I also would like a Cara-like character. Why? Because Cara demands it.

Oh, CARAAAAA.
How I miss you and your emotions~
And your facial expressions.
And your love for torture.

I want Bi/gay female love interest to actually be beautiful, not a half cooked stereotype like leliana and her tomboyish looks.Isabela wasn't what I'd call beautiful but she was damn sure easier on the eyes.

Erm... are we talking about the same hair-admiring, shoe-squeeing Leliana? Although I don't care much about "femininity" anyway, this seems like quite the odd charge.

I'd love to elaborate, but the second I do Eplers going to breathing down my neck for categorizing so I'll just leave it up in the air ^_^

Personal tastes I guess but I thought Leliana looked plenty 'feminine'. Even if she was styling a pink mullet, docs and spitting tobacco I still wouldn't call her a half-cooked stereotype. The fact that she still misses all the beautiful things she had in Orlais is a part of her character.

Oh, and tomboys are hawt.

Hey, hey. As I said each to their own. Stay unbowed! It's a thread about what you'd like to see in a female love interest anyway.

Getting the female that all players can agree on is not easy. I found Leliana to be psychotic and not likeable for that reason more than any other; a woman that had no problem killing because her lover wanted her to. Yet she has a huge following.

I like shoes (lots of them because I want choice), but I also like denim, (and I would love a dress that was designed so I could fight in it,) and when I look at another woman I want to see a form of attractive that I don’t think most men want to see. It is not the face so much as it is the entirety of her as well as her behaviors and I think this is where any game maker will struggle because we all want different qualities in our love interests. I want a woman that will take me in her arms and hold me and who intuitively knows to let me express myself as well. The dialogue paths needed to satisfy most of us would be incredible.

This is not meant to be inflammatory, but I think men want even more divers behaviors and options to get there.

The bolded is something I would be delighted to see in a potential female LI, although I know it's kind of hard to quantify.  What is attractive to one woman might be a major turn off to another, just like guys.  But our society is so used to catering to the Straight Male Gaze, that it's sometimes hard to even know, as a woman, if I'm enjoying something because I've been socialized and conditioned to find things attractive that marketing dudes have collectively decided I should like.

This is a great blog post (Slightly NSFW) about unconventional lesbian style and why women may be attracted to "alternative" looks.  It may not be the direction the devs want to go in, but the stuff about asymmetry, especially, is pretty interesting.

As for Leliana, I thought she was a bit flighty and odd at first, but Leliana's Song turned me around completely.  The story doesn't completely match up to what she told the Warden in the original game, but it still gave me a new perspective on her character.  I hope that we get more character development for her, if she's a major character in DA3.

To be honest I'd find any suggestion that what I find attractive is purely conditioned into me insulting.

Conventions are ideologically imposed, that is true. But those conventions can still be attractive. As can breaking them.

Hopefully the writing will come first and the character design will work with it organically.

For actress I'd say Laura Bailey, Grey Delisle, Lucy Liu, Lindsay Price or maybe even Emma Stone.

Been watching too much old Avatar the last airbender, but i would romance the pants off of any chaotic neutral/evil characters voiced by Grey Delisle Image IPB

You could do that already in VtM: Bloodlines.

Anyways, I think a casteless dwarf who just escaped to the surface could make for an interesting romance option*. If written well. Leaving behind a world of certain violence and/or prostitution and emerging into a world where possibilities exist... well, it could be interesting is what I'm saying.

*Or just an interesting companion option, if I'm being perfectly honest -
Sigrun didn't really count; she was Legion of the Dead so she never
really escaped from Orzammar.

I think the potential for DA3 is vast. But already have some preconceived notions, starting with Morrigan through the looking glass. So, I expect that either Morrigan or her offspring (I would love to see twins on either side of the main conflict) will be love interests.

I would also like to see love interest in an open world as well, because that is where you find those most rememberable (not sure that is a word) and exciting exchanges even if they are one offs, that stay with you your entire life. Like: I met a woman at the well in Lothering, we got to talking and she took me back to her little home stead. I helped her shift the hay in the barn and we found ourselves in a haystack and alone and the world went away for a couple of hours.

Bioware is good at F/F romances, I'll fly with whatever F/F romance they create :). Of course, strong-willed female with excessively sweet voice would be nice (Yes, I'm looking at you, Leliana).

Leliana definitely had a great voice, but going back a ways to that link with the SWTOR characters, I loved the voice of the Female Jedi (and Kara the teammate in the video as well), just awesome voices. As for appearance, I'd definitely like someone really beautiful, like Morrigan in DAO. Obviously Isabella was the more attractive of the two in DA2, but she could've been better, the most attractive character in DA2 is the main character's sister, that is never a good thing :) .

I did think that Leliana was plenty feminine, she just wasn't as attractive as Morrigan, but she was so much nicer that her personality more than made up for that. It seems like the more attractive of the two has to be sort of emotionally detatched, hostile to love, and you have to work hard to get her to realize that love is good. What I'd like is a female warrior, who is great in battle, wears the heavy armor, but when you meet her, maybe at first you can't even tell she's a woman, but then she takes her helmet off, and her long blonde hair flows down, and you can see her incredibly beautiful face....yeah, that's what I'd like in DA3. Personality wise, she'd be a good, normal human being, strong willed and determined to do the right thing, as well as protect her friends. She's not hostile to romance like Morrigan or Isabella, she's just never had time for such things in the past, plus she never met the 'right man', and didn't know until she met the Inquisitor that the 'right man' was actually a woman.

And of course, thats just one of them. We had 2 in DA2 (I'd count Tallis but she doesn't come with you after the DLC is over), it'd be nice to have more in DA3, its funny how even with how crazy it works in ME3, you arent allowed to romance Ashley, Miranda, Jack, or Tali, but you STILL have more LI options than in DA2. Imagine if ME3 used the DA2 romance system (as it obviously should have), you'd literally have 7 female LIs to choose from (and thats just how many I recall off the top of my head, its been a while since I played it) . So there's definitely a lot of room for a wide variety of LIs to please pretty much everybody :) .

*facepalm" Andraste's knicker weasels how'd i forget? Haven't played that game in years, but still.

Ooh a dwarf would be interesting actually. Hadn't thought about any possibilities beyond human. But you're right that unless you played dwarf commoner origin Sigrun's the only casteless dwarf we've known at all well. I know some of the writers have been not so keen on the idea of a dwarf romance but i think it could be good.

That reminds me, wasn't one of the rumored companions a female city elf rogue or something? Anyone think if such a character exists they might make a nice option?

i think the protagonist female should start off shy or arrogant. you should be able to pick you personality. but with time you become kind and generous
