Not looking for a confirmation, since I know the development team have nothing decided yet, but if one of the community managers know if they are thinking about arcane warriors, at all, could you please just answer with a yes or no?

As of now, this thread is dedicated to discussing not only AW's, but other mage specs aswell. What do you want to see in your mage in DA III, give us the specs you wish to return, or give us ideas to new specs that you feel are needed! Just remember to explain to us why you want it to return, and what niche the spec should fill out.

I know a lot of people have been clamoring for the Arcane Warrior spec, so hopefully they heard our cries.
I would actually love it if they had a spec for each class that was like a combination of each of the other classes. They've already got some of the framework in place. Arcane Warrior is mage+warrior. Templar is warrior+mage. Duelist is rogue+warrior. If they could add specs that are mage+rogue, warrior+rogue, and rogue+mage that would be awesome.
I would love to see specializations be limited to one and have the option to be a blend of one of the other classes or to strengthen the chosen class. Something like

Mage-
Force Mage(adds to the strengths and strategies already utilized by mages)
Arcane Warrior(blends warrior strengths and abilities with the mage class)
Shadow Mage(blends stealth and backstabs into the mage class)

Warrior-
Champion(adds to the strengths and strategies already utilized by warriors)
Templar(blends mage strengths and tactics with the warrior class)
Guerrilla(adds benefits for singling out foes and distracting enemies like rogues)

Rogue-
Assassin(adds to the strengths and strategies already utilized by rogues)
Duelist(blends strategies and strengths of the warrior with the rogue class)
Saboteur(uses hexes, traps, glyphs, potions and poisons to attack and afflict foes with detriments like a mage)

Indeed. I've always loved the mage class for it's uniqueness and rp possibilities, but I'm missing the chance to be up close to the enemy and being able to take huge amounts of damage. The arcane warrior fixed this, and I sincerely hope it'll be added back into the game with DA III.

I always love playing magical warriors and paladins and all that stuff. I'd love to see a sub class that is designed for this.

Arcane Warriors in Origins were horrible balanced and had boring gameplay.

Not opposed to a mage who can swing a sword in principle, but they need to be a lot better than the Arcane Warrior.

While we're on it, why not bring back spirit warriors aswell? Makes for great role-playing concepts.

If AW was brought back as a specialization, I would like to see it have a broadened tree like they did for DA2 specs. Half the tree for sword use, with their own unique wielding style apart from warrior and rogue, and the other half containing sustain spells like the Battlemage spec from Awakening that deal damage to enemies closely surrounding them (Hand of Winter, Elemental Chaos)

As a mage, you could then choose any complimenting spells from other trees (I think force magic would work well with an AW)

AW was maybe the most boring specialization in DAO. I guess it could work pretty well, if the DA3 combat was similar to DA2 and the powers were reworked (randomlycomsmic has some good ideas). If its based more on DAO, they dont have to bother with AW. Then again, as far as I am concerned, if its anything like DAO, they dont have to bother with DA3 at all.

Don't forget survivability, part of the AW's charm was how it made you nigh on indestructible. That'll probably be nerfed quite alot, but I'd still like to see that some of it remained.

i want spirit warriors back :D
i would have liked it to be a little different, like having a sustained ability that increases the range of your melee attack and deals spirit damage [like a ghostly wave slash extending from your normal slash], a weak ranged spirit attack similar to spirit bolt but more useful to pull enemy's aggro rather than damage, and a "spirit form" mode that allows the spirit to materialize and fight at your side [kinda like nero's in DMC4 devil trigger] at the expense of your stamina, slowly draining until it's gone....also Evangeline De Brassard

I want Dalish Keeper back...

But would be awesome if they bring arcane warrior back because it was fun to wield swords while casting elemental spells.

I loved Arcane Warrior with "Crushing Prison" and "Mana Clash". Anyone remember how broken "Mana Clash" was, and can you imagine it being used in DA2?

There really should be a warrior-esque mage spec. AW was my favourite Origins spec, easily.

I loved Arcane Warrior, but if they're resurrecting a spec I hope it's Shapeshifter. Even though the powers weren't that great I loved the idea of being a mage that could change their form at will. I always took Shapeshifter as a spec in DA:O.

And yes, I am aware that Shapeshifter was not very popular and probably won't be back.
