Never played the Baldur's Gate games did you?

Varric...
He takes that very complicated crossbow (is it a quadbow or something?) very very seriously.

I thought about it for a second ... then decided it wouldn't be worth it. :innocent:Allan Schumacher wrote...

Didn`t happen with daggers in the BG games. Mostly just with hammers or 2handed swords. And not every third kill ended with an exploding body.

I see what you did there.Mel_Redux wrote...
I would like laser beams. Preferably attached to sharks.
But, no, I would rather there weren't any guns. I want the game to stay more towards the fantasy/medieval genre and not steampunk.

Frankly, I don't see why in fantasy games people want it to not be scientific at all. Science is, in fact, part of Thedas. It may move at a slow pace -- and should move fairly slowly, IMO -- but to keep it from progressing forward at all would be a disservice, I think.
That's not to say I want the entire world to go super high-tech overnight. God no.

Yes it happened with daggers. It was tied to critical hits and the damage delt not the weapons used.
Also that was fixed for DA2 but I understand its not cool for BioWare to actually fix things and actually get some credit for it. How dare they actually address a problem when they can and get credit for it...
P.S.
I am all for a great Quanri Naval bombardment or battle.

Happened with any weapon. All it took was reaching -10 HP or lower and the bodies gibbed.

Well, now that you mention it, Allan. Can I use guns that I unlock in Battlefield 3 in DA3?

Yes, and bombs. Large bombs, because the qunari are large people. Like the powder keg in Majora's Mask. And they should throw it with two hands above their head and it should roll across the ground toward you and you have to jump over it. And the qunari should train their pet gorillas to do this.
You have learned much, young grasshopper.

I wouldn't mind seeing primitive guns, should the Qunari invade again and Thedosians end up acquiring the recipe for gunpowder at some point. Or even have the Qunari develop it, then work on refining it to more capable -- albeit, limited in distribution -- usage.

Well the Quanri have the cannons and that is something mentioned a few hundred years in the past. So its possible a handheld variety comes about.
Guns were pretty much the same for hundreds of years. Some impressive execptions (wheel lock) but they were mostly a metal tube you packed powder into a shot and then a pan to ignite. Not till the confluence of rifiliing, individual cartridges, and smokeless powder do you see the rapid advancement of guns that we have today.
With that said I would not want a companion or the ability to use any primitive firearm. Unless it actually fit the setting and was not another gameplay/gameworld break. If we were given the option to use a handcannon or primitive rifle then that shot should be special in some manner and should involve the time ment to reload.
I would think something similiar to Bianca and Varric but the shot could be loaded prior to battle and the rifle itself would be made to be a effective close combat weapon. So the shot would be its own attack and to use it again would involve a lengthy reloading time.

I could barely handle them in ME. My aim is just ridiculously bad. (Which is also why I don't play ego shooters. Or maybe my aim is bad BECAUSE I don't play ego shooters. Hmm...)
