1) Silent protagonist (honestly doubt this will happen. Much more a fan of this than the voiced protagonist, personally. Also, this way, the game is easier to mod.)
2) The option to be opposed to the Chantry, as a human. (It might have been due to having a silent protagonist and my own personal interpretation, but in DA:O my character hated the Chantry, and never sided with them. However, in DA2, I found it impossible for Hawke to show anything but devotion towards them... despite the fact he was a blood mage, and thus would not be welcome by them)
3) A longer campaign than DA2, closer to length of DA:O, if possible
4) Werewolf party member
5) Mod support

 1. Bodies. And by bodies, I mean please don't turn corpses into sparkling bones or a pile of coins. After a fight, please leave the corpses as corpses. Also, please don't make them disappear until after we leave the zone.

2. Please remove, and/or give an option to remove, all the little circles that appear under allies and enemies at the start of a fight. Makes it very hard to take cool screenshots.

3. A real final battle. Not the little skirmish we get at the ends of Act 2 and 3 of DA2. Bring back the truly epic and grand scale battles you gave us in Da:O. The Battle of Ostagar, The Siege of Denerim, etc. DA:O remains the better of the two games because of it's scale. Please bring that back.

4. I think the majority of those who posted before me have already mentioned, but bring back the characters we already love. Save yourself the trouble of having to introduce a bunch of new charactersm bring back those we already know instead.

5. Mix the amount and kind of side quests in DA3. Keep the chantry board jobs, the random events when travelling, mercenary work, clearing out city streets of bandits and thugs then their main hide out, and all the other things like that from DA:O and DA2.

EDIT: 6. I'd also really like to see a clear conclusion to Sebestian's story arch. Helping him retake Starkhaven would be loads of fun.

Return of the characters from DA:O as party members
Ability to be a Grey Warden again
Better party interaction. More along the lines of DA:O than DA2
More tactical combat as seen in DA:O than the button mashing combat of DA2
Better romances, again along the lines of DA:O as opposed to the bland and meaningless romances seen in DA2

2) Urdnot Wrex (conditionally linked to #1, obviously)

3) Space

4) Either real-time or tactical overhead combat, not that simple button-mashing crap

5) Maynard James Keenan

Lots of stuff touched on that I'd like to see, but I'd also love to have a "arena" type environment that doesn't necessarily reward XP but will let the player take a party in to test builds or even just to get some cooldown time between story segments to eviscerate waves of foes. I felt like in both DA:O and DA2 I'd get my character build just about set and the game was over before I got to really sink my teeth into it and cut loose.

Clearly not a "major" want, but it would be nice to see something like this :)

1. Morrigan to return, her sarcasm was sorely missed from DA2
2..Unique and different environments (i,e. NO reuse of maps over and over)
3. More choice over option of healer companion, Being stuck witha ****y Anders for DA2 if your character was not a healer was frankly annoying so much I wanted to stop playing the moment he opened his gob about how poorly treated as a mage he was.
4. Return of the combat system in DA2, that was a vast improvement over DA1
5. Value for money, if you charge a full price game, I expect the story to take over 80+ hours to complete!

1) return of the origins
2) qunari as an origin choice
3) the dark story telling of DAO
4) a return to the 'epic feel' of origins - DAO had the final march against the archdemon, orzammar city and the deep roads fight against the broodmother, the intrigue of the anvil, Uldred possessing mages...it was all so bone chilling and awesome
5) Oghren or Varric, I love dem dwarves

An important and strong connection between the storylines of all games until now.The whole Flemeth- Morrigan thing that was revealed in DA2 seemed like it would turn into something great in DA3.Also, DAO's combat system is far better than DA2's in my opinion.

1. An upgradeable place I can call home! Sort of like the Keep in NWN2 :o

2. Banter, banter, banter! I want my party members to talk my ears off!

3. An epic ending like in Origins, resulting from choices that actually matter ingame.

4. New and different areas that take your breath away, not the recurring dungeon crawl from DA2.

5. Sparkle powder! :D

I loved Origins but felt DA2 was a bit of a let down, it could have been sooo much better, so any improvement on that is a bonus. I would like to see:

1 - Returning characters - especially Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana, maybe even The Warden and Hawke

2 - Choices that change the outcome of the game - This is why i loved Origins so much, our choices mattered and i would love to see this

3 - More customisation - I'm a big fan of creating characters and playing around with them in the game. I love the customisation options in Warcraft and Rift and would love to see something similar in the next DA

4 - An open world - This is perhaps my biggest wish. I hate invisible walls and will admit i'm a little excited by the fact the creators have been looking to Skyrim (one of my other favourite games)

5 - Relationships similar to Origins - The biggest let down in DA2 for me was how the relationships worked, how quick and meaningless they seemed to be. The companions seemed to have no personalities and were just 'there'. I'd like relationships like Origins.

