Cameos if they make sense. We can upgrade minor characters to companions (Cullen, Cassandra) but I don't want to see previous companions as companions again.

This.

And really it feels kinda odd for me when playing as a new PC to even have cameos of old companions. I love seeing them, but I'm not that other character anymore. So, it's weird.

In DA2 during Act2 I saw Alistair--grey warden--I was thrilled. Then he looked over at my character all bland like and I remembered--he doesn't know who I am.

Minor characters to companions--yes. Old companions in new game? No, not for me. Not with a new PC.

I'd actually like to see previous companions as companions in DA3, especially if the companions are presented in a different way and we get a fresh perspective on the characters looking at them through another protagonists eyes.

For example, I think a much better use for Lelliana in DA2 would have been to have an "origin story" in Lotherine at the start of the game.  We could have been introduced to Lelliana (as she was at the Lothering Chantry at that time) and Hawke could have had some kind of relationship with her (either friends, Hawke has a crush on her, Carter could have had a crush on her, etc. etc.).  Then when they meet again in Kirkwall the conversation between the two characters could be one of "look how far we've come" rather than "OMG, you're THE Lellianna who traveled with the Warden, can I have your autograph!!"  The warden may never have needed to come up in the conversation.

Well, I guess it's still better than Isabella introducing herself by telling you that she ****ed the Warden.
