1: different body types. Athletic women, husky/heavyset men (instead of just shrink-wrapped muscle), skinny both, so on.

2: MOAR MAGNIFICENT BEARDS. All the previous beards were either not full beards, or were long and unkept, ungroomed. Duncan's and Garret Hawke's are good examples.

3: Let us play old peeps if we want! Maybe I want my PC to be a retired war veteran, or someone who has been at this running-folks-through game longer than YOU, Sonny-Jim. Though DAII finally gave us something... CLOSE to grey hair, and we can use complexions, if we do we still have family members as parents that look as odl as we do, and everyone calls us son/boy/girl/kid.

4: More feminine (but unobtrusive) hairstyles for the ladies. Up-dos work well: long hair, but having it tied up prevents it getting in the way of armour (clipping issues). WHY MUST YOU KEEP WITHHOLDING THE MORRIGAN HAIR

5: Either let us choose lighting/background options on a slider or start using a natural lighting, dammit. DAII's CC isn't a good representation of what Hawke looks like and I had to keep taking them to the Mirror in the Emporium. Even WORSE, was the Awakening one were everything looks teal.

6: LET ME BE A DWARF, PLEASE. Their men are manly and sqaure and their woman a gorgeous and curvaceous. They have the BEST architecture and the most interesting cultural/social structures.

Just make it like EVE online's character creator.

That creator is AMAZING, seriously. I would... maybe I'm alone in thinking this, but I would actually pay a one-time fee for the stand alone character creator just to muck around in it! Of course, isn't that just used to determine portraits or something? They don't actually render it in game, do they? If so, it would take vast amounts of memory.

Here's an example of the limitations in the DA2 CC I hope is avoided in DA3. I was trying to achieve a certain look, sharper. I even wanted to play with the possibility of a little gauntness. These are 2 utterly different presets, vanilla game presets, and are virtually identical. One started as a thin face and one more round.

Image IPB

What is the point of having different presets if you can arrive at exactly (almost) the same place.

This also illustrates a point I was trying to make with lip color earlier. This particular shade is at full intensity. While some colors look garish, ill-applied or positively neon at full intensity, some do not. I wanted a deep rose and this is the best that I could get. Other darks were too purple, too tan, too rust red.

Other than that I think she's kind of cool.

Race options. If there are race options, I want to be able to give my elf characters decent ears like most of the other elves have, and not LotR-esque tiny pointed ears.

Also, more hairstyles and facial hair. And don't hijack our jaw and mouth settings just because we have facial hair.

Also, increase the range of the sliders so we can have more variety. It was impossible to make a female PC in DA2 with a thin, strong-boned face.

I was thinking, if you have the DAO toolset, you can create your own face and not only select the eye color, you can select the eye texture. Why not do something similar for DA3, but have it be the character creator? Instead of a bunch of presets with limited options to adjust, you only have 1 or 2 (the second extremely different from the first) for each race/gender and then be able to selectively change a greater variety of items? All sliders like DAO where you can click an arrow at either end rather than have to hold the mouse the whole time (frustrating).
  • Face: general shape + skinny/fat adjustment + complexion + tone + different tattoo channels + makeup options (blush, lipstick, eye shadow and eye liner (not included, but don't see why not))  + freckles and beauty marks + scars
  • Hair: pretty much the same but more variety and bette textures. Also consider 2 components to hairstyle: main + bang types. For hair color consider having the option for streaked look, 2nd color would be full range so you could have mildly sunkissed to majorly dramatic. from 1 streak to all over
  • Eyebrows: same color options as hair + more variety + option to have one higher than the other a la Spock + frown
  • Eyes: Color + texture + shape + size + height + spacing + options for a droopy eye, lazy eye, cross eye, blind eye (but only one blind eye) + eyelash color + eyelash length + eyelash fanning + squint/crinkle
  • Cheekbones, jaw, chin, cheeks all have different sliders to achieve a wide range of faces: thin and gaunt, angular with pronounced cheekbones, broad and flat, etc. + height options
  • Nose: pretty much like I can change in DAO + add hook to any nose + asymmetry
  • Mouth: shape + size + overall thin/fat + adjust bottom lip and top lip separately + overbite/underbite + height + right corner up/down + left corner up/down
  • Ear and neck options as in toolset
  • Earrings that you can add which have nothing to do with hair color. studs, small hoops, small dangles.
  • More mustache, beard, stubble options
  • preview in sunlight option before finalizing.
  • some sort of hand mirror or standing mirror at home/camp so you can adjust at least some of these.
Very little of this was not in the toolset, so I would think something could be done so you would have more options to modify the details and really make your PC your own.