I also really want them to keep Aubrey Ashburn and similar sort of music! I love the music from DA!

1. Good story
2. Customization
3. tactical combat
4. consequetial choices
5. romances that are realistic, such as marriage not just sleeping around with everyone. Remember realistically, in the medieval times marriage was actually respected.

1) Not to sell out to EA's profit-driven demands. (EA is good at ruining franchises)
2)multiplayer functionality (coop for campaign)
3)toolset (open-sourced would be a bonus)
4)anything else that can facilitate endless, good community content (community contests to produce DLC campaigns, etc)
5) DM client ;) (imo, NWN was one of the most innovative, fun games I've ever played...kudos to early bioware...just wasn't marketed well enough)
6) expanded ruleset. more races/subraces, more classes, more skills, feats, more customization options for player's characters and all else that you can 'borrow' from d&d rules that has been proven to be fun.

Thank you and if you don't mind i will give everything i have in mind:

1) story: contains choices that matters. Storytelling is more similar to DA:O than DA:2. Overarching conflict just like in DA:O and mass effect series, and inside the overarching conflict are problems that actually matters like DA:O. Add major qunari conflict, orlesian treachery inside the court against ferelden, flemeth/morrigan problem, elf problem, more deep roads quests, darkspawn problems and contracting companions through the major quests. Has a time limit on main quest like in ME:2, if neglected or accomplished, the place, interractions, dialogues changes to respective emotions by either companions and/or leaders.

2) companions: have interesting backgrounds, better ways to tell friendship levels than DA:2. Have more interesting romance options. Diverse species companions and different classes. A place where everyone can gather. A mabari companion! They're always fun and so are golems! Romance options should actually looks better looking than DA:2. Isabela was kind of a disappointment when she started to tell people about my warden, and not to insult, females in DA:2 have little chin beards. Bethany was kind of the best looking woman in the game but she's related to the champion so, that sucks. Companion banters should be back.

3) Customization: have more character customization in the beginning, personally more hairstyles because i wanted to have the champions hair, but i can't since i play with xbox. I know, DA isn't optimized with consoles, but i have no choice, and seeing the radial tactical menu was cool so yeah. Designs for armors should also be redesgn, warden armor, champion's armor and the ser isaac armors were beasts, so a new designs for those wouldn't be that bad for the other armors. Also, bring back tiers armor leveling up, the star levels wasn't working well. Crafting bring that back please. Ability to customize companion's armors, take them off, skin showing and yup. Open classes between rogues and warriors like in DA:O. Warriors can be dual wielder, and archers again. Rogues can use longswords again. There was alot of armors and weapons in DA:2 wasted since they're class restricted

4) Combat: carry over the tactical menu and pauses. Add spells and talents, carry and combine DA:O and DA:2's skills. Seeing lifeward as an item was kind of disappointing. It was cooler as a spell than an item. Dodging, using environmental takedown and grabbing enemies during combat should actually adds to visceral and tactical combat. spell combinations and attack combinations should come back also. And blood!

5) Exploring: big maps! Jumping! Scaling mountains! Not walking on a mountain but actually climbing it! Fast travel options. Able to ride horses.

Top 5 in my head, for now, dragons should be added, and griffons. Thanks for reading, and hopefully adding considreation. Thank you!!!

1) As numerous other people have said, story matters the most.
2) The ability to play as something other than Human. On the subject of races, please put the elf-ears back they way they looked in DAO, the ones in DA2 looked distractingly stupid. Also, an in-game explanation as to why the Qunari went from looking like ogres to looking like minotaurs would be nice, or am I supposed to imagine that Sten always looked like that!
3) The fights in DA2 got really boring. I wouldn't mind a greater variety in battles, not just being zerged by waves of enemies every single time.
4) I appreciated the attempt to improve combat mechanics in DA2, but I felt some of the effects were unrealistic - backstab is the worst culprit, changing from sneaking up on people and striking a vulnerable spot to teleporting across the screen like Nightcrawler and gishing your enemy in the face for a gazillion points of damage. Not to mention the rogue's newfound ability to spontaneously generate grenades!
5) Whilst we're on the subject of rogues, whoever told the designers they needed to be more overpowered in DA2 was having a laugh. Please make rogue's less able to deal front-line death, or at least give warriors some balance. Otherwise, why bother to have them at all.

