Isolde ruined Orlais for me. Everytime I see the word the memory of her voice burns another hole in my brain.

To be honest, I look forward to having a protagonist with a thick orlesian accent.I couldn't get enough of the female sultry voice in origins which made my warden sound like Anora's elven hand maiden.French accents make everything sound so proper, sophisticated and aristocratic. My hope is that Da3 doesn't dilute the voice too much to the point where it sounds english again or rather ferelden.

I'm worried they'll go too cheesy with it if they have you from Orlias, I don't want to feel like I'm playing a Monty Python game for 50+ hours, lol

If they do it right, it could be awesome though.

Haha Agreed. I'd like something along the lines of Marjolaine's tone as I always loved the way she said Lel-li-ana  or even Dulci "Oh my poor boy!" :D

The thought of an entire Dragon Age game in Orlais is 'displeasing.' The 'cheese' factor would be off the charts. I want something grand and epic after the ten years spent in the never changing, dull city of Kirkwall.

I never thought I'd think fondly of good ole Ferelden with its rotting garbage and wet dog aromatics.

Unless you have already, you should go to this thread. That pic would be a more than worthy addition:

Who is this man, Teagan?

I don't mind if DA3 is in Orlais or not.  If so, hopefully everyone dresses the part.  I liked the setting and npcs in Mark of the Assassin, even though it was technically the Free Marches.  What I don't want to see are npcs copy/pasted from DA2 (Kirkwall) with Orlesian accents.

also... "Guillaume!  Darling, we have guests!"

I hated her too. Whenever I playthrough origins I get the urge to sacrifice her to save Connor, but I stop myself because it's "wrong".

I don't think I'll be able to handle a Orlesian voiced protagonist. If they put one in the game I'm turning subtitles on and playing through the game on mute.

What they could do is make all Orlesian characters speak in an American English accent with the assumption that PC is Orlesian and so has complete familiarity with their form of speech, and then give all non-Orlesians something different. Like Fereldans could have thick cockney accents.

Them single 2 words paired together with that accent was the worst moment in DA2 for me.. very painful..

It'll be very interesting to see if they are brave enough to have a PC with an accent outside of Fereldan (English in other words). I would welcome it, they can't keep having you be from one location after all.

Part of me also wants the PC to have a french accent just to annoy people who can't handle something outside of an American or English voice actor. But that's just a bonus.

"Teagan! No, Teagan! TEA-GAN!!!"

Makes me want to carve my ears out with a rusted fork.

Having said that, the Baroness of Blackmarsh in Awakening has a wonderful Orlesian accent. So like always, it just comes down to the quality of the voice actor. Just please, no more Isolde.

You know, I never found Isolde to be that bad. I don't think I ever clutched my ears in pain talking to her.

Marjolaine, on the other hand …

Same here :)
.. Well, except the one about that lady that didn't was her hair and had poor birds sit there as decoration.

I'm looking forward to Orlais! The accents, the fashion, the buildings... the shoes!
Can't wait for a decent pair of practical yet nice looking boots.

I'm all for going to Orlais if we get to run into more stuck-up jackasses like Baron Arlange. Dude was hilarious.

"Dey say yew are de Champeeon of some beckwater zitee to the ehst. Quite an a-shiv-eh-mant, I'm sure."
