Why do you guys keep saying Anders is dead perhaps your ending you killed him...Mine anders is alive and kicking so..I protected him and told Nancy boy prince to go shove it and he alive even thou they totally ruined him...guess a spirit in you magically turns you gay..Because from all my convos in Awakening I didn't gather that at all..maybe I should of killed him he became really annoying in DA2...

But lets hope for some good companions and maybe some old ones...

I think that if you killed Anders in DA2 Justice will keep him alive in a similar wayy to Wynne's spirit

Nope. Devs confirmed he'll be dead if you killed him, alive if you didn't.

I for one would be thrilled with cameos from DA2 companions, namely Isabela and Fenris. Iffy about Beth/Carver and Anders, however. Beth and Carver would be more difficult because of customization and so many possible outcomes and I'd be scared to bump into Anders for fear of what the new engine had done to my poor Hawke's face. Unless Varric was lying about them being on the run together.

Yes. Hopefully Morrigan and Leliana for sure. I love Morrigan and I still feel she has too many open plots.

As for Leliana, her position is too important to not play a major role in DA3. Also, it's a love/hate relationship I have with her. While I like her as a character, one of my imports killed her. So you know, while I romanced her on my main PC, I have another who has unfinished business with her and wants to make sure lopping her head off this time finishes the job...

He's appalled she would turn on him so quickly. She didn't think it through at all on the desecration of the ashes. I did it for Fereldan's greater good. She immediately tried to kill me without seeing my point of view. Therefore, she's my enemy and I must finish her off. He wasn't a Chantry supporter either, so that just furthers the odds between us.

I've seen both sides of Leliana and she's quite the mystery woman. But I think I have her figured out for what she truly is. I'm hoping to see more of that character development in DA3. Maybe it will confirm what I think I know about her.

Oh yea, besides Morrigan/Leliana, I'd also like to see any of Isabella, Varric, Alistair, and Aveline return. Not all obviously, but any of those would be great as companions again.

Zevran was hiding from the Crows. Alistair was either there to see Hawke (if King), there with other Grey Wardens (if still in the Wardens), or exiled from Ferelden (if a drunk). Leliana was there because she is the Right Hand of the Divine and the Divine wanted her to investigate the Mage uprising. Sten wasn't in the Free Marches. Anders was hiding from the Wardens. Isabela was there for the reasons that are pretty heavily explained throughout Act 2.

True, their presence in Kirkwall was explained thoroughly enough in the plot, but my problem is not as much the "how" the characters found their way into the story, but an intrinsic "why." For example, Isabella's character caused me no distress; she is a roamer/free-spirit by nature, and had a meaningful place in the chaos of Kirkwall. Isabella both symbollically/literally epitomized the 'vagabound' spirit of DA: 2. Other, less-appropriate characters, were clumsily forced into the narrative. Alistair, for example, had no legitiamte reason to make an appearance in the freemarches, especially as King of Ferelden.

By the end of DA:2, it seemed like I was on a DA: origins reunion show. Perhaps it was not the mere addition cameos that were bothersome, but maybe the gratuitious over-addition of old characters that proved annoying.

Btw, I swear, with 99 percent certainty, that I fought a rando' Qunari npc name Sten on one of the sidequests. Maybe it was another Kossith named Sten, but I thought it claerly alluded to everyone's favorite ash-skinned pal Image IPB

That's because "Sten" isn't a name but a rank within the Qunari. Sten is not Sten's real name. Make sense?

You were killing many Qunari with "Sten" by their name in DA2 because that's their position within the Qunari. Sten will most likely be the new Arishok in DA3.

Also, I don't think cameos would be that weird in DA3. This war involves everyone in Thedas. Therefore, it's only natural destiny unites us again with our old companions.
