I don't necessarily disagree, but a game doesn't need to be 80+ hours to be worth the full retail price, Shadow of the Colossus was maybe fifteen hours, tops. Worth every damn penny. Quality is what I want to see out of DA:I, regardless of the length of the game.kww75 wrote...

I take my time when I play games. Origins took me 80 hours. But a game doesn't need to be 80 hours to be worth full retail price, is all I'm saying. Origins would have been worth it at 40 hours, 20 hours, whatever. Because it was a great experience.Johnny Shepard wrote...

Much like Shadow of the Colossus or Beyond Good and Evil, or Jade Empire, all games that you can complete in under 20 hours, even if you take your time.
I would prefer the game be amazing over the game being long just for the sake of being long. If BioWare can achieve both(something they've done before) then that would just be icing on the cake.
TL;DR quality over quantity for Dragon Age Inquisition.

5. Consistency between gameplay and lore
[/b]Stuff like how Demons are supposed to be these monstrous and horrifying creatures, but my Warden/Hawke still slays hundreds of them during their adventure. All the little details that makes the game internally consistent.
Yes and no.
Being monstrous and horrifying doesn't necessarily mean that every encounter with them has to take x amount of time and most be at least Y difficult - at the end of the day they intoduced the concept of varying types of Demon for a very good reason, so that had a diverse array of enemies.
I take your point on consistency, though - while I'm willing to overlook some deviation, flat contradictions just cause the game to come across as shoddy. When the codex specifically states teleportation is impossible, it looks a bit ridiculous when any two-bit apostate and his dog can do it. When Massive Plate Armour is so heavy you need to built like King Leonidas just to move around in it, it shouldn't be worn by sky-diving henchman. When I'm throwing lightning bolts and fireballs all over the street dealing with bandits, I shouldn't be calmly approached by an unassuming Templar asking whether I've seen any apostates.

1. Different Races/Backgrounds. The single background from DA2 made for a better character, but it wasn't my character.... I would gladly sacrifice voice acting for this.
2. Tactical combat. DAO was great. It was set up (most of the time) where you could see all of the enemies in an area and plan accordingly. DA2 you see 5 guys, kill them, and then 6 more would pop out of nowhere.... You dont have to make it exactly like DAO, just dont make it like DA2....
3. No multiplayer. Just jump off the band wagon before its too late.... If you want people to keep playing the game, make it have replay value with branching story, customization, and well crafted DLC.... Contrary to popular belief, not every game needs a multiplayer.
4. Choices and Consequences. Get rid of the color coded morality choice system so that we can decide what is good and bad.... then make those choices mean something. Neither game has been particularly good at this. DAO had a better choice system and the consequences were there, but limited mostly to who your final army was.... DA2 added the color morality system, but it felt like the choices had bigger implications....
5. With all of the previous points... Go BIG or go home.... Dont hedge your bets, dont hold back. Give us everything you got. I can forgive a game for being subpar if I see that they stuck to their guns and gave me everything they said and more. What make a game truly bad to me is when I see that the developers had good ideas, but neglected them because they though people might not like them.

- No milking the name this time
- More customization
And probably the most important right after Story is --- Give us a damn toolset this time. At least that way if god forbid the game ends up as bad as DA2 was, we can fix it ourselves to a degree.

