All my MP friends were randoms at one time. I like a mix of both. Friends for chatting and randoms for the surprise factor. Nothing is as fun for me as playing a few rounds with a great random and then friending them afterwards.

It might be nice if we had the option of reserving two private spots in a lobby and then have the other 2 be public. That way if my friend or I drop out due to connection issues we can still rejoin the same game, whereas if the randoms ragequit they can be replaced by more randoms.

I only host public lobbies so I can get random groups together. With friends the game becomes too easy as its more of a 'use friend tactic number one dash five' or something silly like that.

With randoms, I have to formulate how to play based on the group that joins my match mid round. If I've been an aggressive krogan soldier meleeing ALL the things, and then a group of less durable characters joins my match I'll pull back on my pushing and focus on defending them more.

Almost always public. None of my real friends play this game, and the few ME3 exclusive friends that I have don't know each other, so If I do play with a friend, it's just one of them.

Constructive criticism: The friend invite system (PS3) is lousy. It could infinitely be better if I knew my friends current status, like "FriendA is playing single player campaign" or "FriendB is currently playing Wave 8 of a Gold match." If I know if they are playing Wave 2 of a Platinum match, I'll know to not bother sending them an invite.

I like both! Equal mix of PUG's and games with friends.

It's like you're in my head. I feel exactly the same way.

Regulars, unless they're too chicken to play gold. I have 3 friends that I play with... even if we dont have 4 people we'll try and manage with 2-3 players.

I enjoy playing with PUGS for the challenge. Playing with friends makes the game repetitive, boring, and easy but If someone invites, sure why not?

I usually play randoms 95% of the time. Playing with Unknown against Unknown is more of a challenge for me.

30% friends, 40% random, 10% solo

It all has its place.

If I could solo more consistently would probably do that more, admittedly. Playing with friends is nice, though will start to feel harassed if I get bombarded with messages as soon as I log on too many days in a row. Playing with randoms can also be fun just for the sheer wtfery that can happen, though running into annoying people is just a given. Last time I played I actually decided to turn off the console because didn't want to deal with yet another potential game of annoying players anymore.

I CAN'T PLAY WITH FRIENDS after 2 last origin updates.

So it's 100% random.

I prefer a mix of both. I usually play with two friends and one random. But frequently its half and half. Great way to meet new players.

When I do have 4 friends we usually do crazy/themed matches, Turians using only concussive shot, all Asari, Vanguard charge fest etc

I usually play 50/50. If there is a friend who invites me then I join, but I always finish my current game first.

I prefer playing with my friends, but the thing is? I met most of the people I play with on ME3 multiplayer by playing random games.

I play with randoms plenty, because sometimes, friends aren't online or they're busy or playing something else. If I want to play multiplayer, I'll play it, whoever I play with. So I guess I play with a mix.

80% random
20% friends-who-were-discovered-on-random-lobbies-because-the-only-friend-i-know-has-moved-on-to-other-games

but, I'd like it if the percentages were the other way around -___-

I jump ship rather than finish the game if I get an invite... if it had been a bad day with randoms -____-

What kind of a question is that?
Do you like pain or pleasure? I'd take pleasure. Otherwise I guess if I dont have a choice.

Give us matchmaking options.

Hey Folks,

I wonder how many of you prefer the comradarie of a few regular indiviuals to play MP with, or do you prefer the randomness of drop in lobbies?

Alternatively, how much of a mix of the above do you have in your MP play?

Cheers

I prefer random lobbies for one reason only: it takes forever to group friends up. It's a ridiculous nuisance to be kicked out of the multiplayer hub, have to relog into the EA servers, choose a class, then get queued into a lobby with friends.

If forming parties were streamlined, I would prefer running with friends.

I like playing randoms, but playing with friends is nice but winning all the time can get plain.

I usually end up with randoms.

This isn't so much a choice as it is fate. The friends options don't allow for instant joins if they're in other games or existing MP matches. So the system itself is pretty self-defeating. (Not that I encourage the idea of allowing people to quit out, but it illustrates how the system isn't working as intended.)
