The F/F Romance thread: what would you like to see in the women love interest(s) for DA3's woman protagonist?

A long time hope I have been holding onto is that someday we might see a character like Jack from Mass Effect 2 available for F/F romance. After seeing her in ME2, and how awesome her character was, (all badass and tough on the surface, a scared, scarred girl on the inside). That character was so nuanced... I just keep hoping.
Other than that I would like to see a female companion to romance that doesn't act in a stereotypical way. For example: when Leliana went on about shoes and fashion. (Don't get me wrong, I thought Leli's character was adorable, and BW makes different romances to appeal to different folks, as they should. I just couldn't hear her talk about shoes without cringing.)
Just my thoughts...

I'd rather they'd just make new characters. Arguably Merrill and Tali are the same type of character and yet I loooove Merrill and dislike Tali.Star fury wrote...

A character similar to Leli or Izzy would be nice(arch types and similar personalities.)
Pretty much. Not quite sure about Merrill.

I think the way ME3 did it, where specific characters were gay, straight or bisexual, instead of the whole cast being bisexual or ambiguous, is the way to go.
There should be one or two characters that are of the lesbian persuasion. As for who they should be.... who knows? I'll leave that open.
This. saying I want x race chara to be a LI (in any case) just sound odd to me, we should be waiting for charas personality, story and involvment in the DA world and with our chara, not acting like we are choosing our plastic doll to play with.
If characters were romancable regardless of the PC's gender it would be preferable if you had to inquire about it first, instead of going the Anders route where he just comes out and starts hitting on you. Make it subtle so that people can head canon it out of their precious playthroughs. Granted, they will still metagame and complain, but it would be an improvement.

Steve Cortez was handled beautifully: he was heavily gated so you couldn't "stumble" on his romance path (not that I would mind but as a result there was little to no outcry), and yet he had a lot of frienship content (he was a major bro for my Femshep), something Jack of Isabella doesn't have

I prefer a completely lesbian companion, somebody like Veronica in FNV without Felicia Day. Leliana and Isabela were bi.

I don't have a problem with that.
But with only 9 companions it makes it hard to do, one would think.
Allowing the protagonist to romance certain npcs, would help I woulf think.

That, or player-sexual is the way to go. DA2 did it well.

I thought Cassandra's remarks about FemHawke effectively teased the possibility of her being a F/F romance option. As Cassandra does seem to have a crush on her. So i'll be surprised if thats not the case when the developers finally announce it.kaymarierose wrote...
I've already got my Inquisitor all planned out and I'd be really sad if Cassandra isn't available for F/F romance. She's the next Bioware Woman, in my opinion. She appeared to show interest in FemHawke over M!Hawke in DA2, when she said "romantic" instead of "heroic" during the interrogation with Varric (I don't know, maybe I'm interpreting it wrong... eh.), and... and, yeah, Cassandra F/F romance.

Isabela and Morrigan. These 2 are my all time favourite characters in the Dragon Age universe so far. I am really hoping we get to romance them as a female character

Yeah, that's how I saw it. It made me really hopeful, prior to, and after the announcement of her as a party member.

note: I'm not homophobic, I just think that a sexuality is part of a character, you can even make sexuality a trigger that drives the entire life of a chara.

If you have to say it...note: I'm not homophobic
Anyway, it seems likely that Vivienne or Sera would be my preference at this time, but it's well up in the air.

"Playersexual" has no sense: just because characters don't say that he/she is bisexual/homosexual/straight etc it doesn't means that he/she is player sexual

Player-sexual is a video game term, not a real-life application term.
Unless otherwise stated, the characters open for romance are player-sexual, they lack a "known" sexuality. Their "known" sexuality becomes available as a player pursues the romance (or it is otherwise specified). In addition, romancing F/F or M/M does not mean a character is homosexual, just as romancing F/M does not mean that a character is heterosexual.
Also, the term "bisexual" is very often misused throughout the forums. The characters of Dragon Age 2 were not bisexual, they were player-sexual. They developed a known sexuality as the romance was pursued.
Although your character trait point has some merit, the romances within the games are entirely optional, and I see no reason to restrict a potential romance option simply because you play as one gender over the other.
In addition, sexualities that differ from heterosexual are rarely portrayed as a normalcy, even unintentionally. The distinction between a homosexual character and a character who happens to be homosexual is immense, and has shown to be difficult to differentiate between the two. Sexuality should not be used as an identifying trait. A character, or group of characters, as it may be, being player-sexual, alleviates the controversy.
If they can properly make the distinction between the bolded in Inquisition, power to them with set sexualities, but if not, player-sexual, I think, is the better route.
I'll be satisfied if I can romance Cassandra as a female Inquisitor.

I believe she says that if you defeat the Arishok in one on one combat regardless of Hawke's gender. At least she used the word "romantic" in that scene for all my male hawke playthroughs. But yes, I hope she is available to both genders, assuming she will be a LI.

Whatever. Could you please make another thread about the sexuality of video game characters, that can inevitably be locked, instead of driving this thread off topic?

Right. Some people are *sure* that the companions in DA II were bisexual. Some people are *sure* that they were playersexual. It's nice that you have a personal preference but your opinion is not fact and you shouldn't declare it to be.
I consider my sexuality an identifying trait. It's fine if you don't feel the same about your sexuality, but perhaps you shouldn't demand that of others.kaymarierose wrote...