Keep the Dragon Age lore. I felt as if DA2 was a step in the direction of Mass Effect. Why? I didn't think that was necessary. Can't Dragon Age just be it's own game series? I'm not saying Dragon Age 2 was a mirror image of Mass Effect because it wasn't but it certainly didn't evole from it's predecessor, Origins. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Mass Effect series (it's one of my favourite game series out there) but I felt that as the series progressed, it became more linear. Now, Dragon Age Origins was anything but linear. There was side quest after side quest and it was a fantastic RPG. I felt as if DA2 lost some of that. Dragon Age 2 is a good game. Good. Although, in my opinion, it wasn't the calibre of Origins. Go back over the last two games and focus on what you did really well.
Character development. The characters in Origins were superb. They developed over the course of the game and I came to genuinely care for them. The banter that occurred on quests was fantastic and the humour between characters was great. I really got to see how characters felt about each other, not just how they felt about me. Everything about characters in Origins was just dealt with fantastically. Now, it probably sounds like I'm absolutely ripping on Dragon Age 2, I'm not but trust me, this will all have meaning soon. I'm not saying that the characters in DA2 were crap, they weren't. But they just lacked the same...enthusiasm as the characters in Origins. They tended to annoy me and it wasn't the sort of annoyance that was humourous; it was the annoyance that severely bugged you. Make the characters in DA3 mean something. Spend quality time on their writing because they are the people that we have to 'put up with' throughout the game. If you can't bond to any of the characters, it dampens the experience for you.
Choices. Make them mean something. Now, this is an important one. If you're going to say that a game is heavily based on choice, make sure it actually is before you say that. I want to say after making a choice in DA3, 'wow, that was brutal'. I don't want to think 'What was the point of that if it didn't make any difference on the outcome of the game?' Here I go again with the comparison. In Mass Effect 2 when you have to choose to destroy the Collector Base or keep the information, it made absolutely no difference in Mass Effect 3. Seriously? In an RPG, every person should have a different experience. Maybe some people have a similar experience with some variations but it shouldn't be identical. I want my choices to actually matter. You know what game handled choice well? The Walking Dead. Yes, it's a completely different game than Dragon Age but damn, it did choice well. After many choices, I was brought to tears and genuinely questioned my morals. I thought that some of the choices were brutal and even though some of them were harsh, they mattered. So basically, make the choices in DA3 matter. Fair enough if it doesn't tie up all of the loose ends in Origins and DA2 but make the choices that I have to make in DA3 mean something.
Quality of the story. Games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect are heavily based on the quality of the story and the characters. It's what Bioware is known for. But in DA2, the story didn't draw me in. In Origins, you were facing the archdemon. The head of all of the darkpawn, the thing that only Grey Wardens can kill. You as the main character are pivotal to the story. Without you or any of the other Grey Wardens, Ferelden would be doomed. I mattered, my character mattered. But in DA2, the bad guy just wasn't as epic. The storyline just wasn't as captivating. Again, that's my opinion. Yes, the combat in DA2 was vastly improved. It was quicker and more fluid and that's great! But if at the cost of that, the storyline loses itself, I honestly don't think it's worth it. The combat in Origins wasn't perfect but it wasn't horrible and the story was brilliant. The combat in DA2 was vastly improved but the story and characters were mediocre compared to Origins. So yes, make the combat in DA3: Inquisitions great if possible but don't forget about the storyline and the characters. They're what makes the game memorable.
One last thing. Co-op. I've heard people asking for it but in my opinion, Dragon Age really doesn't need it. Yes, it was a nice add-on in Mass Effect 3 but was it necessary? Definitely not. Don't focus on Co-op in Inquisition, focus on the game itself and don't rush the game. I would gladly wait another six months or even more for a fantastic, memorable game.
Well, that's my five cents.

4- Loved the animated Hero, I loved when my char could actually TALK and was given a voice, instead of giving the same looks over and over. I wish I could choose the race thou...

2. A more "grey" storyline just like ME 2 and 3.(The fairytale like "be a hero and save the..." storline got old and feels unreal. Please design more Loghain like NPC's and more Fallout New Vegas like factions... Templar vs Mage didn't really hold my interest even in DA:O yet you concentrated on that even more in sequel. Templars are old school guys that love to control people while mages are revolutionarists... I mean you created so many wonderful and secretive characters like illusive man, bastila, revan, leliana, morrigan and is this best you can do? I disagree)
3. Lots of customisation and mod support(From races to places, quests to endings, character creation to character abilities...)
4. Combat system that makes sense unlike DA 2 and isn't as dull as DA:O(Storm of the century anyone? -.-)
5. Jennifer Hale as female PC voice actress.

