That's just role-playing, if you ask me.

I think it's easy for straight and truly bisexual people to say 'but LIs with defined sexual preferences are more realistic!', because they are not the ones who will feel left out. (Because let's face it, the awesome people (Morrigan, Miranda, Tali...etc.) are ALWAYS straight options.)

Well first of all I'm bisexual but since I prefer to play as a female so I'm usually always limited to the options for a female PC, so really I'm limited as well with my choices (typically because I always have disliked Bioware's male romance options for their females (ESPECIALLY STRAIGHT FEMSHEP, SHE GOT THE SHORTER END OF THE STICK, even more so then Lezshep)

That's why I think Bioware should always just go the all bi route.  More choice for picky people like me please.

All I want from same sex romances is an acknowledgement that they are indeed same sex. Zevran mentioning that he was bisexual but preferred women was a nice touch which added some realism to the relationship, but in DA II it seemed that BioWare was reluctant to address the issue of sexuality directly and wanted to make Hawke genderless in the sense that our LIs would never mention whether they were involved with a man or a woman.

Isabela would like to have a word with you.

So would Anders

Ugh but the main difference between the male and female version for anders is that men get told about karl being an ex and don't get "i'll only hurt you my love" thrown at them constantly as in the female version Posted Image

Anyway, has anyone got a preference for the alignment of their LI? Like good or evil or lawful or "screw this alignment rubbish i do what i want" types?

Whilst Isabela is very 'chaotic neutral' even she suggests a movement to conforming in the final act.

I'd like someone truly chaotic. Utterly unpredictable and unconventional. A storm on two legs!

I like 'em evil. Or at least chaotic good.

Goody-two-shoes types usually end up being boring, unless they have something else going for them.

Personally i like characters who are a bit snarky. I do love the idea of a romancable female warrior for a change and Cassandra would be really cool. Her habit of saying "bull****" what feels like every 5 seconds could make certain situations a bit...weird though.

That was because she was talking to Varric :P

I totally want my Paragon FemShep (the character, not the setting) as my F/F LI in DA3.
She's got all the qualities mentioned here (well, except for not being blonde. Posted Image )
Tough, smart, acerbic, gorgeous, and takes the initiative!

Oh, and if we could get Jennnifer Hale to voice her, I'd just sit around the fire in Camp (or whatever the DA3 equivalent is) and run through the convos with her in an endless loop! Posted Image

[EDIT:  Heck, with JH voicing her, I'd take a M/F LI, or any other NPC, just to listen to her!]

I usually create one or two male characters and a female character. When I am a female character I typically romance another female. More options are not a bad thing. You should just have to work for it like DAO. Not just click a few buttons like DA2.

Cassandra, Leliana, Morgan, some form of original character. I like the idea of twins! I know it's a little cliche' but imagine the love triangle involved in that one!

We want someone different though, surely? Particularly from actresses who have only just done it?

You mean Alix? We only just had her as a LI, but not as a companion, so at least that part would be new.

I just hope she has a really good sense of humour. I absolutely loved that about Isabela, she could always cheer me up. And pragmatic, but more spontaneous than someone like Morrigan, who could always be counted on to kick kittens. I liked that about Izzy too - she'd go with what felt best to her. I'd like another character with her complexion too. I love the 'Rivaini' appearance of dark hair/skin/eyes. Though obviously she wouldn't need to be Rivaini. Sod, I think I just want Isabela back.

I like the looks of Cassandra, and it'd be nice to have a female LI who's a warrior, but she just seems so serious. A dwarf LI would be nice too. I just loved Sigrun's personality, and I like short women anyway.

I'd like them to be all bi too. I've yet to find an argument against it that makes sense. 'Realism' is a poor argument, seeing as a super-pro-templar woman could romance Anders, a blood mage woman could romance Fenris, a Chantry lover could romance Morrigan, etc. And you could be f*ck ugly with a terrible personality. Are those realistic, just because they're straight couples? Makes no sense to restrict people, and it's usually the bi/gay people being restricted - like in DAO. 'Oh you're gay, here's one LI choice, if you don't like her, too bad for you'.

Hear, hear. On the sense of humor thing and the "realism" thing. 90% of the time whenever i hear someone talk about how you shouldn't have characters a certain way because a certain race/gender/sexuality would be "unrealistic" for their idea about how fantasy and videogames should be i want to facepalm.
Partly because of the weird (and boring) idea of how all fantasy takes place in a male-oreintated, white-washed faux-medieval Europe in which only straight cis-gendered folk exist that comes up a lot.
And also just cause if they had the their way choices get restricted. It's a video-game why would you want that? Posted Image

I also would like a Cara-like character. Why? Because Cara demands it.
