Flemeth is another thing that just belongs within Dragon Age, and I always enjoy learning more about her. (Even if they are just small snippets.)

And I agree with spacymushroom about the family members and the house, I also liked the hair but I could do with it look a little less plastic-ey. (or maybe my TV just sucked and made it look that way.)

What I want from DAII:

Combat, art style (or at least something close to that), voiced protagonist (but that's been pretty much confirmed already), the Qunari (and female Kossith!) and cameos (Varric! Isabela! Merrill! Anders! Fenris! Even Sebastian [if only so I can kick his priviledged a** all over the place])! I'll also say "story type" since I agree with thegrimhandango: I generally enjoy more character driven stories than the Kill the Big Baddie ones - but that of course depends on the quality of said story.

What I want from Origins:

More locations (particularly outdoors, forrests etc.), more diverse maps, the wepons (as in, the visual designs - except maybe for mage's staffs), better crafting and customisation abilities (crafting in DAII was really boring, and althought I'm glad Merrill had her own specific style and I couldn't dress her into the Chantry robes like I could Morrigan, some variety would've been nice), and cameos!

This would be good in my book. Though I would like to suggest that characters could preform combos in battle without having to do cross class combos. More independed stuff like the mages from DA:O would be nice except fo the other classes as well. Say a Warrior knockdown followed by an attack for massive damage. Or a Rogue stun followed by a back stab for a similar effect.

Sarcastic response options and a home base which gets visitors (more frequently than in DA2, though). Oh, and Bodahn and Sandal must return.

I liked the idea of telling a more personal, character driven story as opposed to Defeat the Big Bad. There were good ideas in DA2 but it was a rush-job.

^^ This.  I'm a sucker for a "hero's journey to kill the big bad" story but I appreciate what DA2 tried to do with the framed narrative.  I just wish they would have made that story telling device relavent with the rest of the game.  If everytime we returned from a time shift we saw a changed Kirkwall that had been altered by the choices we made, then I think the framed narrative would have gone over a lot better.  As it stood, it just took us out of the game and interfeared with the flow of the story.

My top selections from DA2

The Voiced Main Character.
The Dialogue Styles (I absolutely loved the Sarcastic/Funny lines)
A return of Hawke in some fashion and hopefully a lot of the Party Members as major supporting characters or cameos.
Varric.
A fitting continuation of the Mage Rebellion story line.
The Qunari (I really appreciated their involvement, design and culture as fleshed out further in DA2)
Varric, please.
The next episode of the Saga of Sandal and his "Enchantment!" mystery.

Oh! And way more cutscenes and interactions between party members, and yourself. Loved them visiting each other and your house, and all the banter. Need to take this even further I hope.

Also, the Romances, which were varied and beautiful.

I like the idea of having a home base or a castle. I'd rather be able to customize the armor and robe choices of the companions; maybe their 'look' could accomodate different armor choices. I would rather choose my character and lose the voice than have a single character.

I'm not quite finished with my first DA2 play though, but I can tell you already the things I love from it:

*Voiced protagonist
*Sarcastic voice
*dialog wheel with icons
*Friendship/Rivalry
*more fluid combat with CC combos
*art/visual style
*the crafting (I actually like not having to tote around all the components, taking up space in my inventory)
*mage animations
*companion interactions
*long reaching companion quests
*a real house!
*Varric
*Isabela
*Varric's chest hair and Bianca
*skill trees
*not worrying too much about equipping my companions for armor, aside from finding the upgrades
*Anders and his personal quest...I can't help liking that poor broken mage man...
*Did I mention Varric?

As for what I am not liking...

*recycled environments
*waves of enemies spawning before you've even killed off the first wave
*small location. You could plop me anywhere in Darktown and I could walk straight to Tomwise or to Anders' clinic.
*lack of decent equipment dropping from looted enemies

As for what I'm ambiguous about:

*starred equipment

the voiced Protagonist was great, especially with the personality s/he adopts and the different (angry/nice/sarcastic) responses one can chose from.
I iked the friendship-rivalry system a lot, since you don't get punished for playing a consistent character who is not trying to manipulate everyone into liking her/him.
I also prefer the battle and menu systems a lot more than in DAO, because let me tell you sorting through the menus was not fun when you play DAO on a console.

