I'll say this bluntly: I'd rather have a deep complex companion (outside the big box of archetypes w/ different backgrounds) and have a hetero romance there rather than have a bisexual, sloppily done, wish-fufillment romance, such as the ones we had in DA2.

To me, I'll remember a good same sex romance if the characters are well-developed and unique rather than just same-sex option for the sake of same-sex option.

I would also be very open to exclusivly gay characters such as Steve Cortez or Samantha Traynor, whom can only be romanced by their respective genders.

Not that I wish to argue, but I kind of fail to see the difference. If having, say, gay characters is "inclusion", then having a certain same-sex love interest will inevitably be a way of handling inclusion. That is, I do loathe seeing characters as statements, by authors or the public. What I mean is that if I like this or that romance, liking the character is a must, but if they are poorly handled, I will like the romance less than I could. So it comes together.

But I want a psycho lesbian!  It isn't like we didn't already have the psycho (bisexual) Leliana.  Except Leliana was psycho in the boring religious fanatic way instead of the glory that was Callisto.

No, I don't agree.

Saying 'this is the character I would like to see as an f/f LI' has a very different foundation than 'this is how game x should treat different romances.'

Threads that tackle the latter get into trouble and get locked. This is not that thread. If anyone wants that thread then please go elsewhere.

Making a character into a 'statement' is something we ideologically or narratively place on what is there. And assuming that what is there has a single meaning is reductive and assumes that the writer can't use a character for something different. This thread is not working on that assumption.

And now let's get back on topic please, everyone.
