The F/F Romance thread: what would you like to see in the women love interest(s) for DA3's woman protagonist?

What if we go more "spiritual" way? I always thought having a Desire Demon as a companion and possible LI would have been lots of fun. Imagine the amount of sado-masochistic jokes and trouble you can possibly end up with such a juicy piece of character. Oh, and never-ending comments on the outfit!
That would be fun lol

Frankly, what I have noticed among the F-LIs with whom FPro can romance is that they tend to be the rogue character in one form or another (that this extends to the M/M LIs is another can of worms and one I'm much more intrinsically interested in but beside the point), Now whether this translates as the literal bi rogue (Isabela, Leliana, Silk Fox (JE/Zevran and Sky (JE))) or the outcast/runaway (Merrill/Fenris, Anders) the fact remains that they are predominantly the isolated character or the sly charming one approaching what looks and sounds like deviancy (but we'd never say that out loud), it's almost as if rogue status allows them to defy heteronormativity safely because they already exist outside of social structure of basic normality: they're wanderers, lawless, isolated, have touched the darker edges.
What I'm getting at is that if I could project an idea of a F/F LI to the staff it would be one that breaks this 'Rogue Lover' trope before it forms.
Secondly, I'd also like to call for exclusivity on some level, because while it is not implausible for all LIs to be Bisexual, it is still textured as such, even I feel that in spite of all emotion, knowledge and logic pointing to the contrary. That's the issue in DA2 but the issue is different in DA:O...
In DA:O we have two heterosexual characters who romanceable, and then two bisexuals, which for me couches things with a mentality of "Oh we better not exclude the homosexual and bisexual fans" which is not a bad mentality at all, but it aligns it with the rogue trope again, but legitimating the "deviancy" as some might view it, by keeping the 'Gay Option' at least knee deep in the socially acceptable zone of heterosexuality. I can't think of any instance in DA:O where there is a F/F exclusive (or M/M but im digressing again) event of romance or sexuality.
Obviously this is the case because you don't want (and reasonably so) to limit the options of players of either gender or sexuality to seduce the noble/maid, however I think the question of exclusivity needs to forgo the LI sector for now and actually begin in outer part of the game, in the gameplay and environment: I feel there needs to be that prominent, powerful woman you need to earn the trust of and she will have none of the male protagonist's coy insinuations and forces him to go the extra mile in work for her, in contrast while a Female Protagonist of any orientation can also do all the work, she would also have the option of taking an alternate route of socializing and romance that is only available to her.
At the risk of opposing everything I've just moaned about in relation to the 'Rogue Lover' trope, I would like to see, as already suggested, a Desire Demon Companion LI, not sex opportunity, not fling, not passing flirt, but Companion LI that is accessible by Female Protagonists. I also want to raise the point of exclusivity here within the LI arena now (though I'm unsure whether it's my altruistic desire for those interested in F/F content, or my desire to see any man who assumes the Desire Demon should be romanceable by men get slapped hard) because I feel the Desire Demon (DD from here on out) should female exclusive, at least her romance anyway. Does this mean she is a lesbian? Not sure. I'm not sure sexuality can be so easily applied to demons, and I don't care to speculate, but in any case, be she a Lesbian DD, a Bisexual DD who is tired of men and their well... sexual urgency, or she gives the guys a freebie and then decides they're too pitiful (where it counts in her eyes, make of that what you will) and takes a major hit to her disposition towards them with no chance of romance ever is up for discussion.
Coincidentally, if exclusivity on equal terms for the sexualities in addition to shared LIs between genders were to be explored, I think it would be of great benefit to have one Bisexual Female Companion who will only romance women and taunt men and maybe sleep with them (the male pro) once and then hate them (DD), and one Lesbian Female Companion. This would coincide with two heterosexual female companions, one bisexual male who undoubtedly despite my ravings would be a rogue, but for god's sake don't make him the "handsome lech", one straight male, one bisexual male with an "easy" female romance, and absurdly difficult M/M romance.
No exclusive M/M romance, I can't believe that came out of my mouth. Ehhh.... one can only campaign so long.
I think I've flitted between topic and off-topic a lot here. I blame my lack of breakfast.
tl;dr
Bisexual Desire Demon LI (Possible companion) who will only romance women, and possibly have sex with a male protagonist then scorn him
Lesbian Female LI Companion
Lesbian Flirting, Courting, Alternate events that are not rendered effectively bisexual should it be a Male Pro

Couldn't have said it better. I think a lot of people, especially ones who post here, are tired of Rogues dominating gay RPG scene. Give us a dashing warrior princess with an attitude and blonde (special request) hair!

