I hope dragon age II was the first and last time Bioware used "awesome" combat.

I much prefer the way combat looked and felt in DA:O. Not these spasmy almost Anime style combat that looks borderline childish, with just flash in the sake of being flashy.
Lets hope Dragon Age III goes back to its origins in this respect.
and please, get rid of the "awesome" blood that everybody is soaked in as soon as even 1 hurlock is slain.

(DA2's combat would have been good with better encounter and enemy design)

*I doubt that will happen again. Right. Right?*

It's called a boss fight. That not odd for bosses to be like that.SnakeStrike8 wrote...
I'm fine with 'awesome' combat. My beef lies with Dragon Ball Z style final boss fights, with old ladies creating earthquakes by stabbing the ground and bringing statues to life and flying about and monologuing in the middle of the scrap.

You do know that DA:O's combat was supposed to be awesome too, yes? The difference was just that in DAII the "awesome" happened directly after you pushed the button, while in DA:O it took several moments, while your character sloooowly turned and stamped to the enemy. That's all the infamous "awesome button" quote is about.
DA:O's combat was genuinely tactical and visceral. DA2's combat was awesome button. So far they've described DA3's combat as tactical and visceral. Just saying.

DA2's combat was very fun especially as a mage. It made me feel like some final fantasy/mortal combat character.

There's probably a nice balance between DA2's combat and Origins' shuffle-shuffle-whack somewhere.

I thought DA2's combat was good. It just lacked strategy and depth
Playing as a mage was the most strategic of the 3 classes. There were so many ways to play as one, like wether or not you want to be the healer/support character and or an absolute powerhouse with blood bending and force specializations.
Worrior was the most bland imo. You just level up and hit stuff with your giant sword. There isn't much else to it.

Lol, mages with rapid fire attacks. I hope they don't include that in DA3.

Well, I'm no supporter of the DA2 combat system but there was a bit more to it than that. Either way, I hope we at least see a return of the tactical camera, and hopefully have the animations toned down.

How about magic beams? Like a kamahamaha wave DBZ style.
