look at the way relationships were handled in DAO and forget how they were done in DA2.
Let us roam a bit more.
Develop the Narrative Mode.  Give us the option to concentrate more on the story than the combat.  On my 2nd/whatever playthrough, my interest in combat wanes quite a bit.
As the poster above said, Respect The Lore.

1. A return to the "Origins" model.  While I did like Hawke, so much of the appeal of Dragon Age Origins was so many choices.  I realize this will possibly mean more voiceovers, but we all know that if you spend that money, it will incrase your sales in the long run, and especially of the DLCs since peope will still be replaying.  I've played Origins many more times than DA2.  DA2 you pretty much get 3 classes with 2 endings.  A return to Origins style with many choices will keep people playing longer, which is the real key to selling your DLC, since while some of us will return to the game when new DLC comes out, many will not if they've already moved on.

2. On that note above, dwarven romance options.  Humans could be with a human or an elf, and elf could be with human or elf, but nobody could romance a dwarf NPC meaning dwarves had to pick between humans, elves, or chastity.  Please don't do that again.

3. It probably won't happen, but I'd also like to see it skirt the M rating.  Don't give in to Fox News' hype or any of that crap.  If the thing keeping underwear on during romance scenes is truly an AO rating, then so be it.  But if you can pull it off with an M rating, do so.  Do it like you did Liara in ME1 and especially in ME3 if you must, where the scene is tailored to tease and never show anything, but you know they are naked.  As I said, if the thing keeping it from happening is truly an AO rating, then I understand.

4. This is another thing that may not be possible for every case, but should be in some and that is I would love to have our  warden and Hawke and have them look like they did in our games, assuming players still have their old Origins data.  If the data isn't found (like the player has deleted their orgin saves) then let us redesign our warden if we choose (again, like ME2 and 3 did, import the data, then give an opton to go with it or edit it).  Hawke should be easy enough, you did that with the ME series and anyone importing a DA 2 save will automatically have the right data.

5. An OPTION for those that had their Warden die at the end of Origins who then decided to play through Awakening and other DLC to 'fix" the game so that their choices in DAO and the expansions matter, but the Orlesian Warden did Awakening and the DLC.  As I said, this should be an option, not something that is automatically done.

OH AND HONORABLE MENTION: if the player is a gorram blood mage, have NPCs take notice! Your companions trust you less, templars occasionally come after you, something.  I understand the reason not to have them notice is so the player has the choice of being a blood mage (and to avoid problems like the deleted scene with Wynne confronting a blood mage PC I saw on YouTube), but there should be SOME consequences.  Maybe they know what a bad ass you are, so most people stay on your good side, except those random templar encounters every once in a while, and as I said, some NPCs might treat you different.

Less self-imposed censorship from BioWare's side. Can't tell a good tale when you're busy pulling punches. They need to stop paying attention to social agendas and start paying attention to crafting a believable plot. And for the love of all that is holy no more Mary Sues.

 1. Meaningful choices (And no retcons like Leliana surviving a sword to the heart)
2. Customization
3. Different endings like Origins not the same ending with minor variations like DA2 or ME3. They can be bittersweet but I'd prefer if they handled it like Origins where you can survive and get a semi-happy ending if you made the right choices. Suicide vie retardness (Synthesis) should not be the "best ending".
4. Our old PCs, What happened to them and so on. You don't have to show them but at least tell us what happened to them

1. Dialogue that truly allows me to role play. I like the dialogue wheel, but please don't add a lot of auto-dialogue like ME3. One of the best implementations of the dialogue wheel was in SWTOR, for the first time it truly felt like I could role play with the dialogue wheel. So please look the there for inspiration.

2. Good romances, I thought the Fenris romance was okay, but the Alistair romance was amazing.

3. Templars that notice if a mage casts a spell 3 meters away from them, and better clothes for mages that want to stay hidden. Like the DLC robes you got in DA2

4. More intelligent choices in dialogue. For example when Anders compares magic with using a sword, it always bothers me that you can't bring up the point that a child with a sword is not likely to slaugther a village due to a bad dream. DA is a world of grey, and both sides usually have valid points allow us to bring that up in dialogue

5. Learn from ME3 I thought is was amazing how the crew interacted with each other on the Normany, made it feel alive. It was great. After each mission I kept running around just wanting to know what my crew where talking about noe

6. Great story(but that goes without saying)

1. Our choices need to have an impact on the world around us. We need to feel like we are genuinely changing the world as we adventure.

