Having seen a 9 year necro last week on another forum, this is nothing. who is the heir apparent to the throne.

I think it is a valid question at this point. If Bioware were going to report the reveal tomorrow for, say, May 5th (a random date I just made up), how would that be told? A Tweet, to be picked up in the DA Twitter thread?

If so, I find that a little lame.

Cole sounds like the ultimate god-mode character. i mean. the guy is invisible. He can be ordered to scout ahead and slit the throats of anything in the game, and get away with it.

How about now-ish?

Well before the official announcement of Dragon Age 3:Inquisition a lot of significant information was leaked. The information was used in product surveys to gather feedback on everything from the game's title to the companions. Inquisition was one of the options on the survey for the title, so that information is pretty much 100% confirmed.

***SPOILERS AHEAD! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!***

We got 2 product descriptions of the overall plot of DA3 from the surveys.
This was the first-

"The great nation of Orlais, the most powerful empire in Dragon Age, tears itself apart in civil war. The stout men and women of Ferelden struggle to recover and reclaim their nation from the horde of vile Darkspawn that lay waste to its lands a decade ago. The Chantry, the once-unified faith of the Dragon Age world stands divided. The Templar Order has broken away, claiming the church has become too lax in policing the dangerous powers of the mages. The mage Circles have rebelled, believing the Templars have become too strict, too zealous in their duties, and too quick to slaughter those who dare step out of line.
The World of Dragon Age is on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicenter of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world to chaos.
From the ashes of that explosion, something new arises- the Inquisition. As the Inquisitor, it falls to you to build your power and martial your forces, uncover secrets and build connections across the world. You must explore forgotten places, uncover ancient mysteries and uproot those who would destroy the delicate fabric of the world."

And this was the second, translated from German by a forumite here-

"A portal between the worlds unleashes hords of demons in the land, civil
wars rip apart nations and the corruption is limitless. Someone is
behind the shadows, drawing the threads which destroy the world. Time
has come for the Inquisition.

Take the Inquisitor's cloak and
lead the only force able of bringing light into the darkness. Choose the
direct method and gather your armies, send spies into the shadows or
engage in a political war, make friends and use your connections
indirectly: it is up to you how you lead the inquisition. But you'll
have to take lead of it from the beginning. Make your player a rogue,
warrior or mage and set up your crew from up to ten (!) complex
companions to lead them against those who attack you by systematically
spying on, revealing and destroying them."

And here are descriptions of several companions-

"Cole- A long time ago, a young man died a cruel death is dark place. And now, somehow, there is Cole. Was he a spirit or a demon? Is he human now? Cole is not sure it matters any more. Hounded by memories that aren't his own, invisible in a world he can stalk like a shadow, the rogue must decide between joining the living or preying upon them."

"Dorian-Dorian Pavus is a Tevinter magister. The title conjures fear of arcane master who once enslaved nations. Dorian may wield the power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you would expect. Brazen and clever, this outcast is on a crusade to rid his homeland of its corruption."

"The Iron Bull- The Iron Bull is a long way from home, and he prefers it that way. A slap in the face of typically humorless Qunari(Kossith), he loves drinking, killing and looting- but not necessarily in that order. The head of a vicious mercenary company, he's known for excellent pay and brutal punishment. It's been a decade-long party, but the Bull may find that old loyalties die hard."

"Sera- Sera is young, frenetic, and a brat through and through. She revels in the athleticism of being an elf, of being different. But her culture isn't elven, or for that matter strictly human. It's the underbelly of the city in her network of rogues; what you do it more important than where you're from, and friends open more doors than titles. Robs from the rich to keep for herself."

Cullen, Cassandra and a Grey Warden are also listed as companions. Art of Cassandra and the Grey Warden was previously shown by Bioware to illustrate their new campanion customization system.

Concept art was also leaked, showing several of the companions listed and a few others.

The art can be viewed here-

http://www.flickr.co...s/87353155@N06/

These concepts were also listed as possible additions/focal points to DA3:Inquisition-

- online/co-op mode
- special finishing moves
- a lot of crucial decisions
- drama and suspense
- player-controlled day/night cycles
- better party management
- 4 companions at a time

Wow. Thats some information I had never heard of. Odd that all this came out so long ago and nothing anywhere near as detailed has come out since. Also interesting to hear that Cole might be a companion, never saw that coming. All sounds quite interesting and obviously things may change during development.

All of it is rumors based on the leaked poll that supposedly went out. Bioware devs denied it (I believe I remember a response by Gaider as rating the whole thing as a 6/10, implying it was a decently done fake) so most of it was just chalked up as either unreliable or not set in stone.

