I think this series may suffer from small world syndrome. If we run in to the everyone from previous games and they just so happen to be in the party would that be interesting to anyone? Would it not make the Thedas feel small? It was cxrazy enough running in to people in the mass effect universe all the time, but are people cool with seeing the same folks over and over? I would not mind a slight nod here and there to the most influental characters ie the Warden but seeing Sandal and Bodhan again would be a bit much for me at least. What are your thoughts?

Yes and no. I think they should keep cameos for the sake of cameos down to a minimum.
Of course, this is a pivotal event in Thedas. The big players are likely to be there. Leaders of nations may be turning up with there armies. Mages met in previous games may want to be on the frontlines in civil war. Hawke could have various justifications for a varity of choices you made in DA2.
Any surviving Awakenings Wardens, Alistair and Loghain may even turn up at the Wardens Orlesian HQ.
As long as it makes sense for them to turn up, then it'll be fine.

I'm gonna go with no, as there is a strong possibility I might be saddled with one of my warden's LI and I'm interested in hearing all the Juicy gossip of whats been going on with that for the past decade

Only bring back characters that make sense. I fully expect Leli to have a big role because of her role in the Chantry itself at this time.

It doesn't bother me that paths intersect, and characters from previous games will reappear for a cameo or bit part. A good portion of characters we have encountered like to be where the excitement is - and have reason to be where all the energies converge. It doesn't make Thedas feel small to me - rather, it makes me feel as though where I am within the game is indeed some location/time of significance, and numerous individuals will have a hand in how the world is shaped.

I EXPECT a few paths to intersect; makes sense that news will travel, and our acquaintances would continue to have the same interests in the fate of Thedas as they showed previously. Even if they don't actively participate anymore.

Garrus taking off his helmet in ME2 was one of the best moments in my entire gaming history...
I'm gonna have to disagree. In my opinion, the more they bring back, the better.
