If DA3 fails..... ugh.... I'll have to pin my hopes on Elder Scrolls VI...... in what 2020?

Last I heard they were focusing on an MMO, and had no plans for another single player game anytime soon.  From who I heard that I don't know, however.

Nope because the MMO is not being made by them but by the parent company so there all free to make another TES

and on topic bioware is far from dead or failing for all the people saying blah blah complain complain there tons tons more people that are just fine and happy with how things turned out or have better things to do than complain....and on a side note if you have no faith and plan to not by a bioware game what is the point of even being on this fourm

I wouldn't call this their last chance, but yes DA2 was a disappointment, and the anti-climax of ME3 has removed all motivation for me to play the trilogy again (or for some time anyway), but I still have confidence that DA3 will be a good game.

As I said a little earlier (wow, the new DA3 forums are blowing up already!) I think DA3 may be the last shot Bioware has at retaining their old-school RPG fans.

Does that mean if DA3 doesn't cater to this crowd and they all leave, that things will fall apart and they will become a bankrupt studio? I doubt it. They have a large crew of very talented people that EA has invested a lot of time and money in. Besides, losing the old-school RPG crowd (which I am a part of, mind you) would be a hit, but there are many out there and on these forums who see these conventions as unnecessary. So DA3 may actually lose the hardcore group and get the casual/non-RPG crowd they were angling for with DA2.

Either way, its too early to tell, even with some features listed. I thought that based on the features list for DA2, it would be a good sequel to DA:O, but it turned out my thoughts were changed rather quickly. If I see a features list and assume this will be a clone of DA2, I could be very much wrong about that assessment. So we'll wait to see more.

I know one thing - I'm going to be VERY keen on seeing a demo. I thought DA2's demo was decent, but thought it was a rough beta, not the opening sequence and the bar for which the rest of the game was set.

Oh Bioware and a new game with a ~two year development cycle sponsored by EA, well I think I already had enough of that.

I think DA3 will make or break Bioware.

A gaming company is only as good as its next game in the eyes of the public.

All of that goodwill and devotion that BioWare developed with their fanbase after a decade of making good story-driven RPGs, that sterling reputation that put most of their games in the "buy now, don't wait" column for so many people...that same reputation that has now been driven into the mud and been tarnished, perhaps beyond repair, that has made so many former devoted fans say things like "I won't be pre-ordering anything from BioWare anymore"...

All of that is real.

I do agree that if DA3 is a great game BioWare can still salvage a large percentage of that goodwill and devotion.  But it's going to be very, very hard for them to arrest their popularly perceived image, even in the gaming community outside their now diminished fanbase.

I really love DAs so I hope them not to hurry. They have faced so much criticism and their reputation decreased but I still trust them. I also hope the game can be bought in China in the future.

Yes.

I've stopped purchasing EA games since SSX was released (pre-ordered Mass Effect way before) and i knew Dragon Age 3 will be confirmed so this is it for me.

I've given up on them honestly, they need to get it in their heads that multiplayer does not simply = awesome game.

Are developers so insecure about their games that they have to add multiplayer?

Well, if we get multiplayer rammed down our throats that will be enough to understand that they really aren't listening. Co-op is fine, multiplayer is a big no no.

I wonder if Bioware will become the new Sonic.

"This is Bioware's LAST CHANCE!"

It wouldn't suprise me, although it looks like the mainstream audience has already moved on from Bioware anyway. At the most, this would be Bioware's chance to win back some of the Origins fans that weren't totally satisfied with or outright disliked DA2.

Us old-school fans, have plenty of options now thanks to kickstarter.

If DA 3 is great, add another to the list. If not(most likely option), who cares.

It's probably there last chance for me, personally. Even then, I won't be buying it day one. I want fan reviews and an attractive price point ($30-$40) before I'll be putting down for it.

I don't think it's going to doom Bioware either way, though. The name still has a lot of value, and as long as DAIII sells well, they'll keep going.

Not for me. I make my purchasing decisions based on the merits on individual products, not the history of the company. If I dislike DA III and future products resemble the quality of a game I dislike, then I likely won't buy them, but I've never bought into this company/consumer loyalty relationship. They create, I purchase and judge. That, for me, is the end of the transaction.

It is not a two year development cycle first of all. In the blog they said they have already been working on it for 18 months and it's not due till 'late' 2013 at the earliest. That believe it or not is more than a 2 year development cycle.

@Malsumis: What games are you referring to - I'm interested/curious.

As for Bioware - I liked DA 2 okay enough... ending the ending railroaded me with a terrorist.

I liked ME 3 - until Morrigan's OGB shows up in digital form - laughs at everything I did for 3 games and says: "But here's your real choice which would only have required you to be here at this moment - everything else was just for lulz."

Lost faith? Kinda. Last chance? Probably not.

Was wondering when one of these ultimate, super-serious, i-am-totally-super-serial-this-time-bioware threads was gonna start.
