I got the Memory Band, but there is no description for it when scrolled over. It just says the name of the item, Memory Band, and the word Ring in the description box. I took it off during a fight to see if there was a change of any type for xp, and there wasn't. Is the item bugged? I didn't see any other topics on this other than people not getting it. Anyone else with this issue?
Is the Memory Band working?

Memory band gives a 1% increase in xp. You won't see a difference on individual kills due to rounding unless the kill is above 100 xp. For instance, if a mob give 83xp, the memory band gives and additional 0.83xp. Assuming bioware programmed the xp interface to just drop all decimals after zero, you'll only see 83xp, not 83.83xp.
So, if you really want to test if it's working, kill like 4 mobs and add it up. Reload from before the battle and do it again with the ring on. You may notice a 2 or 3 xp boost

Ditto. Or maybe it is working, and the description just doesn't show. Not sure which. I should test, but first I have to go to work.

you get two items with the memory band -> the memory band and the Formari Thome. The Formari Thome is the one with all the cool stats.

Memory band is just a ring, there are no item properties on it (look at the toolset), and if you measure in game, it adds nothing to the given XP of the wearer.

The ring is supposed to give 1 % more experience. And I've been chewing on this piece of heresy for a long while now without saying anything. But 1 % of 1000 experience is 10 extra experience per 1000 experience.
Now, in my full play-through where I ended up level 22 with experience of 148000, I got 1480 extra experience.
Wear that ring if you want, but it will not make any difference for you. It's blasphemeous to even include it in a sales pitch!

Wintermist: It's worse than that. Because while its true that the extra 1% would be trivial even if you got it, the ring doesn't actually do anything. You don't even get the trivial 1%.
The Memory Band doesn't actually do anything. At all.

A mob would have to give more than 100 experience to give you a single experience point anyway. Whoever came up with that ring deserves a good while on the knee enjoying a good number of slaps on his/hers behind.
As I said in the other thread, make the ring give 10 % and it would be worth using.

They should have changed the text on the Memory Band to: "The wearer of this ring gains the ability to heal all injuries sustained by each party member after every visit to the Camp."

The pre-order ad on the EA Store site indicated the Memeory Band "Adds +1% to XP" and "Adds one skill point". The latter is untrue.
I just spent two weeks going back and forth with EA/Bioware Support and finally got my two items the Memory Band and Band of Fire. All that waiting... the back and forths in e-mail, waiting 40 mintues on hold on the phone and 30+ minutes holding for online chat... and the Memory Band is a P.O.S.
One would think the EA Store might know what stats the item would have when the game released... since they released it.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins, and all I got was this lousy 1% exp increase Ring.

Yeah, just the band here no mention of any throne or anything. And on the card with the code on it (that I got for Pre-ordering it through GAME in the UK it also says it adds a skill point.

GG Public Schools. If it's rounding, it would be anything over 50, not over 100.
It should be pretty easy to tell. Save before your next yellow guy. Kill him without the ring. If it's 50-100 xp, reload and kill him with the ring. You should recieve one extra XP.
I want to know if it has to be on the main character's hand. As it is, most of my male characters get Morrigan's ring (which is pretty useless in comparison to other items at that stage of the game), and my city elf chick is running around with one of her ring slots filled with her Wedding Ring.
If the main character wears it - does the entire active party benefit from it, or only stuff the main character kills? As far as I've seen, I'm not getting 51 or 61 xp from having Leli pick tough locks if my main is wearing it.
If another party member wears it, does it have any effect at all? What if I leave them in camp? Does it work as per the main character - whereas only his XP benefits, etc?
Edit: RE: Skill Points. Again, public schools FTW. LEARN TO READ! The Bio chick said the ring also comes with the tome - the tome being the actual item that gives the skill point, not the ring. You're not getting screwed out of an extra skill point, you just can't program +1 skill to a removeable item in this game environment.

Depends on what sort of rounding we are talking about. If it is a proper rounding, then yes - 1-49 exp points will give the same with or without the extra percent, and 50-100 will give 1 extra point.
The catch is that in computers there are ways for rounding that work not by abbreviation, but by crude dropping. Everything after the decimal point disappears, regardless of whether it is 0.01 or 0.99 - for computers, both 5.1 and 5.99 will count as 5.0..
But, as it has been said here, the ring itself has no in-game effect to raise the exp. The only thing that the "Memory Band" DLC gives is 1 skill point from a tome and 0 value plain ring.