1. Some returning characters as companions.
I'm not requesting that EVERYONE who was once in a DA game must come back as a companion. Having said that I feel like there are a few characters who have seen some things that would make for interesting companions. Cullen, who has witnessed first hand the Uldred revolt and the mess that was the Kirkwall Gallows, would definitely have some interesting things to say to an Inquisitor. Another possibilty would be one or more of the characters from Asunder, the mage Rhys, the rebel templar Evangeline or the spirit/demon/thing Cole because they were there when the mage rebellion really began. (I'd also like to see Tevinter-trained Feynriel as a companion but there's the potential for him to be Tranquil/posessed so I'd rather not open that particular can of worms...). Cameos are cool too.
2. Specializations matter.
Let us say that I am playing a character who is a blood mage or a reaver or an assassin. Blood magic is (heavily) frowned upon in most of Thedas, and is a reason for a Templar to kill a mage, so I'd like for this to be brought up somehow, maybe by being confronted by Templars or having a companion mention it. A reaver had to drink ritually prepared dragon blood. Maybe a companion can bring this up in conversation 'Wasn't that gross?' The assassins are supposed to be masters of spotting vulnerabilities. So maybe in a conversation where my character is being challenged by goons I can have the option to point out that 'I can take you all down single handed and this is exactly how I would do it' and have them run away instead of a fight. Implementing this will likely mean that we can only choose one specialization per character and I'm ok with that.
3. Weapon use that matches the animation/description.
Right, so this is a fairly minor thing, but it's something that happens in both DA:O and DA2 and I always found it a bit...odd.
In both games the character can use a weapon, that when a particular animation is triggered, does something kind of...nonsensical. Examples include: the backstabbing/Ogre-face stabbing animation with a mace in Origins or the Twin Fangs/Assassinate animations using weapons like Berat's Revenge/Jarvia's Shank or the Hawke's Key in 2. In both cases you have a character making a stabbing motion with what is a blunt-tipped weapon. It just looks weird. The animations were pretty awesome looking and I like the variety of unique dagger looks in DA2 , with daggers like Finesse, the Coterie Shiv and Shard of the Fallen along with the standard skins, but I'd like that the way the weapon looks fit the way the weapon was used.
In the same way, warriors in DA2 can carry 2-handed weapons but if you watch the animations for Carver, Fenris or Hawke, part of the animation of a standard hit has them use their massive 2-handed weapon with...one hand. Which again, strikes me as weird looking.
So I guess this is just a request to polish weapon animations.
4. Fetch quests that feel like sidequests.
I don't object to fetch quests, however I feel that there is a way that they can be done well and there is a way that they can be done less well. Well done examples from DA:O and DA2 include: the Chanter's board/ Merchant's guild type quests, in which you go to a quest board, find a quest that says 'we want x many of this thing', or 'so and so wants his thing which was stolen back' and you go and collect the things and return it for coin. I like these because a) you know who wants the thing and
5. Useful Companion Gifts.
Note that this only applies to the friendship path.
Something I liked about the implementation of gifts in DA2 was that they were rare and clearly only for one individual, like the Shield of the Knight Herself, the Blade of Mercy or the Rivaini Fertility Talismen. However, unlike the Shield for Aveline, which is a useful mid-game item, by the time you are even able to acquire either the Blade of Mercy for Fenris or the Talismen for Isabela, they are going to be outclassed by the items these characters already have equipped, which I found to be disappointing. So I'd like for the companion gifts to be useful to the characters. I don't mind if eventually I come across a more useful item for my companions, but I'd like if they are able to use the gifts for a time.

2. Male harems
3. the Hokey Pokey
4. zombie kittens
5. peanuts (along with an option to say, "anybody want a peanut"?)
Just having a little fun. I'm always late to the party and I fear the devs probably aren't checking this thread anymore, but in case they are, I guess I should be serious. What I *really* would like to see in DAO3 is:
1. Better relationships with friends and lovers. DAO was a step in the right direction but DA2 took a step back. I had wanted Mass Effect to take lessons from DA but it seemed that worked in reverse. I do give props to DA2 for finally realizing that the protagonist needs a little love through the rough spots (the Mom issue), though it really was a little love...it was still there. Nice touch. But you spend a good deal of time with these people. It would be nice to get to know them deeply - more like we did in DAO. I'd like to give comfort and receive it, poke fun and receive it, and ask about feelings and deep issues and be asked in return.
2. Spontaneous talks in different locations. I absolutely HATE having to have talks in one spot. Though it's irritating to get surprised with a conversation and not be able to save before-hand, I much prefer that to the always predictable, immersion breaking "oh, I want to talk to so-and-so - quick! Let's run to THE spot!" Blech. When I want to talk to my friends, we don't drop what we're doing and run to their house to talk about it. Please let's be more flexible in #3.
3. Fun with LIs. All work and no play makes PC a dull girl. DAO had a cute little thing where you could catch a smooch on the run or a little more in the camp. DA2 cut out the extra-curricular activities. BIG bummer. I'd like to see it return and have it mixed up a bit by adding a few different options (for on the go as well as in the camp/home). And if you run into a Fenris situation, there is still so much that could be done with that. Talk about your angsty exchanges! The possibilities! I mean, really, we're wading in death and the threat of destruction...hanky panky is a great diversion and stress buster. Just sayin.
4. Home is where the heart is. Thank you DA2 for giving me a place to call home and store those things that I just can't bear to throw away or sell. Now, in the way of Skyrim, could you give me some trophy racks/display cases to show off some of them? I wouldn't complain if you let me decorate my whole house from furnishings to carpeting, but I'd be happy with the aforementioned racks and cases. Oh, and I liked the change of clothing idea (at your house in DA2), but in DA3, could it be a little more sexy? A little more form fitting and a slight show of cleavage would be nice. I'm regularly thumping bad guys and my figure will never be this hawt again, ya know. May as well show it off while I can.
5. A DAO type of epilogue (but with the option for a truly happy ending if I play my cards right). What can I say? I like puppies and rainbows. You fight death and terrible things the whole game so you can have a happy ending. Real life can suck enough and I don't care if the game can have a sucky or wishy-washy ending, so long as I can have the Fairy Princess one. I quite liked the ending of DAO with Alistair and the female noble, though I'd like to lose the whole "catch" thing. Seriously lose it. And I loved talking to all of my companions after the ending in DAO. That was the first time I'd been able to do that in a game and it was just AWESOME. I was so sad that didn't happen in #2. Please, please bring it back in #3!
And if you could still throw in male harems, that would be just peachy. Thanks.
Oh, and I mean male harems for the protagonist (I play as a female, so definitely for the female protagonist). I can just see the evil devs and writers now, wringing their hands and cackling fiendishly as they grant my wish.....for npcs and male protagonists. Then when I post here in anger they would widen their eyes innocently and post back "but n2nw, you didn't say for the female pc. We put male harems in everywhere just to please you and you still aren't happy. You're so mean to us and all we did was what you asked!" Yeah, I know how they are. So here it is writing. So there.