1. Epic story. In DA:O we were taking on the darkspawn and raising an army to crush the blight (Awesome!). In DA:2 we were trying to make life work in a new city... (Not so awesome).

2. More character to companion dialog. Simple enough, I like to really get to know my companions and not have them just be walking stereotypes.

3. I'm a lore freak and DA:2 added next to nothing for lore content. Barely anything was added to the lore in DA:2 and DA:O was just bursting with lore. I mean you only added one new enemy type in DA:2, those rock elemental things in the deep roads. Thats absolutely horrendous! Every other enemy type was found in DA:O/DLC or Awakening. Shame on you Bioware.

4. A WORLD TO EXPLORE. Not just a god damned city and the countryside around it. Who honestly thought that one up?

5. Customization. This is something I've been preaching to Bioware since the early days of Mass Effect 1. Don't ever ever ever forget that people want to play an RPG (And don't give me that crap that customization and phat loot and lots of skins blah blah blah don't make an RPG. That horseshhhheit). More armor, companion armoring options, more weapons, better looking inventory and weapons system, more options to customize combat roles, more leveling options with deeper content, more ability layouts in combat so I don't have to pause to perform every action for every companion, more more more more.

You set the bar high for DA:O, really high and DA:2 could'nt even get his hands up high enough to reach that bar for a pull-up. If you don't make DA:3 closer towards DA:O than DA:2 then clearly you've had your eyes closed and ears plugged tight since DA:2 came out.

1. Tactical combat with pause and where you can que your action without having to controll the main character all the time (Like DA:O)

2. Returning characters (as many as possible. Even if only a cameo)

3. An Arling al'a Amaranthine where you can govern the people and make tough decisions and judge criminals.

4. Choices and consequences that we get to se from all 3 games and Awakening.

5. A chance to find out what happened to Hawke by playing the game, NOT just by reading an ingame book. (And the Warden, if possible. But Hawke is a must because we never got to finnish his story)

There are also a lot of storylines hinted about in the games (especially DA:O) that I would like to se more of but this is hopefully not the last game in the series so it's not a must in this game. But some hints, especially about the ancient horror that attacked the elves and humans in the Brecilian Forest long ago and where hinted returning, would be great. :)

I would like to have a Trophy Wall. Where I could display the shields and swords; or battle axe/wands...Whatever of particular enemies I defeated. Like the sword and shield of that Baron Turnip guy from MotA.

I'd luv to have his sword/shield on my wall. But in general just particular lil "trophies" from sum choice enemies. Even a skull of sum beastie. I wanna put it on display.

Then I could stand back and look over my collection...

1. An interesting and coherent story. DA2's started off ok and then went to turd after the first act. The third act was actually getting into Plan 9 From Outer Space territory. I'm replaying DA:O at the moment and I'd forgotten what a marvellous fantasy yarn it is. Moar Origins, less II.

2. A fantasy world to explore. Again, DA:O did this extremely well - mountains, forests, crypts, dreamworlds, the lot. DA2's recycled dungeons and super-bland generic city was probably one of the worst examples of an RPG environment.

3. Keep the Force Mage, and bring back Battlemage and Arcane Warrior. One of the few things that DA2 actually did right was the Force Mage, but for reasons unknown, they cut out two of the best Specialisations in DA:O and DA:A.

4. Likeable characters. Hawke ended up sounding like an idiot for a lot of the game. Come on Bioware, we know this type of thing is your forte. Don't even get me started on Carver.

5. Choices. In DA:O I found myself having to whether to bargain with demons for knowledge, whether to install a competent but untrustworthy man as ruler of Orzammar over a good-hearted but unfit leader, whether to aid an old and bitter elf in his vengeance..... and in DA2, no matter what I did, everyone went mad and mutated into giant monsters. Come on.

1. Complex, evolving, engaging characters--both my PC (IE, the ability to really flesh them out) and companions--and, well, even NPCs. Good characters are what I love about the series, and what makes DA2 still really fun for me despite the flaws. (As a side note, I actually loved having a voiced protagonist, although I'd be OK with a silent protag again. Disappointed, but OK with it.)

