Not everyone was a big fan of DA 2, I understand that.
I especially hated the copy/paste areas, but BioWare already showed that they got rid of those in their DLC.
But, what sort of things do you want to see back?

Weapons, Companions, Gameplay mechanics, ect?

Personally, I liked how Hawke went from a poor refugee to Champion.
I quite liked this, but I especially liked the home base. (And how you went from a small shack to a mansion.)
Also, I found the sneak mini-game in 'Mark of the Assassin' quite interesting, though it could use some improvements.

As for characters, well I loved Varric.
And I would also like to know what exactly happend to Corypheus from the Legacy DLC. (Those who played it, know what I mean.)

Absolutely nothing, except maybe Varric.

I liked the idea of telling a more personal, character driven story as opposed to Defeat the Big Bad. There were good ideas in DA2 but it was a rush-job. I'm into RPGs where combat isn't the whole focus and I really like character interactions. Those were good in both games though. I also enjoyed the impression that companions were interacting with each other outside of the player-character's interference
I do also like having a voiced protagonist.
I got the DLCs but never played them as my 360 has been gathering dust. I must give them a shot.

The different ways you can talk to people. Playing a snarky/sarcastic Hawke was hilarious! (Example: Hawke telling Knight-Commander Meredith that her outfit was 'a wise choice' and it was 'far too flattering to be an accident.")  Image IPB

I liked the more personal story as well, and seeing as DA 3 will likely deal with the civil war I hope it is a story that deals with a lot of different people, factions and possibly kingdoms. And seeing as they did a really good job with Loghain as a belieable villain/possible companion, I wonder who we can run into.

And I have to agree with you about companions interacting with each other without you around was very interesting, especially the Fenris + Isabelle relationship when you didn't shack up with either one of them. (And the moving in with your LI was fun to.

The dungeon layout of course...

Only half joking... I think its inclusion could be rather humorous.... (but it better not be the only layout.)

Varric would be nice.
With romance added in.

Dominant personality system was quite fun in my opinion and I wouldn't mind seeing it again in some way. Also, companions having their own unique skills and them having their own outfits (but in the way Mr. Gaider talked about earlier). As for the characters, Varric and Cassandra must be party members in this one.

I liked how they made Hawk act the same way in the automatic dialog as you made him act with the dialog wheel. It felt like I could customize my character pretty well even though this feature could made much better.

Characters being somewhat specialized, though not to the extent you couldn't do anything with them. While I love DAO, you could do some pretty out of character stuff - like Alistair the Reaver or Wynne the Blood Mage. They need to be characters, not just blank slates with different personalities.

I forgot about the dominant personality, but yes I liked that too.

As for companions having their own outfits, which are customizable, that's something I like.
I thought not being able to equip stuff on your companion wouldn't bug me, but it kinda did.
And I did like the unique skill-trees in DA II, so they should definitely keep those in.

And if Cassandra and Varric become party members, then they should be Love Interests damn it!
(though it will be hard to pick who I'll go for first.  :P)

What I want from DAII:

Combat, art style (or at least something close to that), voiced protagonist (but that's been pretty much confirmed already), the Qunari (and female Kossith!) and cameos (Varric! Isabela! Merrill! Anders! Fenris! Even Sebastian [if only so I can kick his priviledged a** all over the place])! I'll also say "story type" since I agree with thegrimhandango: I generally enjoy more character driven stories than the Kill the Big Baddie ones - but that of course depends on the quality of said story.

What I want from Origins:

More locations (particularly outdoors, forrests etc.), more diverse maps, the wepons (as in, the visual designs - except maybe for mage's staffs), better crafting and customisation abilities (crafting in DAII was really boring, and althought I'm glad Merrill had her own specific style and I couldn't dress her into the Chantry robes like I could Morrigan, some variety would've been nice), and cameos!

I liked how the companions interacted with each other to the point of knowing each other and having relationships with each other outside your influence.

I liked how you had a house, and your LI could sometimes live with you.

I liked the mage's swagger and abilities in battle. They were clearly the most fun class to play.

I liked how the family members resembled the player's cosmetic choices. No more adoptions, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I liked the more mature storyline, though it got lost in the weeds in the 3rd act. Treat me like an adult, dammit.

I liked the Dominant Personality system. Snarky Hawk, nuff said.

I liked the voiced Protag. Good jobs done for male and female.

There's a lot I liked about DA2. I mostly just hated the recycled environments and the game-breaking bugs in the PS3's DLCs. So just take all the good and leave out all the bad.

Forgot to add, I liked the new artstyle. Not for the Darkspawn, for the characters, sure.

Varric and Isabela.

If the elves look like the DA2 elves, I would like another elven massacre to be included like in DA2.

Mage combat animations were good too.

Erm...

The skill trees are nice, I like that. Varric and Isabela are cool, too.

What else? Er...

Custom tactics. I know this was also in Origins (heck even Baldur's Gate), but I was so glad to see it return in DA2, so yes please also for DA3 :)

The different personalities in DA2 was a good touch, I loved being sarcastic Hawke and I think a fully voiced protagonist is another thing to bring over. I'd like to see cameos from DA2 characters and also I'd like to hear about events in Kirkwall since the champion departed.

Sandal is a must too.

The varied non-linear skill trees, party members and sarcastic Hawke. That's about it, everything else from DA2 needs to go.

Cullen of course!

And Fenris and Sebastian.

Oh and be able to have a mirror like in the Black Emporium to be able to change yourself when you want to. Sarcastic character too as others have mentioned. Sarcastic Hawke had me laughing all the time :D

Yes, sarcastic Hawke was brilliant.
So brilliant in fact, that I never played the other personalities. >.<

Anway, people are telling some things they want to see back from Dragon Age: Origins as well, so here comes mine. I want to see the descriptions of items, armour and weapons return. From a simple steel sword to a legendary weapon, I loved reading the description.
It's a small thing, but I loved it. :P

And yes, Sandal should definitely return.
That dwarf becomes more and more interesting every time he shows up...

The Spell and Talent tiers were better for me; less taking of some unused selelections to get something desired. And I personally liked the combat animations so a mage was not just going 'Pew-Pew' any longer, and felt a bit more deadly in castings.

And I also liked the conflict between the Mages, Chantry, Tevinter, and Qunari. I thought Meredith, the Arishok, and related exteme views of freedom and responsibility was a driving force behind the game.

I liked nothing in DA2 except Kossith designs.