Also, Isabela is awesome!

The only thing that i thought DA2 did better than DA:O was the move-to-point command that they implemented on the consoles. Hope that mechanism returns.

My list,

- Named PC so they can be referred to by name
- Voiced PC
- Dialogue wheel
- Dialogue skill system that doesn't rely on combat XP
- Friend/Rival system (needs tweaks though, both system-wise and UI-wise such as making rivalry green or yellow)
- Companions talking to each other even outside of travel banter
- NPCs having their own skill trees
- Inclusive LIs
- Non-linear skill trees
- Skill upgrades
- Cross-class combos
- Glancing blows instead of misses (eases the frustration of bad roll streaks)
- Closing attacks (some of them are quite over-the-top animation-wise though, but the idea is sound)
- Option to turn on and off auto-attack on console (some prefer auto-attack, I prefer to mash A, toggle makes everybody happy)
- Mirror of transformation or something similar to fine-tune looks (or perhaps to shave our hair =))
- Maker's Sigh potions
- Iconic racial silhouettes
- Characters reacting audibly in battle
- Force mage

The Black Emporium mirror was a good thing :). I'd love to see that in some form or another.

I can't think of anything else DA2 specific I'd want. Other than that mirror, I thought everything was better in DAO.

Mood icons (assuming a voiced protagonist)

Ability to defer to companions in certain situations

Dominant tone (though should probably be expanded on a bit)

Multiple companion quests

Banter! Banter! BANTER!

Something closer to friendship/rivalry system (and the changes in the relationship it brings) than approval/disapproval

Talent trees

Continuity.

If I made an extremely hard decision in Dragon Age 2, I would prefer to see the ramifications of that choice, I would like to see how that decision shaped the world, or fell by the way side completely ignored. I would not like to see my choices completely retro-fit by Bioware, simply because of their complete lack of foresight.

Aside from that:
- Cross class Combos added an extra strategic element to the game, it is in fact my single favourite addition to the Dragon Age franchise, and I would like to see it return.

- Companion relationships evolving at a pace that is unique to the specific characteristics of the companion, reaching it's conclusion with both closure and a sense of fulfillment are a must. These characters are all unique and different in their own ways, and their interactions and relationships with the Player should recognise that.

(Characters should not be railroaded down a specific relationship path that is completely out of character for their defined personalities.)

- I would also like to see Force Magic make a return. Nothing is more fun than throwing your enemies around in an tastefully artistic manner.

There's other stuff, but this will do for now.

I have to agree on most of those things with you, most of them I've already mentioned in this thread however. :P
I do want to be able to use the persuade skill (or whatever it was called) some more, because it felt like it was around less than in DA:O (though I admit that certain ways to quickly finish combat were entertaining. (Like having Varric tell a lie, actually almost all the sh!t companions could do when you choose them in an conversation were interesting.))

Several people have mentioned aspects of DA 2 that they would like to return, and I agree with many of them (e.g., sarcastic tone, friendship/rivalry, cross-class combinations, more responsive combat, etc.), so I'll try to list an aspect that hasn't been mentioned as much.

One of the major aspects that I enjoyed about DA 2 was how each of your companions had lives beyond their relationship with you. For example, Aveline can potentially get married, Isabela and Fenris can potentially hook up, Carver has a crush on Merrill, and several companions will meet with each other in the Hanged Man or each others' homes to discuss particular topics or hang out.

I thought that this was an improvement over DA:O, where beyond the beginning of the game, party banter, and a few dog conversations, most companions remained in isolation (which seemed silly to me during a party camp).

Overall, having companions interact with each other outside of the player character just made the companions feel more real, and I hope that this returns (and improves) in the next game.
