I'd don't expect BW to pump out dlc or patches as fast as we the players demand it, I do expect reasonable communication about when those updates will happen, you have a ball park eta. Talk to your bosses at EA and tell them you need to communicate that ETA with players in order to keep them interested in (and not pissed off at) the game despite delays. Its in EAs and BW's best interest to communicate things like ETAs to keep a good relationship with the customer, otherwise you just appear apathetic. If BW want to be apathetic I will take my time and money elsewhere

Definitely wish there was more transparency in that... however we've had a few laughs with the biotic god himself Onetrueshot about some of these ideas.
I do wish we'd have more communication with Derek, Chris, maybe even NPelews, or hell... even Eric.

Yeah...

Battlefield 3 announced their DLC's in what like 9 months in advance?

That's not the point of Borderlands though... It isn't about what is the best gun in each category, it is about what effects they have.

The point is collecting as many Orange guns as possible and have all the awesome effects that they have.
(Because most of them are totally overpowered anyways...)
Then you can have fun no matter what gun you use because the bullets fire in zig zags, spray acid, or shoot horizontally, or even fire in the shape of a hammer.

It took me like a year to do it but I have one of every single orange gun in the game.

Was the SMG by any chance a Combustion Hellfire? They are one of the most common and yet overpowered SMGs in the game.

None of the effects I found on guns were game changing. They changed what the gun was effective against perhaps, but not really the way the gun played.

If these super amazing effects are also super rare and I just never found a gun with it, then the game is even more like Diablo than I thought previously =P

I don't recall which SMG it was, but I know it had a 4x fire rate and consumed a ton of ammo. I think that was supposed to be a weak point or something, but my gf was able to regenerate ammo for us, so I never ran out anyway. Basically the only SMGs I found that could kill anywhere near as fast as that SMG were other SMGs with the same 4x fire rate property.

Something like that... People are baffled as to why so much of this game is being kept quiet.
On one hand... EA is saying, go promote the hell outta Bf3... but now EA with Bioware is acting quite different.

Technically it is against forum policy to talk about things unrelated to the multiplayer of this game.

So no, it actually isn't okay for them to express their thoughts.

A borderlands release and the subsequent drop in player base is directly related to ME3MP.

The issue is. Talking about it isn't.

So the issue I'm referring to is not related.

The issue is related but talking about it isn't kosher because it isn't related?

The fact that Borderlands 2 is coming out tomorrow will attract attention away from Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, which is indeed directly related to the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

Talking about how exciting Borderlands 2 will be, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing to do with the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer experience, and is thus inappropriate for this particular forum.

tl;dr: talk about it someplace else.

Agreed...

Until this thread I didn't see anyone talking about BL2 other than to say they were leaving for it or it was going to hurt ME3MP. That's not even what we were discussing in this thread. Now you're projecting.

We are under strict guidlines not to talk about DLCs until after they have gone through and have been approved by first party certification.  That has been the case for all of our past DLC, so you can keep in mind, if there is anything coming, then it would be in a state where it cannot be discussed.  Not even an ETA can be mentioned.

Just go, don't start advertising it. We appreciate what you've done for Me3... but what we don't appreciate is the fact feel the need to bash bioware and go to advertise that you're going to another game.
Truth be told i'll still be playing this, i'm a loyal fan to Bioware and Mass Effect and Dragon Age... They've had some hiccups yes, they've done some good with this and some bad.
This was their first forray into this type of game, and i'll say and i'm sure all of you will agree it was a commendable effort into turning Mass effect into a legit Multiplayer.

Don't sweat, this is the bread and butter of multiplayer games, people need to take breaks to play more games and keep the interest, but when a multiplayer game is good we always come back for more.

I've played lot of multiplayer games, to be honest I am very tired of them now and I've become specially exquisite with them, I've liked very few in the last times: Red Faction Guerrilla, Left4Dead, Aliens vs.Predator. The mainstream warfare shooters look shallow and uninteresting to me: CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc, etc, etc, all of them boring clons of the good PC online games in the last decade.

Mass Effect 3 cooperative is awesome and still will run an interesting career, they nailed it, it has something really atractive inside its core.

Aprreciate that. eveyrone has rules to follow in their job.
I do think they should allow rumors and possibilites to be released. it only helps. the 1st 3 DLCs were leaked way ahead of time and were very hyped and sucessfull. one that has no press until a few days before release won't be as popular

Seems legit. :wizard:

I wonder what classifies as talking about DLC though, because players that think nothing is coming and focus is being shifted away from ME3 will wander to new games. Of course if you told us nothing was coming, could lead to a drop in player activity whereas if you'd said nothing they would have gone on collecting their cool gear until maxed out/satisfied with their progress.

That hurts BW, i'm sure. However it's also the reason you can't talk about it right? If a pattern is established where we're notified of DLC, an absence of notification could be interpreted as an absence of DLC and again player loss, even if you just had a particularly long dev process.

I totally didn't have a question and then answer it myself almost immediately. Who does that? Losers, probably.

Thank you for responding. While I understand your guidelines and your interest in keeping your job, I think there are some clear ways around the guidelines and achiev the same goal:
1) Ask EA to make the announcment themselves, and then you pass said announcment to us.
2) Chris P was alloud to say that there was more DLC coming out so obviously there are SOME things you can share without breaking the rules, could you find out what those are and get back to us?
3) The last 3 dlcs were leaked well before there relase, given how successful those DLC releases were couldn't you make the case to EA that its makes good business sense to release such info? there must be somone at BW high enough to negotiate and interact with EA so as to communicate the needs of the product.
4) Announcecement about announcment (I love loopholes). You can make an annnouncement today that you will make "an important announcment about upcomming dlc on [X date]"  This doesn't give an eta for the dlc release but it gives us enough info to put the pieces together given that DLCs are usualy announced 1 week or so before releasing.

But really we just see some sign that you care. We have literaly no idea what goes on at BW HQ, you could be working hard on DLC and patching ME3mp or you could have abandoned it and started working on a new game. Even a statement like "we are spending almost of our time on the DLC so we can get it to you all as fast as possible" would be greatly encouraging.
Cheers :wizard:

Thanks for letting us know about this but I guess the real question is why? Is it in case something you talk about can't make it in? You don't want players saving up millions of credits? You want it to be a surprise? To me it seems like free advertising to talk about it at strategic times, and those times would be well in advance of certification. You keep interest up and get people talking about it both here and in the game.
