People would probably roll their eyes at me but not be angry enough to kick me.

I am an average player.  I mostly play silver and bronze.  I only occasionally play gold and, in the rare moments I am feeling particularly insane, pychotic, or experiencing delusions of adequacy, will I participate in Platinum.

Probably why I don't random too much. Image IPB

Playing with people on my friends list is much more fun! I play with randoms as well, but its not the same. Different experiences but they both have their pros and cons. Regardless, we will lose a lot of both because everyone who plays this game appearently plays borderlands 2 as well -_-

Mostly randoms, but whenever I have people from my friend list online I try to join/host a group.
Why do you ask? Are you planning to nerf PUGs? Or perhaps buff them?

Hey Folks,

I wonder how many of you prefer the comradarie of a few regular indiviuals to play MP with, or do you prefer the randomness of drop in lobbies?

Alternatively, how much of a mix of the above do you have in your MP play?

Cheers

Largely depends on my mood and if my buddies are online at the time.

I'd say I am at a 75% / 25% standing, where 75% of my sessions are in private rooms with friends and 25% is random public lobbies.

I prefer to play with folks on my friends list. That way we can at least communicate. But if no one is on I will dive in to play with randoms. I enjoy playing with randoms because it makes me feel very good to be #1 top scorer lol. When I play with my friends I am often last, which sucks :(

Randoms make me feel very good about myself.  Still, I'd much rather play with my homies if they are around

I like playing with Randoms and Friends equally and for different purposes.

If i want to increase my chances of winning greatly, i'll play with friends.

If i wanna meet new people and give myself a challenge i'll play with Randoms.

I've added two whom I had a gold match with but we're never playing me3 at same time. I just added two guys yesterday, let's see if we invite each other to matches, Would prob help if i had a mic that worked.

I prefer playing with friends, got a great group and we work really well together. Also play a good number of public games due to the amount of hours I play when most people are asleep here.

I'd say the mix would be 70% friends and 30% randoms for me...

I gained a psn friend from mass effect and we've played other mp games together now! We play public together, it makes such a difference playing with someone you can trust and know their play style. It can be hard at times to join up with other players, especially when they are in a match already :(

Ah yes.  Making friends is not always easy.  Agreed.

Maybe this'll cheer you up.

Both actually. In general, I would say it's the most fun to play with people I know or have met, particularly when we're chatting.

But sometimes, I also just want to jump into a match and kill things. I find that I would rather do a random in those games, as I'm not feeling particularly social, and would rather not be a downer to anyone I'm playing with.

I play a balance of both. Friends aren't always online (UK vs USA timezone doesn't help).
Which I prefer? Well, with friends to co-ordinate with, I play Silver and occasional Gold. I'd like to have a regular Gold-standard team, TBH.
But sometimes, if I don't want to talk, I'll do a couple of Bronze PUG matches.
When a Silver PUG match goes horrible (which can still happen) I wish I had friends around...

100% with friends. I haven't played a PUG in over a month or two. I didn't mind playing PUGs at first but once you move up to Gold+ you need players you can talk to on mic to coordinate and that just doesn't happen frequently during PUGs.

I always play with some of my friends if they are available. I try to get with somebody that is not in matches yet. If everyone is busy/not-responding I will play random Gold matches. I enjoy friends more because of ( better success rate, use mics, try crazy builds, etc without having to worry about getting kicked ). When I play randoms I usually use my better classes/builds because you are not sure of the quality of your "help".

Usually a friend will start a lobby and then we will open it to randoms if we don't have a full team. Have picked up a lot of very good players that way ( also some horrible ones ).

I only have a few people on my friends list and all of them are recent adds. I don't mind random groups at all (3 of the 5 friends have come from random games). I have joined plenty of lobbies that end up staying together for 4-5 games in a row or lose a player here or there.

Although it can be frustrating at times playing with randoms is the way to go to improve your overall game play. Platinum is the only one that I must play with friends.

I have one group that I play with consisting of people who are my friends in RL. Then I have the majority of my xbox friends who friended me or I friended them because they weren't useless in a PUG and talked to me. Although, I'm usually too scared to talk to them ever again haha.

Most of my games are PUGs though.

Ideally, 1 or 2 friends plus 1 or 2 randoms ... on U/U/G it's pretty rare we fail with me plus any one of the people I play regularly with - a couple of randoms to act as decoys, erm, lord it over, erm no, help (yeah, that'll do).

I much prefer to play with friends, but there're many things in life that just make it impossible to have four people to sit down together at the same time to play video games. So playing PUGs is a necessity in real life. The main problem with PUGs is the huge variation in their quality. Most obviously there are some very very good and nice players, but what irritates a lot of players including myself is the not so good ones; and with PUGs, you just don't know what you're going to get. Like your store. It is very irritating when you get ammos.

PUGs but I do play with friends when they shoot mehs an invite. Other than that, I like playing with people I don't know. Usually, I surf until I find people with Mics.

Friends have mostly left MP, I did too for a bit. If dlc is any good they may come back, but for now I play with randoms, I've never really had problems doing so, but I prefer friends.