2)if not playable races, half breed PC.(still better playable races)
3)Elf and Dwarf. Elf and Dwarf. I'm tired of Mage Templar. is a fantasy setting, we have already explored that part too much in DA2. there are better thing to see. like a conquist of a new land for the Dalish, or new thaig in the Deep Roads who survived at the Darkspawn. or the Kossith. as PC and for the story. an actual invasion of the Qun would be great.
4)Gray Warden.
5)destroy once and for all the Chantry if there isn't a recognization af the Elf in the Chant of Light. Elf deserve better.

2) Customization: jumping on the bandwagon here. Give us actual variation over which armour we equip, much in the style of DA:O... no more set outfits for your companions either. Skill trees. Bring back the pick-a-race feature.
3) Choices that matter: please, please at least allow our choices from this game to interconnect with and impact the narrative in a manner that is both unexpected but engaging. More grey areas!! No more of this "Good Dialogue option" "Bad Dialogue option" nonsense. Also put in character relevant interactions, much like how in DA:O if Leliana or Wynne is on your team and you defile the urn of sacred ashes they attack you.
4) Quality Storytelling: bring back the calibre of DA:O the oringinal game that people loved. Stop trying to be more like Mass Effect. Listen to the fans! We want an RPG not a hack n slash. Make the storyline a long one! With heaps of diverse and interesting side quests (no more fetch missions). Also include more party banter. Try not to rehash any of your maps as well, it became appaulingly obvious in DA:2. (I'm not trying to bash on the game! Just want you to - like nearly all fans - return to your roots is all!)
5) No mulitplayer: There is a very, very, very good reason ME:1, ME:2 and DA:O stood on their own legs without multiplayer and were still critically acclaimed. We want the quality of our games back. Not additional features that were never important beforehand. Get off this bandwagon. Games do not require multiplayer!!

DAO was and is a fantastic game for modders, I can't even count the numbers of mods I apply to my DAO games, with different sets of mods for different characters (due to modmanager) and all.
And this is what's keeping the game alive for me and for a lot of others.
Heck, the same can even still be sad about Baldur's Gate I and II.
Sadly Awakenings already veered from this path and DA 2 was no different. Reducing modding to basically just changing visual aspects of the game (which is fine in itself, but could be so much more).
If you want another epic milestone in BW history, make DA3 easy to mod again, it will keep the game interesting and make it easier to sell in the future and is also a motivation for buying DLC's.
Never underestimate the positive effects if the gamers can fix problems for themselves or change their game to fit their personal preferences.

2 Different Elves - those i DA were butt ugly.
3 No dialogue wheel - but I guess this is a lost case at this point. So If were stuck with this i'd like more dialogue controll.
4 Companion armor changes. This worked well in DA1. DA2 idea was bad.
5 Make the characters background significant! Make people remark and comment on this. Make them treat you differently if you're nobility or if you're a renegade slave from Tevinter. This has a lot of great potential.