LOL As lovely as this would be, Cinco de Mayo falls on a Sunday this year. Not the prime time for revealing a game... but I've been wrong before!

It was a Fall Wednesday. And it was cloudy.

After reading Asunder my character is probably gonna go gay for him. xD

Like Cole is just that much of an ultimate boss. His character is completely well done.

I'll take a demon/spirit in my party over anybody any day.
Well.. as long as it isn't Justice. I don't need him blowing up every Chantry we see. <_<

OK. I'd probably give it more than a 6/10 though. Everything sounded very believeable. I would naturally assume nothing is set in stone but that is very different than the entire thing being fake.

reat character. I agree. Just not sure how they will make him make sense in combat situations. And explain why he can`t just take care of every in-game problems by using his invisibility.

If he was in the game as a companion they would probably just give him some sort of advanced stealth. Afterall, correct me if I'm wrong, but everyone he kills can see him before he does it?

Nah, he's a Dark Templar from Starcraft 2, you can make him when you play Protoss. All you need is something that can detect stealth like an Overseer, Observer, Missile Turrent. I'm surprised the Templars didn't construct Ravens or Missile Turrets to find this guy, he was hacking away at their base for ages >.>.

lol

I amuse myself.

To be fair, Cassandra can kill dragons and blood mages with one swipe of a sword, according to the anime.

There's going to be some serious gameplay/story segregation when you get her at level 3 in your party.

I think those who wish to be dead, or about to die are able to see Cole, not necessarily being killed by him.

-sighs- True, true. Though by the time Bioware actually does decide to reveal something, I have a feeling that the entire world will be in ruins by us. LOLOL. Our fandom is ruthless and the people are getting too restless. Including myself. The wait is killing me slowly every day. I wouldn't even mind if they released DA3 in 2015 if it was pushed back for quality. As long as I have SOME information to completely tear apart. I'll be fine with my wild assumptions for a year.

None the less, so far April has been a very uneventful month and I see it being this way for the rest. I feel as though we might get some information in May due to the Microsoft event being pushed back a month? I'm one of the people who believe that the game is going to be on the "Xbox 720" and PS4 due to them not telling us what platform it was on once they announced the game. So I feel like they will give us information when the 720 is revealed ala Microsoft event or E3? Since the May cover of Game Informer was released so obviously they won't be telling us anything, at least until June.

World of Thedas was postponed to April 30th. The next Sprint Review day probably won't be until mid-late May. And with all these postponing I just have a bad feeling DA3 will be postponed too.. ahh well. Bioware you evil thing, you.

When they're damn good and ready. Man, doesn't anyone remember the good ol' days of console releases where you only knew a game was coming out because it was staring back at you on a store shelf?

All of this makes me glad I'm playing through again as a mage. I'm waiting until the reveal before I play Dragon Age 2 again. That way I can really enjoy it knowing a hard date for when the follow up is to come. Please don't disappoint Bioware.

EDIT: I figure they are holding the reveal for E3 as their big bang. It would make sense anyway. I mean, we are this close already why not? If it is revealed sooner I'd only expect some screenshots and minimal info with bigger disclosure at the expo. But to that end I'd rather just wait for E3 period and be shown everything at once rather than teased.

I think it's explained in Asunder that Rhys has a 'special' connection to the Spirit World - maybe the DA equivalent of a psychic?

I wonder how the PC being able to see Cole would be explained ...

For Cassandra, even in the anime she wasn't giving her "all" when she was sparring against Byron. They just need a comment that she's being lazy because you are fighting mooks or she's lying about her abilities or maybe she get injuried at the start of the game and "leveling up" is just her getting better. Or they go the DAII way and the gameplay is segregated from the story again...

If he really is a companion he's going to have the best companion quests, I think.

Yes, the good ole' days when no game that wasn't shipped with a console sold more than a million units, where game development companies can release some of the best games ever one year and then be bankrupt the next, where saying you were in the video game industry was synonymous with "I'm not expecting to keep work into the next tax year."

Yes, those great, golden days of the video game industry.

Those surveys were as legit as you can get. Its no coincidence that right after those leaked that they hurriedly officially announced Dragon Age 3.

The concept art in the surveys was absolutely from BioWare and the general plot synopses sound right in broad strokes and matches up much of the things we've seen in the lead up, like characters like Cole in Asunder or the future book dealing with the Orlesian civil war. Maybe some of those companions change but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they don't either.