This is a wonderful idea. After Jack c*ckblocking Fem!Shepard's attempts to get romantically involved with her, it would have been only fair to have a male PC suffer rejection. :innocent:
Oh man, I wish DA III writes see this...

I think the way ME3 did it, where specific characters were gay, straight or bisexual, instead of the whole cast being bisexual or ambiguous, is the way to go.
There should be one or two characters that are of the lesbian persuasion. As for who they should be.... who knows? I'll leave that open.
You know why I didn't mind it?
Because I thought of it like this: Their sexuality changed with the setting that was affected by the player. I mean you even affected how your family members look by your character creation. Why not companion sexuality too? And you can choose what your characters look like, what classes they got, etc...
Because in games like this, there are MANY realities, each created by each player.

I'd love the challenge of breaking through her barriers, and I'd want it to feel like I've won a million bucks once I succeed. Some people have also suggested that the LI should be blonde, and to be honest I'd love to see BioWare create a strong blonde female party member. It would break the usual pattern for sure!

I'd like a seductress of sorts, a woman who knows that she's attractive, yet doesn't go out of her way to seek sex out. She'd be charming, intelligent, independent. She'd have a quirky sense of humor and she'd be a little bit of a romantic deep inside...

Natalia Cigliuti has a marvelous voice. I'd love for her to return and voice a character like Menycet described, or a Cara Mason-type girl.

I think we should have a f/f villain/hero romance. The bad gal and the good gal having an attraction. Would be a nice change from the constant hero/companion romance that's in every one of these games.
Not sure how it could be implemented (people who will chose to have that LI will basically experience a totally different game if the main villain is also their LI) but I would love to see it.
Perhaps something with a less known villain who isn't the Big Bad, but who will pop up now and then? Could be something really fresh for sure.

I'll be the first to say it: I like playing female protagonists. My first Commander Shepard was FemShep, and stayed that way to the conclusion of my first playthrough of ME2 and ME3. My hero in DA1 was female, my Hawke in DA2 was female, I anticipate my hero in DA3 will be female (though to be honest I'd much prefer to just import my Hawke).
With the assumption of inclusion, the reality is I want to see all team members be possible romances like they were in DA2. Let me choose, according to my personal criteria, who I romance. One of the largest irritants to me from playing the ME trilogy was the two people I wanted to romance the most, Ashley and Miranda, were not viable options for me. I didn't want to romance Liara; I didn't want to romance Samara in ME2 (and DEFINITELY didn't want to romance Jack...). Ashley and Liara were back in 3, and I wound up having to romance my secretary because she was the only bisexual/homosexual romance option I personally wanted to pursue.
I Second that motion:happy:
I also enjoy how da 2 when you were in a romance that it carry on through out the chapters, as well with those interesting comments that the npc and hawke made to each other, when you romance someone,
sorry just being random
hm..i would love for a female Elf character who is already best friends with the main Character from start and before hand ,,(Yeah the whole tiypcal story best friends liking her friend more then a friend), yeah its a tiypcal things in stories, but still it can be fun, they can give it some new ideas...maybe the elf never had f/f romance..so she quetioning her self.

Seriously, I do think Flemeth should be an option, Or perhaps even a Templar.
Jayne!
The man they call Jayne!
He robs from the rich and,
he gives to the poor!
Epic win, sir!
And if we're naming people we want to hear in the game: Ellen Page, even if it's not a romanceable character. And for a really sweet character: Molly Quinn (who plays Alexis in Castle).
Firefly and Castle....You sir have good taste

You know what's funny? I did most of the DA expansion with just Sigrun and the other girl, whose name I can't remember, the one that was basicly elf-Morrigan. I didn't even use any of the other characters, until at the end I used Justice for a bit, as there were some tougher fights coming and I wanted a full party. I don't know if elf-Morrigan (Velanna? That might be her name, its been quite a while now) would make for a good LI, but I'd at least like to hear about what happened to her and her sister. That'd be swell.

Since when did not wanting to romance someone mean they weren't recruited?
depends, if they did not know but recruited them they may not use them at all, even if they needed that person for their party.
