Took the words right out of my mouth. This is also why I'd rather not see too many characters from DAO back in DA3, and if they are in, give them a cameo only lest they ruin those characters as well.

I'd rather not have most of them back, actually. Not because I don't like them (I do, all of them), but because I think most of them have already reached the end of a character arc and I'm happy to move on without them and meet some new faces. Also because a large amount of them could be dead. The only one I actively want to work with again is Sigrun (and I can't remember if she's killable, so she might be a no-go too). I'd be quite happy to have supporting cast members (like Cullen and Cassie) upgraded to main companions, and I'll be happy to have old main characters turn up in plot-relevant NPC roles if they live (i.e. King Alistair and OGB Morrigan, Seeker Leliana), but as companions...I'm okay not having them.

Anders/Justice will probably appear as some kind of leader of the mage rebellion. I hope we'll get to meat Shale again, maybe she managed to become a dwarf again? =P

This maybe a bit out there, but imagine bringing Hawke in as a companion. An import system is likely to be used between DA2 and DA3 as to ensure choices are carried over. Maybe in doing so, it can also determine how people played Hawke (Sarcastic, Nice etc) and use that info to adjust his character in DA3?

Probably too much work and a long shot but I'd find it interesting to have the protagonist of a previous game in the party. Failing that, I'd settle for a few cameos and maybe one of the DA2 gang as a companion.

Hmm.. I was directed here to chat about the possibility of Cullen being a companion.. but it seems this is just about past companions returning... not NPCs like Cullen. Hmm. Curious...

Well, I'll throw in my two cents anyway. He seems a natural for inclusion based on our guesses regarding the storyline, plus there are many hints he's on the radar, such as Greg Ellis's tweets. So, here's hoping.

Would be really interesting to see Justice again post-Anders. As for Anders himself... I don't know. It's a tricky one, because whilst his abomination status could allow some hand waving of his fate, I think it would cheapen the end of DA2 somewhat. And if he is optional then he won't be back in a big role like that I would imagine.

Considering Shale popped up in Asunder I would love for her to return in DA3, probably the companion I would most accept any hand waves to ignore their potential death too. Not as a companion though.

Well I really want Leliana to return. Would be nice as a companion, but I have a fealing that she and Varric(another return wish) will just go around being occasional helpers, mentors. Oh, well we have Zhevran, and Shale(as a dward please) to wish for. Also: Sten as the Arishok, Sandal as an actual companion, and an asian insired female companion, to make up for the loss of Leliana the provider of suspiciously large ammount of Fetish Fule among the team. Cullen could drop in full time, as long his first name won't turn out to be Edward. If yes, well Virmire...

I'd rather that old companions returned as important characters that aren't companions e.g. Leliana as the new Divine, Sebastian as the evil prince of Starkhaven, Morrigan doing whatever mystical magic thing she does...

I'd love to see cameos by old companions, but I don't need them to be playable. I also want to hear that my Warden popped back up. You don't even have to say what they are up to, but this abandoning their friends and love interest bothers me.

I wouldn't mind any turning up as cameos, as long as their story line reflects accurately what your PC did with them in the previous stories. I hated that Alistair didn't mention my PC at the start of DA2

I think Sten, Morrigan, Isabella, Lelianna, Anders(or)Sebastian and Varric should be back as squadmates. I say Anders(or)Sebastian because much like your decision in ME1 decides if Ashley or Kaiden are alive and available as squadmates I think your decision in the end of DA2 should decide if Sebastian or Anders are in your party for DA3. I think all other characters should be back as NPC much like Wrex was back in each ME game. I would like past characters to have a role as well as your past heroes. I would like to interact with Hawke and my Gray Warden from DA:O as if they were NPC. I would like to see Alistair and Grey Warden see eachother again and we witness them falling back in love or falling out depending on your decisions in DA:O. Also perhaps you see Sebastian storm in on Anders to kill him (who survives is in your party?). Maybe you see witness Fenris murder Merrill depending on if he was loyal to Hawke who sided with mages or not? This sort of stuff would be great, but I know bioware and they won't do it.

Morrigan is confirmed.
Leliana...the story takes place in Orlais, so she will certainly be in the game.
Sten might show up, if the quanari are involved.
Orlais does have a coastline, and since there is a civil war, I am sure Isabela could make some money of it with her ship.
Some wardens from previous games could be tossed in too.
And of course Flemeth.

How is having Anders in the game again a hand wave? That's like saying having surving Kaiden in ME3 is a handwave. It's not--it's a result of decisions made. If you decide to kill Anders than he's dead. If you decide to tell anders to leave --- he could be in your party, also if he stays to defend the mages...he could also be alive and in your party. And so 2/3 of chance is he's available as a party member depending on your decisions. I think like Ashley and Kaiden are linked in who is available, so should Sebastian and Anders be linked. You can't have both, but you will have one depending on your choices. No hand waving involved. Just progression of story. To me not including them is more hand waving then including them is.

Anders died in both Awakening AND DA2. If i see him again in DA3 i will just delete my imports, since they have no bearing on future games anyway.
