What I love about Leliana is that she seems all sweet and giggly, but in fact she is a lethal weapon and an ultimate seductress and manipulator.

Exactly. Unfortunately the manipulative and lethal side doesn't get reflected as much as the "Oooh Schmooples!" side so people tend to get the wrong impression of her. Maybe that was the whole point. You lower your guard around her when she talks about shoes and she stabs you in the back before you know it. :)

I think it's more about the fact that she does all the "seduction + backstabbing" affair in an almost innocent way... it's so natural for her that she does it with her "Fluttershy" attitude like everything else.

And that kind of complexity is kind of unique, for a videogame character. However, a true romanceable "Samara" would be quite interesting, especially as a F/F only romance.

I hated Samara with a passion. Not because the character herself was bad but how the game treated her. She was a knight templar with a god complex and felt she was everyone's judge, jury, and probably executioner but the writer completed glossed over that and treated her like she was "good". She was no better than Morinth. At least Morinth realized she was a sociopath.

Back on topic, I do want a strong woman. A warrior would be nice.

Oh my God you just compared Leliana's personality/lifestyle to that of Fluttershy, be my friend forever.

To be perfectly frank, there is always going to be a certain subset of people who objectify such relations. Not pointing fingers here, but it happens.

What I am trying to say is that BioWare can't possibly concern themselves with that. All they can do is attempt to provide content which is both true to and respectful of its intended demographic. And considering Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, I think that particular matter is in quite good hands.

I wholehartedly agree with the fact that BioWare knows how to handle these kind of things. I'm upset about fans objectifying such relations, but I do believe that the way sexuality is depicted in both the Mass Effect and the Dragon Age franchise is pretty much impeccable and I'm optimistic about DA3 too.

Back on topic: a Warrior class character could be something pretty interesting for a F/F romance, perhaps something along the lines of Ser Cauthrien. I would love to see something like that.

What I was saying was that I wanted a character like Traynor, not that I wanted a romance like hers.

Hah, true, she wasn't as sugary as she seemed, but it would be nice to have a character who doesn't hide their lethal side behind the cutesy sweet stuff. One who doesn't really possess that side at all (except maybe via awkward moments like Aveline's questline with Donnic). I mean, Merrill used 'forbidden magic', but she was also adorable, so it isn't quite the same as a ruthless character like Morrigan or Flemeth who uses it.

The only thing I honestly care about when it comes to romances is that they are deep and well-written.

If I fall in love with someone I want it to affect the rest of the game in some significant way, or at least give me loads of dialogue :)

I'd marry Bioware if they did a character like her. I mean seriously... A warrior with Cara attitude? DO WANT! :innocent:

If there is going to be a F/F romance in DA3 (And if it doesn't, I'll be very disappointed), I hope that the dialogue between the two characters will come off more like real oriented dialogue rather than universal dialogue for both sexes. The romance dialogue from Dragon Age II really felt like it could be used for any sex since none of the characters used gender based words. Yeah. Samantha spoiled me.

Right, and if there aren't to be any gender-exclusive LI:s, they should at least modify the dialouge to reflect that they are actually getting involved with S/S relationship. Zevran did this as I remember there was a dialogue option where the warded could state "but you are a guy" or something to that effect. Also, there is nothing that says that a female LI must be lesbian from the beginning. There could be a romanceable LI who consideres herself "straight" but could be swayed by the player if she works hard for it.Thus the story could add an element of relationship drama to it.

Applejack - Aveline
Fluttershy - Leliana
Rainbow Dash - Isabela
Twilight Sparkle - Merrill

How about that? Pinkie Pie doesn't really match anyone as of yet and Rarity would be another Leliana, I guess.

If enough of us ask for a Cara-esque character, who knows. Perhaps one day it'll happen. Too late for DA3 if it hasn't happened already, but there's always the future.

Its never too late, the game probably won't come out for another year or so, and even if something is too late for the main game, there's always the wonderful world of DLC, so nothing is impossible :) . And I do like the Cara idea, she's awesome.

I didn't like this with Zevran though; my Warden was a guy and totally fine with being with other fellas. And the gender-based comments sometimes irritated me, like when Zevran commented in banter on the Warden's "strong hands" as opposed to some more feminine appellation for a FemWarden. I was like, dude, that sounds like my lil' Dalish Warden boy has big bear claw hands. WTF.

I like gender-oriented dialogue if it is just biological sex and not socially-constructed gender. Like have a woman refer to my FemPC as a "beautiful woman" or my GuyPC as a "beautiful man." Maybe if the PC is a warrior, the adjective gets changed to "handsome" or "vibrant" or something like that.

DA2 did it, too (the way DA:O did). With FemHawke, Merrill tells Hawke she is beautiful and like she doesn't deserve to be with such a goddess (aww!), whereas with GuyHawke she gets flustered talking about... being naughty because Hawke can't give her elf babies o.o I always felt like GuyHawke got the short end of the stick there.

You know, Merrill reminds me a lot more of Fluttershy than Leliana does.

Also, comparing Rainbow Dash with Isabela....I'm just waiting for someone to jump in and scream "OMG, Rainbow Dash is NOT a lesbian". xD

I'd like to see a strong woman as LI for a change. Like Aria/Shiala/Vasir/ME1 Ashley, or Aveline/Meredith/Cassandra, to stay in the DA universe. And I'd prefer that all LIs were available regardless of gender; I'm tired of having to cheat to get the LI I want like I had to do in ME2 ;-P

Oh, I agree with everything here. I'd really like to see this type of woman as an LI too. Merrill and Leliana were made of sugar, and Isabela was very free and humorous, but I'd love to see a really 'strong', self-assured woman too. Especially if she was quite stoic and focused like Samara. Although I think it was the right choice for her to be unromanceable,  I think a character with her type of personality would be marvellous to romance. Or one like Sigrun. Also tough and focused, but in an easy-going and wry way.

Also, LIs being available to everyone.

"cough"Cassandra"cough", excuse me.
