I love Claudia Black but I ended up feeling genuinely relieved that Morrigan wasn't DA:O's f/f option. I absolutely couldn't stand her.

I think that DA:O's story could have been tragic with Morrigan as a female love interest; at the end, after connecting on a deeper level than just physical, she would have asked her female lover to persuade Loghain or Alistair to perform the Dark Ritual with her. Unlike the male version of the romance, there would be no option to just do it with her...in my humble opinion, I think it could have been very interesting (and angsty!), especially if the female Warden was willing to go through this and still be with Morrigan.

I probably would have been pissed as hell, but I still would have chosen her as a romance. Sigh.

I think attempting to gender a particular fantasy, image or archetype is, at best, rather pointless. Many factors can be at play in interpretation, portrayal and reception. Pretending otherwise is reductive.

Personally I'd love to see another female rogue in the likes of Leliana and Isabella. Both were very well crafted characters.

My own personal idea would be an Orlesian chevalier (sword and board) with golden hair and brilliant blue or emerald eyes. Very heroic and self sacrificial, a lady knight in shining armor. Well, that's a female LI I'd like to see in general whether heterosexual or s/s, but she'd be a good fem option.

Second idea would be a female dwarven rogue. She'd be a mixture of Varric and Sigrun, having a real smart mouth with a witty, almost dark sense of humor.

Yeah, but I don't like that in DAO, you could not publicly (or even in camp! why?) display affection with a same sex LI, and really NO ONE commented on it, unless Morrigan was trying to make you impregnate her through you or Alistair. I think Shale had some lines.

But I would've liked to watch Wynne mercilessly tease Alistair's fascination with a male Warden's "hindquarters" *giggle.*
