As soon as Kaidan came back onto the Normandy after that Citadel mission, I quickly went back to the Citadel right away to complete a different mission and I happened to see Kaidan sitting at the cafe. I had the conversation and ended up saying that he was like a brother to me? I checked the forums and apparently that was supposed to be the scenario where you can enter into a relationship with him, but I didn't get that opportunity!
What happened? I must have done something wrong. I chose Kaidan as the love interest in ME1, had a thing with Garrus in ME2, but apologised for it in ME3 so I thought it was all good. Was it because I had the conversation too early? He hadn't even asked to meet at the Citadel yet, and when I played on and he eventually did ask to meet him at the cafe, he wasn't there anymore. I had been planning to choose him from the beginning, how annoying.
Do I get another opportunity to enter into a relationship with him before the game is over, or is that it now?
Was the cafe scene the last chance to get together with Kaidan?

Yes, that was his lock-in moment. If you miss it, then you can no longer romance him.

Ugh, I thought it might have been. Never mind, thanks anyway!

Do you have a save prior to the Cafe scene?

Did you do the date with Garrus on the Presidium and tell him that you loved him? Because if you did, then that was why you had that conversation with Kaidan. If you didn't then it might be a bug.

Did you buy Kaidan that wisky bottle at the hospital?

No, I stupidly saved over it, I'll be more careful next time. I hadn't done the date with Garrus when it happened (or anyone else). I didn't buy him the whiskey when he was in hospital though, I must have missed it. Was that important?

I guess the wisky just kind a aided towards the right direction if you wanted to romance Kaiden. Like Shep said, it was a little "pick me up" and it does play a part later in the game between them.