 More hairstyles, preferably longer styles.

Better makeup options for females, like separate eyeliner and eyeshadow sliders.

The capability to make sharper facial features such as jawlines.

BETTER LIGHTING.

More eye colors are always welcomed. Perhaps some crazy ones- a good easter egg would be TIM's eyes from Mass Effect 2 and 3.

More beards and hair styles
As others have said, freckles and scars would be cool.
More tattoos and maybe the ability to have them somewhere other than the face. If, as in the other DA games, some of the lighter armors leave the arms exposed it would be cool to put a tattoo there.
Jewelry (earrings, nose rings, eyebrow piercings etc...) options
Full body customization (height, weight, general muscularity etc...)
Some sort of slider to determine the character's age that the game will respond to (characters in the game would react differently depending on how old your character is)

Everyone who mentioned lighting: yes please! I have no idea what my character looks like if I'm trying to create her in what essentially looks like a dungeon with a flickering torch.

longer hairstyles for females, and more for men,
better armor, especially the feminine 1's, like what isabela got, make them look pretty for our protagonist too,
better make up
and body customization, let us also have body tattoos and stuff
a choice of voice overs if possible, but thats not a high priority really,
freckles and other facial stuff that can define our protagonist more

www.youtube.com/watch

The best CC I've ever had the pleasure to play around with (and you can too since it's free2play now).

Edit: And the ability play an elf again please!

APB: Reloaded used to be owned by EA. I honestly have no idea how these things work, but does that mean EA owns (or used to own) that kind of character creation? Because I would love to see a Dragon Age-ified version of it, or like EVE's.

You're able to tweak so much. Me want. *grabby hands*

- Long hair, pretty please? I just started playing Guild Wars 2 the other day and was like a kid in a candy shop with all the hair options. If not long then maybe something that isn't hideous, it seemed the balance between good looking and downright freaky in DA2 was off.

- Freckles. Being a redhead I have many, many freckles and sometimes I want to subject my protagonist to the same thing, I'm not talking a light dusting across the nose or cheeks (that would be great to) but lots of freckles! Everywhere.

- Scarring that isn't Hollywood scars, deep garish things. A favourite thing for me to do to my Cousland Warden was have her be very beautiful, then with a mod, add a really ugly scar. It was my way of making her mature into her roll, but that's just me.

- I don't know if this is possible due to cut-scenes and alignment but maybe some slight adjustments to the body? If I play a rogue I don't expect her to have a massively curvy figure. Whereas if I was playing a mage she could be because there's likely less physical exercise involved.

- Piercings, I was very jealous of Isabela's piercings in DA2.

- More tattoos.

And I'm not at all fussed about race options, I really don't think they're going to make a return.

Just guessing here, but if someone wanted APB level CC on a console, it would be very resource intensive and/or require sacrificing some other desirable things.

This! Times a million. Bad lighting is responsible for having to scrap quite a few of my characters when they got into the well-lit game and were....:o:unsure::sick:

The more options there are on the CC, the better. It can make the difference for me between only 2-3 different characters and 20. :o

Lemme make an all-out ginger character or one that can trump Ugly Shepard.

And something else- being able to spin our character around. See the back of them, the sides of them, etc etc.

^THIS.

I wouldn't mind a voiced protagonist if she can have the cocky Elf voice.

Because elves don't have facial hair. Same reason humans can't have horns.
