MP is not taking place in the Reaper war. It's a simulator.

Why would we have event weekends urging us towards a goal if none of it was real?
Why simulate not having access to standard equipment?
Why would they simulate credits at all?
why would they simulate experience?
Why simulate difficulty levels? You would only train for one level: THE REAL THING.

If people are questioning promotions, it's simple. A character is trained until they hit Level 20, and then go assist in the actual Galaxy war.
Why else would we always have to do the same objectives all the time? It's training.
It makes sense to me, but I'm down for either possibility.

Eh, I can actually believe it's a simulator.

But then why would a training simulator increase readiness percentages across the galaxy for each mission you do?
Also the sp mentions new recruits coming into to the war because they are being inducted officially into the alliance military. They are no longer just mercs anymore.

This make me wonder, does people really believe that in a beautiful day of sun, Bioware will just come out and say "Surprise!! Shepard was indoctrinated and the MP is just a simulator!! Plus, everything is happening inside the Geth consensus, and Elvis still alive!!!"?
Does anybody is so hopeless lost from reality that is actually waiting for something like that to happen?
This is what I wonder myself. What kind of reality starved mind does it take to come up with your own explanation of things completely born from subtext and assumptions, then immediatly assume it is valid and BW intended it all along, but they hid it for 6 months so that they can spring the surprise when no one is paying attention later on and people have already moved on.
Also bioware writers just aren't that clever either. If this were "Eternal Darkness" the game then I'd give you the time of day, but how many other long story sequences in ME have been in the "it was all just a dream" genre? 0.

So actually the rocket glitch is not a glitch at all. Since MP is a simulator IT'S A FEATURE! That is why BioWare not patch it, the MP simulator is much realistic if they put some bugs like Vanguard glitch (and etc.) in it.
And this simulator guys are soooo special Hacket let them called themselves N7. And top of that - despite the ongoing war - this simulator is so cool they send REAL N7 soldiers into the simulator (instead of war). Sure N7 training is not enough for them and the Galaxy has a loooot of time Alliance can afford themselves not to use their N7 soldiers. Yeah, send them to a simulator and Promote them!!
I just don't get it how people come out of the blue theories like this. If BioWare want it as a simulator, they do it as a simulator like Pinacle Station.

You wish it was a simulation. The fact of the matter is, we are all indoctrinated.
Soon ME3 MP will evolve into slow motion jogs through unfocused, wooded areas with shadowy apparitions along the path. We will all have Paladins with infinite ammo, and Marauder Shields will gracefully spring out, wearing a tilted, French beret and a coconut bra. He will shake the maracas and sing Babaloo like a reaperized Ricky Ricardo.
A red-headed husk will appear out of no where, jump on you and say, "Ewww...."
A hidden trap door will raise a line of Brute background dancers, breaking out into the gay Spiderman dance.
A disco ball will descend, reflecting off red, blue, and green lasers, and then it will explode into extended cut confetti in the shape of level IV equipment.
Geth will jump down from the rafters with Pulse Rifles in hand, and will shoot soapy water into the air and at the crowd. It will become a sud party.
A platform in the center of the room elevates from below the ground. Everything grows dark except for a single spotlight circling this platform. The spotlight finally centers on the platform to reveal the figure, who was hidden in the darkness, the star child, who stares right into your eyes and, in Austin Power's voice, says "We'll bang, okay, Baby?"

The whole idea of gaining Galactic Readiness for doing it more, and losing it by the bucketload for going off for a few days totally supports that, especially if I'm using each character I own once a day and alternating, so none of them would be getting nearly enough "training" to be effective, and yet the readiness still rises.
Different explanation:
Only the multiplayer matches that you participate in or are linked to allied challenges are canon.

"Good job shepard, we're sending in special forces to hold the area."
I don't understand how simulations would be able to effectively hold a location against real reapers/cerberus/geth.

What about the part in the single player where you do the actual MP maps as missions and at the end hackett says something along the lines of ;
