Hey Folks,
I wonder how many of you prefer the comradarie of a few regular indiviuals to play MP with, or do you prefer the randomness of drop in lobbies?
Alternatively, how much of a mix of the above do you have in your MP play?
Cheers
You wouldn't believe the stunts some of the randoms sometimes perform in a game.
Not participating in a Hack or in a Drone Escort is only some of the minor stuff that makes you wonder.
I only play with randoms if really NOBODY of my friends is online or their lobbies are already completely full.

But, random is still my preferred mode of playing. It is awesome to see the teamwork between stangers... There was this one time where everyone but me had a mic, and they communicated... It gave me fuzzies to hear them communicate... I almost wanted to plug in my mic to join in, but I was lazy... Ah, memories...

Playing with Randoms makes me a better player because I know I need to consider my environment and the enemies a bit more (since I don't know what the skill level of the randoms is going to be.
Each experience is very different (randoms vs friends) so I've come to value them both.

So I'm only playing with randoms and so far I enjoy it. The unpredictability adds a little thrill to the games, the same way you always stay too close to a banshee just for excitement.

Pretty much this. Teamwork and camaraderie between total strangers is great to see. A nice change up from almost every competitive multiplayer out there. I play Bronze and Silver and most of the matches I've play are totally silent but even then there is that fun and appreciation in the unspoken, mutual understanding that we help each other. There have been some bad matches but the vast majority are good fun.
I have barely enough friends playing this game to make a 4 man squad and that is assuming we can all get on together. Although, if I did have a regular team of friends that liked to switch up classes, playstyles, tactics, etc. I think I would have just as much fun as in the PUGs.

always random PUGs, i dont have any xbox friends *insert forever alone meme jpg here*
I've added two whom I had a gold match with but we're never playing me3 at same time. I just added two guys yesterday, let's see if we invite each other to matches, Would prob help if i had a mic that worked.
funnily enough, one of them tried adding me to a game last night, but i was mid wave 1 of a game and didnt want to abandon the PUGs. i tried adding him to a game later but he was prob busy by then. so i guess a reunion was not meant to be

I like playing with randoms though, as their class/playstyle/skill are (you guessed it) random, which can be interesting, though most people don't use mics (xbox) you still get teamwork.
But even if you appear to be in a good group, it completely disbands almost every single time after a match, which is a bit strange as it'd take longer to load back to menu and try find another. I can use my hands to count the number of groups that have stuck together for 3 or more games, and I've played MP since about 2 weeks from release.
But it doesn't beat playing with a good friend, as they're not out to prove a point and top the scoreboard but there to work WITH you, and you also get to laugh/joke in a way you don't get to with randoms

My closest friends, the people I play with most often, were all randoms I met in PUGs.

Randoms for trying to find new friends, and well friends for fun.
It just bugs me that I'll be disconnected on wave 10 with randoms, then I cant get back in.

Seriously, I had some folks I ran matches with and they are the best to do nice Gold runs. I also like to stick with buddies and save their asses.
But I really like random groups, too. Anything can happen there.

Nowadays, usually one of my kids/a friend and I with two randoms, or with more Origin friends and less/no randoms. For the first few months I couldn't host, so it was learning the ropes in PUGs, and I still enjoy doing that (except that I now host) when I'm in a Bronze mood.Derek Hollan wrote...
