Uncanny, I am curious - what do you think would be a good recipe for companion characters in Bioware's games - given the impossibility (my wording) of pleasing everyone?

I ask from the point of view that I deeply share your appreciation for consequential 3D characters, and I find the f/f interactions much more satisfying.

To be honest, hon, I don't think you can break it down into a set of ingredients. (Troubled history? Check! Failed marriage? Check! Boobs the size of watermelons? Check!)

I think the writers need to create the characters who will suit the world, will suit the narrative and who will play interestingly off one another. It absolutely isn't for me to dictate.

The DA team has great writers. (Please come and comment Sheryl!) You can't please everyone but trusting them is the closest you're going to get.

That doesn't mean I can't sit here and observe that we haven't had a warrior f/f LI to date (two rogues and a mage) and I would like to see one. That doesn't mean that I can't say what I'd find interesting, sexy or cool. ^_^

That's true, indeed.
Cass would be a perfect f/f love interest.

"No" to Boobs the size of watermelons being on the checklist?  Gasssssspp !!:crying:
Ok.  Just kidding;)

Ya know - i knew when i was typing it up - that the word "recipe" just wasn't the bang-on word.
Just hung it out there anyway.  As it tis, it worked out fine --- I liked your reply.:)

Yeah, I'm totally of the same mind in terms of simply trusting the DA team writers.
But then, I'm very happy with the character companions in the DA series so far, and that's with their various backgrounds as are.
(Just wasn't overly happy with the one f/f option in ME3 - but awww well (Diane didn't count - nor Liara being in the wings far away).

FemWarrior LI?  Hmmm. You have my mind going as to possibilities.

I'm always partial to mages in everything, but I won't turn down other options. I might hope for Vivienne... but Sera seems like she might be fun too.

I also prefer Mary Kirby for her work on Merrill, but eh.

One thing I know I would love to see in the female love interest/interests would be for them not to change who they are in order to please my PC. Good or bad, I would like to see them remain true to who they essentially are as characters.

Cassandra would be nice.
Who am I kidding, I'll be extremely sad if she isn't available.

As would Vivienne, she seems to have quite a temper.

Lmfaoooo man oh man.

But yeah, I really want Sera, I think she'd be a great f/f LI. Cassandra too because I've had a massive crush on her since DA2 and Dragon Age: Redemption.

are you kidding me right now? It's a video game, why does virginity matter rofl are you for real?

Haha! The funny thing is I'm a straight girl and I found Isabela quite interesting. Definitely worth going Lesbian for. My Warden and my Hawke (the females) had their fun with Isabela in both games!

You can have a quick casual sex with Isabela without getting involved romantically or any hard feelings. She is just awesome. I did romance her a few times though

It doesn't matter, but it has become a stereotype having a virgin LI(Alistair and Merril for example), and (s)he doesn't want that.

Because Bioware has been overusing it, and it has become a sterotype

So it does matter for some people

I agree, I did the same thing. She's fine as hell, and I don't even mean just her looks but her personality reeks confidence and a good time. How could you reject casual great sex from her? It's impossible. (unless you hate her, of course, but I mean ugh it's Isabela  ) BioWare games are usually the only games that I romance females in because they're written so well, and they're usually gorgeous lol but their personalities trump that, always.

Either way it's an asinine requirement for a video game LI.

Comments about Isabela make me chuckle a bit because I tend to go for straight romances - but in DA2, the f!Hawke/Isabela romance is still my favourite. I love how fun and natural it feels. Not that I have a problem with the "playersexual" solution (I think it is in fact the most practical solution), but I think it might be because Isabela is actually written bi and always acts that way ... or because she's a strong, incredibly fun and easy-going character - which is also pretty much what I would be looking for if I played a bisexual or lesbian f!Inquisitor.

I think they're saying that the two extremes of "jaded and promiscuous" and "innocent and virginal" are overused (I could be misreading too, but that's how I read it).

Personally, I think it's interesting that we had those two extremes in Alistair and Zevran in the first game too, but we hear a lot more about it when it comes to comparing Isabela and Merrill as love interests.

I just want a female romance arc for my female character that doesn't feel like it was written by a 13 year old creative consultant.  I don't think that's too much to ask.

Id like something that isn't made just to arouse teenage boys or ends tragically, anything better then that would be good imo.

I actually liked that romance, shame it hardly had any effort put in to it though.

I would love Cassandra for my F/F LI   A strong woman who doesn`t need anyone to look after her . I would have loved to have had a chance with Aveline in DA2 .

I thought it had plenty of effort put into it, as far as being realistic in its portrayal of a lesbian character, one without tragedy, one without being written with clear pandering to a straight male demographic, one without negative stigmas, etc etc

This is coming from a guy who played a male shep. I was totally cool with her the whole way through, watched the romance that shep could enter with her online, and thought that whole bit was fantastic.

I'd use her as an example of how to do it right for future games like Inquisition.
