Next-gen consoles?

With the rumours flying about a Christmas 2013 release for "PS4 / Xbox 720", I'm really curious to know if we can expect DA3 to be part of the launch titles. I've also heard that some devs out there already have SDKs... hopefully this means that the PC version won't be restricted (too much) by console hardware.

Dragon Age III: Inquisition Announced; First Details
Psst...it's for next-gen consoles!
With the game coming out next year, does that mean we're going to see the 720/Ps4 announced at E3 next year and coming out during the holidays?

I can't see it being WIIU exclusive (obvious it will be on PC), as it's not that powerful a beast and nintendo isn't famous for supporting westernRPGs.

If you look at the fact that the Xbox 260 launched a year before the
PlayStation 3, then this could mean that Microsoft might have its 'Xbox
720' out in 2013, and Sony's 'PlayStation 4' would then hit shelves in
2014.
While there is no official news about either the next-gen Xbox or Playstation,

I'm not following, How does the 360 being released before ps3 stop the ps4 from being released before 720?

My thought exactly! Also my opinion and concerns.I use a PS3. I have so much wrapped up in it $$$$ wise, Even next year I cant see dropping at least $500 on a new system just to play my favorite game. Anyone else notice the economy Sucks!! I'm sure alot of people out there feel the same as I do.If the Devs and Bioware expect to keep their fans happy or just keep them period they need to at least put the game out on current gen, then go from there after current gen, skies the limit.KIERONOO wrote...
I think it would be on both. But I wonder how they will implement the cross saves for the next gen consoles

I guess you're right, if they target Oct 2013 it's too close for next-gen. IMHO they should wait and release a superior version in early 2014, but oh well... more crappy dumbed down graphics, physics and AI because of antiquated console hardware :-(
I love how consoles have been holding AI programmers back for like six generations now.
Here's a tip: Coding good AI has less to do with power than it does time and effort. The 360/PS3 aren't holding back AI, good AI is just far and few in between. Also, I love how people never point out the lower spec PCs "holding back" things, because they do.
Realistically, they'll launch on these, with some sort of GOTY/enhanced version for the new ones later on.

I hope it will be next gen. I say that for the PC versions sake however.

I highly doubt Bioware wants to cut the majority of where their revenue will come.
PS3/360 each have about 50 million install base(probably more). The most they'll have access to on a new console launch is about 1 million. You do the math...
New consoles will get HD upgraded versions and that's about it. IMO, the game will be designed on PS3/360 as primary platforms...unless one of the console manufacturers can cover their potential revenue gain on these systems. Which I doubt any of them will be willing to pay...
Bad economy too. People aren't going to be willing to adopt early.
Or maybe they will drop a few hundred million to make it exclusive. Who knows...still doubtful.

If it's on the 720, then the graphics will be pretty amazing. Though Dragon Age has never been the type of game I'd nosedive into playing for the sake of graphics. I play it more for the story and the characters. I don't list either of the Dragon Age games as my top choices for "games I play for the graphics" you know? That's just my opinion. (Dragon's Dogma, however, had pretty amazing cut scenes. There were tons of things about that game that drove me insane, but I loved the graphics.)
Anyway, it will most likely be on the 360, especially since they've been working on the game for the last two years. I'm unsure when the 720 will be out, but I guarantee it won't be released until the end of 2013 at the earliest, or most likely around 2014.

Oh, mister hardcore AI programmer, please share more of your wisdom and procedural AI algorithms, pease do!
Meanwhile...
"In general the industry expects that graphics will not be a strong
feature any more... Obviously, graphics are better for marketing
purposes because you can show things. AI you can't show."
"Our challenge with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox [360] is that we're
extremely limited in what we can do. It's a challenge for the engineers
to provide nice graphics and nice AI and nice sound with a very small amount of memory and computation time."
"We think that the next generation of consoles won't have these limits
any more. Games might have more realistic graphics and more on-screen,
but what's the value of making something more realistic and better
animated if you have poor AI?"

The new consoles will be outdated soon after they get here, so no big deal.
