I actually don't know anyone who plays ME3 so I am forced to go into PUGs, but I don't mind it. Sometimes they are awful but I don't really mind- sometimes I even feel good about myself if I feel like I'm helping people who need it get credits, lol.

I definitely prefer my friends, whenever possible. Sometimes to the extent that I'll get off and go do something else if no one else is on.

It's more fun to talk to friends, to have the opportunity to try out silly builds with no pressure of carrying, to not have to worry about abusive messages, to reference in-jokes about the Drell Vanguard, etc. Also it's just too easy for a bad team to cause things to go pear shaped and I don't see carrying a team as an exciting challenge most of the time, but more as a tedious bore. Equipment usage is also highly susceptible to the free-rider problem.

Random pugs. I have almost never intentionally played with the same people twice. It's important for those with some experience to show newer players better ways to play at every level. It's also fun to watch the odd things people will do!

Hey Folks,

I wonder how many of you prefer the comradarie of a few regular indiviuals to play MP with, or do you prefer the randomness of drop in lobbies?

Alternatively, how much of a mix of the above do you have in your MP play?

Cheers

I fill up a lobby with friends, but if friends don't fill the list, I open it up as public.
So, probably with at least 1 random 75% of the time, and all randoms 1/4 of that.

I pretty much exclusively play with regulars now. The group I play with are quite skilled, which makes for a better chance of winning, but the best thing about them is they all have a sense of humor. It's not uncommon that I end up doing something stupid and dying, simply because I'm too distracted by the hilarity of whatever conversation is going on during the match.

Or the conversation AND action times, like myself soloing 85% of wave 10 on gold dagger reapers with a Batarian Sentinel and then with one brute left getting that dare to falcon punch him... ... ... ... And then we were all still laughing when we returned to lobby and that one random tried to kick me, which only made us laugh more. Good times. Good times with regulars and friends.

And let's not forget about the open slot.

My connection has become too unstable for pugs - I hate being dropped in Wave 10 or 11 and losing everything due to the (awful) way EA runs their servers. Made more difficult in that the game just says 'left the mission' so others don't know if I died and left because I got dropped, or died and then left because I rage-quit. (Pro-tip: I never rage quit. More likely to get even than get pouty.)

So, I play only with friends, or solo. Not by choice, because I used to use pugs as a way to make NEW friends. The friends I play with also have their own regular characters and playstyles - I may not be able to talk in Teamspeak with randoms, but (providing I'm hosting and not dealing with a range of pings) I found them fun because I got to play with all sorts of different characters and styles.

Now I only do so through the 'friend of a friend' system, which has much less scope, especially since those people already have to synergise with my current friends' preferences.

I only play random. The variety you get in team mates makes for an exciting / frustrating / funny / mind blowing time. It's seldom dull. Heck, I love it when a first game player drops his N1 L1 human soldier into silver... you get kinda protective, ya know?

For the most part I play with my partner in crime Lennox007, two Justicars taking out the trash!
But since he is the only friend who plays this game we open the lobby for two randoms.

We sometimes feel like the panel in americas got talent, and if we don't like what we see, you'll get the big ol' X.. So sorry to anyone who has been kicked from my lobbies, it's not you, it's me :)

I prefer to play with friends (contacted via Origin). I played with them in the most of the time (99%).
Playing with randoms = network latency issues, no team game, no tactics, people runs ahead and dies because they want to collect scores... not so fun.

Sadly most of my friends don't play ME MP for a while, our team is falling apart. :(

I enjoy both, but I've found the PC random community to be pretty decent, if...totally silent. Perhaps that's for the best. I end up randoming a lot, right now.

The half of my friends don't seem to play any more, while the other half is on-line few hours per day. So, I really would like to play only with friends but I'm forced to play public games. Most of the time this is a frustrating experience.

I started off with random groups, but over time your friend list increases, especially if you communicate with people and you had a good match. So now, I usually don't play with randoms anymore, only if there's a spot left to fill. Once in a while I'll do a silver match with all randoms, but it usually ends badly, so I prefer playing with regulars.

I've made a whole lot of acquaintances through ME3 Multi and usually play with them if anyone is on. Otherwise, I'll hit up the public lobbies.

Technical pov: from bronze to gold random is as good as friends...in platinum friends only...it's almost impossible to find good random teammates
Fun pov: friends.

I'm fine with both ;] Regulars = higher chance of winning, Randoms = higher chance of witnessing something funny. xD