2. A great story with a lot of choices that aren't clear black-and-white.

3. Customization, both in terms of looks (great character creation, armor, etc) and in terms of fun branching trees for skills and classes. (I actually really liked how both DA2 and ME3 did the skill trees. DA:O was also good. ME2 was pretty poor in this department, however.)

4. Beautiful worlds with a great sense of atmosphere, and lots of great world building. (Although Dragon Age has always been good with world building, so I'm not too concerned there--but I think the game locations had more of a sense of atmosphere and culture in Origins than in DA2. Maybe because there were less locations to go to in general.)

5. I know this is vague, but a sense of discovery and ownership of your game. I love it when me and a friend can play a game and have two different experiences with it, and to where you're compelled to tell people stories about playing the game. I think the most recent game that evoked this in me was The Walking Dead--it may have just been illusion of choice, but very few games had stories that engaged me to THAT degree, and I think the excellent way the choices were written into the game helped a ton.

1)PLAYABLE Races(Kossind, Elf) and PLAYABLE Origins..but the races in the priority

..and having a good or evil(not a pretty face assasins/criminals sl*ts with HIV like Isalella/Lelianna)...nice female(males for females playing female protag) LI of Kossind, Dwarven, Elven race...especially i wanted a tevinter/dalish side mage LI

2)Opportunity to destroing Chantry(enslave or destroyTemplars) and conquer Orlay, Nevarra by Tevinter Empire(and the opportunity to be on his side)....and opportunity to restore Dalish powers/lands, and Dwarven Holds with Golem Forge

3)ability to be a REAL, POWERFULL Battle/Blood Mage

4)ability to have our own Castle/City/Kingdom with our own loyal army of our own loyal Kosinds/Elves/Humans/Dwarves/Darkspawns/Deamons...with same regalies, and ability to making political games/intrigue

and i would like to have ability to make something like a "Royal Dynasty"(making a family/childrens with our LI) and that this had some influence

5)exploring the Thedas, ancient ruins/forests/mountains, Deep roads...and see different countries, and to participate in the war against the Qunari, Orlais and Chantry/Templars

Dragon Age Origins was intense because the threat of destruction by Foozle - google it - known in this game as as the Archdemon - while on the run from Loghain's forces made for an epic and very satisfying conclusion.

Dragon Age 2 was also a kill foozle game but it didn't have a Foozle - no archdemon, not even a Loghain - which is why it was unsatisfying as a story

Having said that, what I want to see from DA3:

1) A compelling story with an antagonist that you desperately want to kill. That you cannot wait to kill. That you are willing to move heaven and earth to kill. An enemy like the Archdemon that you know HAS to die or like Loghain who pits himself as your barrier to saving the world.

2) Multiplayer using the Mass Effect 3 model as a template (4 person squads, objectives, co-op only etc..)

3) The ability to play as the Mages as protagonist OR the Templars as protagonists. Two completely different mission sets, different outcomes based on choices

4) Custom Armor sets like DA1, get rid of "character based items" from DA2. That was awful

5) Return to the DA1 style of combat (turn based) rather than button mashing from DA2

 1. Greater focus on character customization.
This entails both mechanical and story/flavour facets of the game:
  • An improved attribute system, maybe one similar to Fallout's SPECIAL.
  • "Realistic" requirements for weapons and armour (i.e. no Cunning requirement to wear a cap.)
  • Sidegrades for skills, sort of like ME2 (and 3? I haven't played it.)  does it with the final upgrade for abilities where you have to choose between two different upgrades.
  • A clearer image of what my character is going to say, i.e. either better paraphrasing or showing the full lines.
2. A great story with choices and consequences.
I don't really care what the plot is, as long as I feel that the choices my character makes result in meaningful events, though hopefully not always easily expected ones. The fewer obviously best choices, the better.

3. Better combat.
I haven't really enjoyed combat in either Dragon Age game; DA:O's was too clunky and slow, while DA2's felt too unpolished and suffered from HP-bloat and the overused waves.

4. Improved animations and artstyle
Again something I didn't really like in either game. DA:O's artstyle was terribly bland and generic, and while DA2's was a bit better, it also suffered from Oversized-pauldrons-and-weapons Syndrome. The fighting animations where bad in both games, DA:O's too slow, and DA2's too fast, and in both you were flailing your weapons around like an idiot.

5. Consistency between gameplay and lore
Stuff like how Demons are supposed to be these monstrous and horrifying creatures, but my Warden/Hawke still slays hundreds of them during their adventure. All the little details that makes the game internally consistent.