2. The choices we already made need to have an impact. The import from DA:O and DA2 needs to matter. Make the decisions actually affect the world. It doesn't have to be huge, but it needs to be more than what DA2 did.

3. Better tactical combat. No more spawning waves, more emphasis on taking advantage of terrain and resources to set up your battlefield.

4. More in-depth companion interaction. I actually think DA2 did this well, but I think there's room for improvement.

5. More branching paths for the story. DA2 was the tightest railroad I've ever seen in a western RPG. Let's not do that again.

i would like to see spell combos stuff like using a earth spell and combing it with a water spell and creating a wood spell stuff like that combing two diffrent spells and creating a new more powerfull spell

The only thing I hope to see is better level design. I enjoyed most of the story of DA2, but the repetitive maps and lazy way the designers tried to "differentiate" them was ridiculous. That, and I want to see returning characters.

1. Nevarra- this country has dragonhunting, Cumberland, swanky temples to honor the dead...it just sounds very interesting.

2. An improvement to the character models- Games like "The Witcher 2" and "Guild Wars 2" are leading the facial animation department in RPG's, in my opinion...this must be remedied.

3. New or Hybrid Specializations- "Force Mage" was a new specialization that found great success. I feel there is an oppurtunity to create build styles or improve upon previous styles.

4. A focused antagonist or threat- The first game had the Blight as the threat, and Loghain as the antagonist. DA2's antagonists were too scattered and unclear. If we're the Inquisition, give us a villain or organization that might work against us.

5.  Provings- In DA Origins, the Proving fights were fun and varied. Any chance to compete in another gladitorial fight would be welcome, perhaps with fighters from across Thedas.

more impactful choices.. like those seen in ME1

i loved the combat speed in DA2, so hopefully that stays.

if this game has save imports, then IMO you need to bring back companions from the previous games. give us 1 or 2 new ones sure.. but please focus on the existing ones. why have save imports at all if previous companions are just going to have cameo roles?

bring back the gear sets of DA1. some of my favorite quests (and fights) were those related to the gear sets.

give us what you advertise.. its fine if you dont want to release info until its 'ready'.. but you need to actually back that up by giving us the features you say are in the game. i think part of the problem with ME3 was you didnt do that.. and if you did, it was on a VERY minor level.

The same type of people who thinks Cullen is very nice character and probably a wonderful companion, this type of people probably hope that Cullen will undestand the good reasons for main character to become a blood mage.

Do that make any sense to you?

I call that BS. Cullen has suffered under the blood mages,  he knows perfectly well what they do to others, he doesn't see mages as people,he was half crazy in Origens and he totally lost his mind the moment that Magehawke and hawke's Li Anders walked away from kirkwall or magehawke got to be viscount.. Meh.

In all tallis suffered under the humans and their religion, she was saved by a qunari and introduced to a new way of life, now that she believe in loosing "something" for the good of "others" is not so far-fetched we have this type of people in  real life.

Honestly, one of the things I'd really like to see is a skip combat button, or something like one.

On casual difficulty, and not necessarily for the first playthrough... but there. I like replaying BioWare titles to see the different story options, but my interest in the combat portion really flags on the second playthrough. In some cases - like DA2's 4-stage dragon fight if you want to finish Hubert's questline, or the bizarre goon-rain waves as you travel the streets at night - it's tedious even on the first.

Sacrilege, I'm sure. But the story doesn't progress unless all combats are won anyway and it's the story I'm most interested in. On the combat-heavy side there's already a skip-through conversation button, and the Action mode in ME3 for players who like the action more than the conversation. So what do you say, BioWare? Really commit to that promising Narrative mode. Maybe with an activated action option for casual players to skip combat and get back to the story?

I sympathize with this. Killing things gets old, especially peripheral fights like the night goon raids, which felt mostly like a leveling device. tedious ;)

1. Expansive conversation options
2. No main protagonist 'pre made' but our own option like with Origins
3. No hack & slash
4. Everything on the game, not a bunch of $20 add on DLCs (okay asking too much i know)
5. Hints at tie ins with a hopeful DA4 game!
